Marilyn had the acting chops, that stuipid Darryl Zanuck didn't want to give her a chance and kept her in these cheesy musical comedies. She actually got tired, left hollywood and studied at the actors studio and made Bus Stop. Which to me is an excellent dramatic performance, rivaling many actresses including those like Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly who won an oscar for the country girl. smh Monroe was intelligent, her IQ:168

It makes me so desperately sad to see people insult Marilyn Monroe's acting abilities. 1) She was cast in cheesy, not-necessary-to-have-talent roles because the studies wanted her to be perceived as a dumb blonde, during the beginning of her career 2) Anyone who actually knows something about her knows that she left 20th Century Fox in 1955 and started her own production company because she wasn't happy with her career 3) Watch her last few movies. The good Lord gave Marilyn beauty, talent and an incredibly warm heart. My favorite movie is "Let's Make Love" because I love the character she plays in it, however, all her movies are thoroughly entertaining. @lydia232 I love her performance in "the Misfits," to me that is the ultimate motion picture with one of the greatest and most talented casts in the history of film and cinema, but I absolutely loved her performance in "Bus Stop." She was sweet, charming, vulnerable, strong, and emotional at the same time and her close ups had such brilliance of depth. Also, have you seen "The Prince and the Showgirl?" Monroe practically wipes the great Sir Lawrence Olivier off the screen.

this film is a tribute to the songs of Irving Berlin...should she be singing a non-Irving Berlin song? She is not "stealing" songs, she sings what are called in the music industry "standards" just like Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and many other greats.

This is a fabulous interpretation of a classic song as only Marilyn could do it.
