2000 Cobra R's were naturally aspirated 5.4l 4 valve engines. they made 385 hp and 385 ft/lbs of torque. the whine you hear is the intake sucking in shit tons of cool air. This car is a fuckin beast. if you can find one, they go for about the same price as they did when new- $55,000.

Air whistles, gears whine. What you said is correct, the cars were gutted from the factory, rear seats, a/c, radio, fender liners, all gone. The whining is the transmission, there is hardly any NVH material on the inside of the car and thats why it is so prominent.
