That's Keitaro Urashima. He's the actual technical main character of Love Hina. The story's basically about that when he was very young he made a promise with a girl he can't even remember now, and after failing terribly to get into Tokyo U, his parents have kicked him out of the house to go live with his grandmother's Hinata Inn.
