What a fantastic review! I really liked the part where they did a point-by-point analysis of the main features of the bike and discussed how it compares streetwise versus trails. Thanks for detailing all the important pros and cons and then wrapping it up with a great summary. The only thing that could have made this review more comprehensive would be to maybe show some footage of the bike being ridden while playing some gay music in the background.

My review - (top) heavy in tight forests. Has long enough legs for short hops on the interstate between trails and enough grunt to climb steep grades from low rpm with a 200lb guy + gear. Re-jet + FMF powerbomb to get the potential out of the motor. I like Kendra 760 Trailmaster II on the back and Dunlop 606 in the front for wet leaves, logs, rocks, and clay ruts in the Southeast U.S. Your terrain may favor other tires. Buy metal radiator guards for off road duty. Nice middleweight for the $

this vid sux! this is not a review! i have the 03 kawasaki KLX400SR that is the same as the drz all i have is an after market seat SDG (gripper) since i am 150 lbs and i slide off and i have an fmf pipe and this bike has plenty of power and its rips throught mud and sand and n e thing else i have encounterd! i trail ride this bike hard like one would a cr250 and have never had a problem this is by far one of the better duelsports out there!

I have that bike and I love it. Rode it today for hours on and off road. I would get a used one in good shape and spend the xtra dough on lowering links, renthal bars with bark busters and a after market pipe and header and a rejet kit. Mine has plenty of power and I am 220lbs. 1st gear gets me going on steep hills from a dead start. Top gear limits out at 70mph so I can take the highway to my favorite trails. I could get a KTM but I'm new at this and dont want to drop a new KTM over and over.

650's are excellent for Baja. Though they are quite heavier. My XR650L has been fully modified to 40 pounds of excess weight removed for better control, I ride tight, sharp, lopsided trails and the weight had to go! It was a bit costly but, I wanted more HP with the 400cc handling. If you're riding Baja.. I'd upgrade. "im always offroading i do ride a little on the street" - What kind of off-roading exactly? Creek/river, trick/track, single/wide trail, woods/desert or short/long riding?

dual sport does not suck. put some half decent knobby tires on it and take the big panniers off and its quite a good bike. im also gonna agree with hillbill94 if you want an enduro bike an xr 400 or 600 would be what id buy, although i am looking at an exc or wr 450 for my next enduro bike.

I have this bike. Its easy to cruise around on dirt roads. I have taken it off trail on much worse terrain than in this video. The back tire is washy and it dosent have enough balls for the road. Dual sport is OK for woods OK for road just not really great at either lol

You want a review. Well i have some videos of me riding mine and it seems to take me where ever I want. Only complain is that its a ill bit heavy. All you realy need to do is a re jet and snorkel removel on it if your striving for more power. But I will tell you this at 12K they start needing matince if you don't take care of them right or if you beat the crap out of them off road. (LIKE ME).

I've owned many bikes in my 18 years of riding, one was a 2001 DRZ400S (largely unchanged since then), without a doubt the most fun bike I've owned. I ran 100% dirt tires on it, it was a blast around town, kept up in the trails easily, wheelies like mad, even capable on mx tracks.

Top speed: 170kph (indicated)

Max Comfortable Cruising Speed: 120kph

Kept up to GSXR600 to about 80kph

Really wish I hadn't sold it.
