But you should understand that it serves as a way to deter speeding also, thats why they're there in the first place. I personally disapprove of bumps, especially in cities like Chicago or Helsinki. Those bumps are perfect places to get stuck when a snowstorm/blizzard strikes....

Leftortovo Tunnel is a very bad design in terms of safety. No shoulders either side, looks like the speed limit is too high, no stepped retainers, no VMS from what I can see, lanes too narrow, changing lanes permitted, etc etc.

And from those trucks, looks like they need vehicle seperation devices as well, I thought it was one truck they were that close

The point of road safety devices is to protect the driver in the event of a crash. Whilst drivers probably caused these crashes, the tunnel has done nothing to minimize or prevent the continuation of the crash.

For example, the bus probably just clipped the kerb (due to narrow lanes). Stepped concrete retainers would simply bounce the bus back off.
