i guess those damn europeans gave obama the award as part of an effort to keep him contained and controlled. anyway, by doing this they made a complete mockery out of the whole nobel prize instituation. i mean seriously.. he didnt do ANYTHING to get it. such a load of crap.
@nukesistah It was a mockery in the first place! Do you know what else Alfred Nobel invented? TNT! He wanted to be remembered for something else so he made the award. He certainly would not have won the peace prize.
He won the award because of inter -nation peace relations. I mean he's been president for not even a year and he's visited Europe and the middle east more times than Bush ever had in his two terms. He's gotta win something for that
Dude he only ever freaking went to other countries on vacations! While we work our butts off ( at work, school, or otherwise) so that Our futures don't end up trashed by being given to illegals, He's in freaking france with his family eating a freaking crepe with whipped cream!!
Anyway, I think Obama's doing a fair job, considering the position he started out in. He could have made it worse, but he's managed to keep it stable, while working on different ways to better the country. He may not be God, but at least he's trying, right?
One more thing. The Palin embezzlement thing is nothing more then another media hoax. All the various media outlets called it a "potential reason" for her stepping down from office, and charges would come out in 2 weeks. It's been over 4 months, and of course absolutely nothing has come of this allegation. Everything is dated July 3-4 Nothing more recent. This doesn't matter. The sheeple saw it and believed it. I fully expect to have a "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain" bumper sticker in 2012
What the fuck is your problem. I agree with the RSR bonus episode about John McCain. If he were in office we would all be dead and/or Chinese. Lucky for us, there was no way in hell he was going to win that election, or any other Presedential election for that matter.
Borgmecenary, First, you are correct. Every single media outlet but Fox pushes moderately to the Left. Fox, on the other hand, pushes firmly to the Right. I guess that means they should be shut up. As for your McCain comments, they have no basis in reality. You really believe if John McCain was elected, we'd all be dead now? Why, would he have weakened our military? Oh, wait. Obama is doing that now. Who on Earth thinks other countries will get rid of Nukes because Obama said we would? Grow up!
I didn't say everyone, and I didn't say he'd weaken our military. Quite the opposite actually, his military buildup and the ongoing wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, wherever else we happen to be, but because of that, we would actually start to pose a threat to China and that would prompt a Chinese attack, they would then ally themselves with Iran, Venezuela, Pakistan, North Korea, etc. and we'd have some kind of enourmous nuclear standoff on the scale of US/USSR in the 50's - 80's.
Bush's war in Iraq is just about wound up, but Obama is still bumbling around in Afghanistan. He wouldn't even communicate with his hand picked General until the media shames him into it. This is better then having a strong military? Oh, I see! It's better if China sees the United States as weak and not a threat to them! Obama won't do a thing to annoy other countries, so we're safe. Peace by Cowardice. What a winning strategy! That's right, weak and whimpy America is just what the world wants!
Hey y'know, I think the fact that we're in Afghanistan shows that the US is, as a superpower, at death's door. The last people to take all of Afghanistan were the Greeks under Alexander the Great. Chew on that for a while. The USSR lost its standing as a superpower after it invaded Afghanistan, so did ancient Persia and Sassanid Persia, it's inevitable that any superpower that invades Afghanistan will soon be just another nation.
So we've reached the core of the argument at last. You WANT the United States to be some weak little pushover country. If Obama would trust his own military advisers the war in Afghanistan would be won. I have faith in our fighting forces. After all, we have technology that would have made Alexander the Great worship us as Gods. So I guess we're stuck with Obama's plan of "Drop trousers and bend over" so the rest of the world likes us again. Three cheers for the Cowardly States of America!
I didn't say I wanted it to happen, I'm just saying it's GOING to happen. There is no way to win a war in or on Afghanistan even with our technology, you would need literally millions of ground troops, an airforce with the size of China's and with the per capita abilities of Israel's. As is, no world power will win Afghanistan without the support of all the others. If we had Russia, China, and the whole of NATO with us we would've won by now, but we don't have China or Russia, or all of NATO.
Also, what's wrong with the rest of the world liking us again? They hated us under Bush because he acted unilaterally, without NATO or UN approval. If we would stop acting like that (Thank God Obama has to an extent stopped.) the rest of the world would stop treating Americans like asses.
How many UN representatives made money dealing with Husseins oil for food program? The UN is so corrupt its sick, and you think we needed permission from that house of thieves? Do you really think theyd want to derail the gravy train? I personally think the United States should get out of the UN! That will never happen now that Obama has made the US into a weak and whiny nation. I bet within 5 years, something will happen to make 911 look like a wet firecracker. We won't fight back any more!
I don't think I sound Fascist. I just think it's wrong to trust a group that has been shown to be so corrupt. Trying to be everyone's best friend isn't going to work either. The United States is going to end up being kicked around. I just know it.
Corrupt as it is, the UN is an important world organization and the US would become the target of more hostility than it's recieving now. If anything we'd get kicked around even more if we were to seceed from the UN. We don't need every independent nation on Earth (Taiwan & the Vatican excepted, they're not members.) breathing down our necks. We really should be getting people out of Afghanistan & Iraq. We have no right to be there in the first place.
Uh, are you confusing me with someone else? I was never concerned with Obama's career. I've only been talking to you about how the media banded together to destroy Palin and McCain, while cheering on Obama. The American mass media told the public who to vote for, and all the sheeple said Baa-Baa Obama!
Now he's won a Nobel prize simply because he isn't Bush! This has totally devalued the Nobel Peace Prize. The only reason they gave it to him was as a direct slap in W's face.
just a comment on recession, historically we have one every ten years... Blame whoever, I'm not here to argue, I just think that its unfair to solely blame Bush for the recession, and call Obama lord immediately.
It IS fair to blame Bush. Not for the recession itself, but for driving it so far into the ground. Also, does anyone actually think Obama is Lord? Seriously, anyone is open to comment on this one.
BorgMercenary, How long does Obama have to be in office before people stop blaming EVERY SINGLE THING that happens on Bush? Obama promised the unemployment rate wouldn't reach 8 percent if the stimulus plan was passed. The sheeple passed it. The rate is edging close to 10 now. Doesn't that mean any rate over 8 is Obama's fault? He made the promise, and DIDN'T COME THROUGH! Clinton and Carter started this recession with sub-prime loans. The housing market died because of it. Bino, recession!
Nobody's blaming everything on Bush. There's a difference between everything and many things. I never said the job losses could be acredited to Bush; they are definitely the result of big industries laying off workers to increase stock value. And, y'know, I'm trying to be bipartisan but you've skipped the first and most importantly the second bush in you sub-prime loaners point. They did it to.

Obama did absolutely nothing anywhere near worthy of receiving the Nobel prize, nor has he dont anything at all since his election- except propose to make school until 5 oclock with no summer vacation.

nickcarlisle1989 first of all i am canadian just to get that out of the way but even if i was from the u.s those soldiers going to iraq and killing peaple woudnt give me any more freedom even if there intentions were pure all they have done is gone and takin away peaples rights and believes and that is not what america was founded for
I feel that our government has been very screwed up for quite a while now, it just shows how idiotic most of our public is. Every government has it's own faults, but with our debt rising, and more people going radical, it can't get much worse. And, religious beliefs are taking over our country, it disgusts me. I like democracy.
The great thing about democracy is that it gives every voter a chance to do something stupid. - Art Spander
All politics aside there are far better candidates for the prize. There are people who have dedicated their lives to noble causes who did not receive the award. Awards should definitely be given based on results and not expectations. Although Obama may very well deserve this award in the future, he got it way to early. I guess we will have to wait and see if he can fulfill his promises.
Just that last line bugs me a bit. I understand that the only problem with Obama is that he's "taking his time" or that he "should have done more by now". Do you realize how badly Bush screwed the system before he left? Obama fixing the USA after Bush is like taking over someones place in a game of Scrabble who was illiterate. There is change happening, but our problems wont be "fixed" (whatever your definition of that is) until probably Obamas term is up. Both of them.
I totally agree with you, Obama was basically handed a bag of garbage, and we except him to turn it into a Gourmet meal. Its almost an impossible task, which will take much longer then a lot people in our country think. We expect to much of him to soon.
I think we need to hold off the judgement calls at least until his first term is over.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
bush got one. yeah. im pretty sure almost every recent presidenthas gotten one. he is the first black president, prooving that racism has atleast lowered in America. seriously this is the most prejudged president ever, even bush wasn't this critisized the first year of his first term!
Uh, that is wrong. For the record. Three sitting Presidents have won the Nobel Prize. TR, Wilson, and Obama. Carter recently won one, and so did Al Gore, so one former President and one former VP. And I'm pretty sure that's it. I might have missed a 19th century President back there, but let's at least get straight that Bush did not win one.
Maybe you're thinking of Fridtjof Nansen (1922) because I've head people get him and Bush confused sometimes. It's the boyish charm and good looks, I think.
Have you ever read a history book? Three presidents (Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Barack Obama) have won the Nobel Prize during their respective presidencies.
Former President Jimmy Carter won the prize during Bush's Presidency and due to his outspoken opposition to Bush's policies in Iraq, Carter's Nobel Prize was viewed as an academic and institutional snub at George W. Bush.
Have some common sense - the man was a WAR president. Nobel "PEACE" Prize? Hello??
Nobel Painkiller Addiction Prize! Hilarious! What would that look like? Just a bottle of Vicodyn? And I'll admit that I was surprised that Rock used the word "extemporaneously." Just sounds like something Sock or Robot would say, not Rock. :D
hmm...true he did accomplish a lot more than bush just by sitting in a chair :D. One day america will find dirt on obama and well all be regretting that moment....well democrats will. ha bisky
Well while the nobel prize was a little early, gotta give Obama credit though because he got shit rolling. The day after he was elected he had a meeting with GM, Ford, and Chrysler to see what needed to be done in order to save the auto industry. If it weren't for him doing that, I think we would pretty much be S.O.L right now. Alot of people seem to forget that the auto industry is the backbone of this country. Yeah Bush did have a meeting with the big 3 , but it took him..6..8...YEARS to do it.

Not that we had any good candidates running. . .

All politics aside there are far better candidates for the prize. There are people who have dedicated their lives to noble causes who did not receive the award. Awards should definitely be given based on results and not expectations. Although Obama may very well deserve this award in the future, he got it way to early. I guess we will have to wait and see if he can fulfill his promises.
joebrown2487 2 years ago

Obama hasn't done a damn thing, him winning the Nobel Peace Prize is a joke.
The ironic thing is, on the day of the award ceremony, even more troops will be sent to Afghanistan. Peace my ass.

bush got one. yeah. im pretty sure almost every recent presidenthas gotten one. he is the first black president, prooving that racism has atleast lowered in America. seriously this is the most prejudged president ever, even bush wasn't this critisized the first year of his first term!
TwilightSucks999 2 years ago

Hello??

The prize was established by the man who invented dynamite.

Good point, Lazerface. Also, it is awesome to call someone Lazerface. That's what I'm going to call all people who make a good point from now on.

Nobel Painkiller Addiction Prize! Hilarious! What would that look like? Just a bottle of Vicodyn? And I'll admit that I was surprised that Rock used the word "extemporaneously." Just sounds like something Sock or Robot would say, not Rock. :D
