She reminds me of Billy Joel, Bob Dylan and Ray Charles all at once in this performance. She is truly magical.
@josieleah1 She will always live on through her music. And who knows, she may be one of those artists who'll be bigger in death than in life, although I doubt it. But I do wish that more people knew and appreciated her.
It's so sad to imagine that when she dies only her fans and close friends will recognize that day and dread it for years to come and she won't be publicly remembered. I hope she lives forever!
sorry but im a paranoid barstard i cant help it soz... Sorry this is scary if u read this far u will die in 10 days if u dont send to any 15 videos in 2 hours good luck hope u dont die
She bleeds music. It's just her natural thing. To me she is the fifth Beatle. Her songs are so different and rare that I cry just to even believe that a human being can even write such brilliant music. Regina Spektor doesn't even seem real. It is 2009 and I didn't think it was even possible to be original anymore. But Regina Spektor proved me WRONG!!! You blow me away Regina, you blow me away!!!!
I think some of her unrecorded live songs are my favorites. I just love the beat she makes in this, and the rest of it of course. Some girl in the audience yells "Thank you!" when she finishes haha
Yeah, but you know her. Even if she records songs you've only heard in concert. She'll just come up with newer ones at the next one you go to, or older ones you haven't heard or she hasn't performed in a long time :) She is a fan pleaser with albums and concerts. She's very UN-disappointing with whatever she chooses to do.
MAN, she's just so completely gifted and inspirational. I really wish she was more famous so that people could realize what true talent really is in contrast to some of the garbage that's being listened to these days.
Amen to that!! I have a feeling that she will eventually explode. She has to. She's just too good. Then people will appreciate all the stuff they've already missed out on for the last 5+ years
Ahh! I love this song!!! I know I've probably commented on this ten gazillion times, but its just amazing!!!! Actually, it might kinda unhealthy that I adore it so much, seeing as how its not even on an album yet lol
My other favorites are Man of a Thousand Faces and Aquarius. It's a shame they're so hard to find.
Her unreleased material MUST be on her next album!! And I hope it's more like this where it's just Regina and her piano. The raw, folk sound is best. <3
Trust me i love Regina Spektor as much as you. I think she is a great musician with a great voice and a great talent for songwriting. this is quite a good song.
but if all of her unreleased stuff was on her next album it would have like over 100 songs on it. she has a lot of unreleased stuff that's really good...
Her next album is going to have to have like 30 songs on it! Haha, I love it all and it makes me sad that I only get to hear any of these songs when I have internet access
Sorry to confuse you! "Is going to have to have" , not "going to have", meaning I WANT it to have like 30 songs so that some of these would be released. :) I really don't know anything about a next album. Just wishing I could have this and a lot of her other amazing songs on my ipod:)
You know what I bet she'll do? Every new album will be 3/4ish new songs and then include 2 to 3 of her unreleased. Didn't she do that with Begin To Hope, with Samson & a couple others? I know some people like the idea of certain songs only being heard in concert, but how often do you get to hear it then. I don't live in NY and don't want always wait to go to a lucky concert. I'd rather hear Regina and all her songs OFTEN. So if it's recorded, we CAN. What Regina fan wouldn't agree with that.
When I was old enough to appreciate The Beatles, I couldn't believe how great they were. I still can't. Except for maybe a little Pink Floyd, Regina Spektor is the only one that's made me feel like that since. She is music history in the making. I am so grateful to recognize it while it's happening.
I agree that Reg has what it takes to become a music legend. Whether she is actually remembered in that light depends on a lot of things... (considering how fast people are forgotten in music these past few years- if you're played on the radio, chances are good: you're a one-hit wonder.)
If anyone can pull off going down in history from this year on, it's totally Regina. She's ... well, don't get me started ;-)
Isn't it hard not to talk about her? & you want to dissect everything about her. When it clicks & you GET her, all of a sudden you get such a strong appreciation that you need to vent to somebody else just to get confirmation that this girl is even for real. People gush over music & artists all the time, including me. But this time it's different, a lot different. To me Regina isn't just a cool few songs or a good album. She's got the power to change music. To me she's that good.
That's really what sets her apart-everyone else took a good look at what's out there and said "what if we add this or that?" but regina works in just the opposite way-she has a picture, or an emotion already in her head, and instruments are hardly sufficient.
and as a result, the rest of "music" can't compete.
she can sing complete nonsense, literally, and still move me more than any pop ballad.
Great point. She has many good meaningful lines here & there, but mostly her lyrics don't make sense. Many try & figure them out but can't. She even says in interviews that she doesn't like to explain the words. & SHE doesn't even understand them sometimes. But like you said so well: 'she tells stories in more than just lyrics' To not understand the words has NEVER ONCE ruined my love for her music. She always makes me happy or moves me to tears, even when I don't get it. Which I don't get :)
Regina is going to be a music legend. I couldn't agree with you more on that. Every day Iisten to her. One of her cd's (Songs) was stuck in my car for 3 weeks before I ever realized it. I cannot get enough of her. I love her. I want to meet her, to see her in person. I can't even get my mind around how someone can be as taleneted and beautiful as she is. She truely is on a whole diffrent level that any other musician. She is truely my idol. It is really is nice seeing others as equally obsessd.
Yes. I get upset at friends and family when they don't get it. I just don't understand how they can't. She's a flippin' genius. I'll play a song of hers to someone and they'll say it's cute or sometimes they even get irritated. Can you even believe that?!! Except for maybe the Beatles, I've never seen anything like her. I feel so special to be alive at the same time she's making new music. It makes me feel like I'm a little part of it.
I love how she sounds like a wolf howling when she says "moon"... She really thinks about it all. She's so smart!! This song is wonderful. And she is too =)
Yeah, while the song is already awesome, she adds those little extra touches. I can't even tell you how many times I've rewound the second time she sings 'moon'. It's just the cutest coolest thing to listen to. It's hard to explain even why. It just is. But that's Regina for ya. There's nobody like her.

@seizetheday224 So glad someone else thinks that way. (:
I mean I love her songs, but people act as though she's God's gift to music, and I think that's kind of missing the point.
