  • The Beatles launched a thousand ships and it seems even Lennon's own son is trying to recapture a time that has passed long ago. Wild how much the Beatles affected the world.

  • Sounds more like Madonna's voice (circa 1985) + John Lennon = good Sean Lennon cover.

  • yoko ono's voice + john lennon's voice = great sean lennon

  • thank you for uploading this!!!! i love it. i saw sean lennon play with cibo matto at the 1stever tibeten freedom concert in san fransisco!! it was OUT OF SIGHT. beautiful 2 day concert with beastie boys, beck, sonic youth....il never forget it. ill tell you more in a msg....

  • Not a bad rendition. His playing of "JULIA" at Carnegie is very good, I think.

  • strange. I never expected him to sound like this.

  • Just awful!

  • I think this is good.

  • To much of his mother in him. Not good.

  • Two exits. No waiting.

  • My ears just vomited......

  • ehhhh.. its ok... not that GOOD it gust ok

  • He sounds like a KD Lang knockoff

  • This version is a bit silly if you ask me. I prefer Julian's singing voice and songwriting. It's a shame he didn't have access to his father or the money that was left behind so that Sean could be glorified singing a song that he didn't even write. Julian got shafted and I don't think anyone can blame him for feeling bitter.

  • I refuse to believe it is a male singing this song.

  • Julian should be singing it!!!

  • The older he gets the more he looks like John and I did not think that was possible. As a toddler he did not display any of John or Yoko's looks. I am glad his mother made sure to make music a part of his life whether or not it is a hobby or something else for him. Personally I do not think Sean would want to make a living doing what his father did. Music was such a huge part of John's life.

  • Way to ruin your Dad's song, mate.

  • @fsalgadomaia You & people like you really need to learn to keep your mouth shut MATE! His father wrote the effin song & at least Sean loves the song his father wrote!

  • @blanchardrose Is my opinion not valid? is there any reason why I should keep quiet? Or do you just want to silence everyone that doesn't agree with you? True, my last comment was concise and blunt but if you want to, I'll draft out an essay on why this song is much, much worse than the original.

  • @dreamwad1 ahhhhh how I missed Youtube-arguing with people with zero logical reasoning =) thank you sir. Your rudeness makes you unimportant.

  • @fsalgadomaia - It was important enough for you to respond... If you re-think what I wrote you'll find that it's very sound logic. Covering a song has no effect on the original? It doesn't take a genius (or an essay) to acknowledge the fact that Sean's version is just that, "Sean's version."

Thanks for responding tho... I might not agree with your opinion but I do agree with the fact that everyone is entitled to have and speak it...

  • @dreamwad1 Thank you. It depends on how you take "the effect" of a song. Although my original comment was a crude overstatement, if the thought of an original song is permanently associated with a bad cover, then you can say the original song, in your perception, is tainted. This is all very subjective, of course, I obviously do not mean a cover can retroactively change a song. I meant no disrespect with my original comment. It was a thoughtless and impulsive remark, nothing more.

  • @fsalgadomaia Well you don't have to say it so rudely.

  • Looks like Daddy,

    Sounds like Mommy.

    HE IS SO BEAUTIFUL.

  • What money will buy.

  • Is this a 90's version?.. it kinda sux.

  • Wow, this is a very narcissistic film clip. It also sounds very like sound enhancers etc have been used, & makes me wonder what Sean Lennon would sound like live on stage, with just a microphone in his hand & a small backing band. I'm guessing it would be very bad.

  • Comment removed

  • @dreamwad1 You're a paralegal and you talk like this and only want people to agree with you and not voice their own opinions? Oh well, Youtube is all about free speech, both in your case and in mine......

  • @darkallegiance666 - You are certainly entitled to your opinions, that's the benefit of these forums, but I just can't stand when people make uneducated statements that carry no weight. You said yourself that you were GUESSING and I'm simply pointing out that you guessed wrong. You don't have to like Sean's music but you shouldn't attack him because of it... that's all. Sorry If I offended you. I get defensive when it comes to Sean and Julian. I just feel bad about what they went through.

  • @dreamwad1 Thanks for so much for being so nice. I've only ever heard this one song and "Dead Meat", so that's why I was guessing. If you've heard him sing with only an acoustic guitar and a microphone and say that he's still good then I really ought to listen to one of these songs before anything about him again. I must admit that I kind of feel sorrier for Julian than Sean, but who really knows what either of their lives have been like? Thanks again.

  • And so dear friends, you'll just have to carry on.....the dream is over.

  • @Fooblestheclown (I ran out of words in my previous post) ... Get your mind off what he wears. People expect him to replace his father. He looks like his father, so why not wear the same type of glasses? Besides, i think he looks spankin' ;) And why should he spend his inheritance money? It's his life, not yours. I would advise you to get one. Good day Sir.

  • @CrispyRingo ...alright then, we all made our points, I wish not to debate about this anymore, simply because everytime I respond, I have to listen to this kid's horrible version of Dear Prudence.....I guess you also think that this kids Mother's heroin induced rants during the live peace in Toronto concert was the work of a genus also....set aside your Beatle bias....and open your mind.

  • @Fooblestheclown Well Yoko was definately creative. And heroin only brings out what she herself cannot express :P Set aside your hatred and open your HEART

And I have a right to be bias, Beatles are awesome! Once again, Good day Sir Paul.

  • @Fooblestheclown John's dream lives on as there are people to carry it.

  • John would have been proud that his son even attempted this song

  • 3:40 Yoko's in a peace cocoon

  • When has he recorded it? Btw, he looks quite similar to Johnny Depp ;p

  • Is that really Sean? Lord, he's pretty ; )

  • They took every bit of the rock and roll out. The reprise of the 1st verse is such a pale, wimpy reflection of the original that I felt sorry that Sean apparently can't feel the grit his Dad did. And that little emphasis on, "daisy chain" makes me a little nauseated.

  • @clifpenn Nobody cares if he's not an exact replica of his dad. It's a tribute, so just honour it as one and stop critiquing his style. Sean's awesome :D

  • ay wey que culeros arreglos!!!!!!!! jajaja

  • Oh my god....this is just......TERRIBLE! Wake up everybody, we all miss John but this kid is no replacement. Lennon should have worn a condom back in 1975.

  • @Fooblestheclown Oh come on. Sean isn't trying to replace his father, we all know that's impossible. He just wants to express himself through music. Think about it, how would you feel if your father died when you were only five years old? Music is his last connection with his dad. And he's a great singer, he just has a different style. Don't be hating on Beatles offspring :D

  • @CrispyRingo .....I cannot accept this rich spoiled brat as a musician. Anything but a musician. Perhaps a game show host, or a movie double for Harry Potter. If he was not the son of John Lennon he would flipping burgers with the rest of us.

  • @Fooblestheclown Look, I agree that he only became famous because of his name, but he does have tallent. You can't deny that. If he wants to express himself through this genre, he has every right to do so. Whether anyone listens to him has no relevance. Besides, Yoko didn't have the best voice, but John loved her with all his heart. He loved Sean too. John himself said he won't comform to society's expectations for him, well neither will Sean. Just accept that he's the son of a god ;)

  • @CrispyRingo ....I have some bad news for you. Lennon was not a god. He was a man with as many faults as you and I. I stopped hero worshiping pop stars years ago.

  • @Fooblestheclown I know John had faults, that just makes him a better person. If he had none, I wouldn't be as big a fan as I am. And don't take everythink so seriously. It was actually a joke, if you hadn't realised.

Besides, the fact that you ignored everything I said except the last sentence also reinforces the fact that you're wrong. And for God's sake, Give Peace a Chance :D

  • @CrispyRingo ....Peace sells but whos buying? Are you trying to tell me that Sean isn't trying to replace his father?! Baloney!! You might take notice that he''s singing one of his Daddy's songs on this video, and poorly I might want to add......oh yeah take a look at his glasses also....jeez, why doesn't this kid spend his inheritance and just shut up already.

  • @Fooblestheclown I didn't say anything about peace selling or buying. Peace isn't on the market. If money can't buy you love, what makes you think it can buy peace? :P And as for the fact Sean's singing one of his father's songs; didn't you take any notice of what I wrote before? His father's music is his connection to his father. It doesn't matter whether it's publicised or not. Poorly? Pftt. As I said before, Yoko doesn't have the best voice, but John loved her anyway.

  • This is pretty good!

  • hosonoshan!

  • Wow, a modernised version of Dear Prudence...................I hate it

  • Great choice of a song to cover.

  • I love this version, don't knock it. Wish I was as talented.

  • The Musicianship is Lennon, but the vocals are ONO.

  • BEAUTIFUL Version of a BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!

  • he has John's profile :) he's awesome

  • hell yeah the beat is sick in this version. i dig it

and only 12? he's got it in the blood

  • so unfair that his father was stolen from him. yes from us too. but good Lord, he was stripped of his father.

  • Comment removed

  • I think if John were still with us, not only would he be proud of both of his sons, he would probably be making music with them, producing their music, and touring with them. MDC needs to think long and hard about what he has taken from them. I think Sean and Julian should write songs about MDC and the pain he has caused them. I could write songs about that pain, as well. I know I shouldn't hate, but he committed the crime of the century.

  • @jsmyers24151

john wouldn't do the mike love with them.

he would want them to have their own careers.

  • I really think that we should enjoy, and of course, he is Sean, but maybe some people wouldn't like this video....some people would like this video, we just don't know...it really doesn't care, is the music, just the music men. :) Love John Lennon, I love The Beatles, I love music.

  • intresting version 1

  • People really need to calm down...

  • oh my god, what did they do?

  • I love the 80's-ness of this video

  • i like alot very psychedelic great cover

  • @ChowAtTheY

I'm sure you did ...I don't see your videos or tunes anywhere>?

  • @KatchmarekJG52 Unfortunately, a lot of talent goes unnoticed, while many others are famous for no apparent reason. Success is not a reliable indicator of talent.

  • @PrincessBudenskya amen to that

  • @PrincessBudenskya

    Excellent point.

  • Kotz

  • Father and Son. <3 Amazing

  • sean lennon is an incredible songwriter. but this cover is not good. nasty 80s production.

  • ... bless you, Sean! And yer dad. Thanks, this is wonderful

  • Aww :') I love Sean <3

  • parachute is awsesome,love u lennons

  • why are you bashing him? if anyone can cover this song it's john son

  • I believe this has been done already by a group called The Beatles; they were very talented.

  • @CurtisHalfHalf and sean lennon is john lennons son dumbass

  • @nascar08freak Do you know what the word 'facetious' means you incredible imbecile?

  • @CurtisHalfHalf who?

  • @CurtisHalfHalf lol Sean is son of John Lennon, from The Beatles >,>

  • @FNizzio Its a good thing he's surrounded by all those hack Japanese sound engineers, they think his vocal ability is marvelous; if it had been in the US, they would have told him the truth.

Sean is as talented as his mother.

Son of John Lennon?...I think thats just a rumor...Ringo is Sean's father.

  • @CurtisHalfHalf

    F. U. nuff said.

  • @KatchmarekJG52 You must be a militant Sean Lennon fan.

Keep in mind, if his last name werent Lennon, we wouldnt be exchanging comments; even dear sweet Prudence would agree with me....

  • sux

    sound like yoko

  • sux

  • its odd, he looks like 1/2 john 1/2 yoko. the same with his voice. it's like he's just a morphed-together version of both of them

  • @thefoxmandog lol i agree, he is so cute and i can hear a lil bit of john's voice, this video made me cry, he's looks like his father a lot

  • @thefoxmandog Yes! The genetics are definitely obvious! And he has talent!

  • @thefoxmandog It's almost as though he's their son, with their genes.

  • @thefoxmandog its called its their son

  • @thefoxmandog and he's 2/2 Sean

  • @thefoxmandog Yep...that's how reproduction usually works.

  • iam sorry but, sean does not have the talent of his dad, but u know who did well at least half , julian lennon, he has more of his voice and i know, sean is only 10 hear or what ever he is , he killed the song is kind of like a justin beaber thing iam hearing omg its gettings worse what the fuck he he killed this song

  • I don't like how he sings, but he does look like his dad though!

  • awful awful awful just cuz your dads a beatle does not meann you can ruin their songs!!

  • @12urmomma you cover one of your dads songs and upload it and we'll have a laugh

  • @petesemaj I dont get it..

  • @12urmomma That's okay, take your time

  • @petesemaj whatever you say..the point is, it sucks soooo bad hahahaha

  • sean is aighhhht...video is contrived tho!!!!!!!!

  • i have no idea how he can be so bad at singing !!

  • i have no idea how he can be so bad at singing !

  • there's a poor fuck with a massive shadow over him.

  • I like Sean Lennon but he voice is so freaking annoying

  • it's so touching to see him sing his fathers song, he does it with such tenderness too. I love it. And he looks so much like John!

  • it's so touching to see him sing his fathers song, he does it with such tenderness too. I love it.

  • Holy hell who did this boys hair!

Hes good. Here hes young and hasnt really found his sound or voice or style.

His later stuff it much better.

But this video does make me giggle! :D

  • nice job hey people thats his dad what do u think lennon would say he is proud of his boy,

  • I think Sean here did a good job here. Just following his daddy's steps.

  • I love John too but a think that HERE there is soooo much John's bitches. He IS one of the best, but let other people be musician too for God's sakes, I bet that you bitches don't have even a half of the talent of Sean, he grew up been a musician, you just suck dicks.

  • he has his mums voice, i dont thik he shuda done this

  • i dont care if he was a kid here, what the hell is he doing singing this? nothing to do with his life whatsoever

  • @WallaceMcHenry and when did you know anything bout his life

  • To tell you the truth, with all things considers, I think he is a spoiled brat. I made a video about him when he was very young, but after he got older he acted like everything is a privilege to him because he's a Lennon. Look at the videos of Julian talking about his father... You'll get a whole knew outlook on the whole situation...

    <3~JOHN LENNON FOREVER!!!~<3

  • wow he looks like his daddy

  • AS for me is bull shit.

  • Sean's not the world's worst singer. If you dont like him- why listen? Besides- its his own version of it- not exactly like the original. Julian doesnt do any John Lennon songs at all so be glad Sean does and honors his dad's memory

  • only John Lennon :@

  • here's a thought, since Sean grew up with out his dad physically being there, do you think that he might have felt closer to him when he was doing his dad's and The Beatles music? Forget what he sounds like and think about what these songs could mean to him. If all I had left from my dad were stories and his music, I think I would sing it too.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey guys, as a musician I feel your criticism is harsh. As he is only 9 months old here give the guy a break

  • 0:51 John?

  • Sean is emerging as a major talent. Good. World needs him.

  • Sean, again, you obviously have talent, but please get away from Mommy for about 10 minutes and fucking man up......You sound like a real mommys boy..........Get rid of that little mommy game and I think people will have some respect for you. I respect that your mother is part of your life but fuck, mannnnnnnnnnn up......

  • @conmaesta Dude....he is just a child here! How much of a man should he have been?

  • All the haters probably have cracking voices.

  • Dang... Liked the first couple of seconds, but those damn drums. They dated the shit out of this. Made it sound like 90s garbage.

  • looks like his daddy, sounds good

  • wow.....................

  • it's tribute. and a damn good one.

  • what a lot of people don't realize is that his dad was around the same age when he was getting his musical life off the ground...sean has become a very underrated contribution to modern rock and there should be more of him exposed ,in order to silence all that prefabricted crap that is on the proverbial shit stained underwear that is today's music !

  • Rock on, Sean! You made my day. Was going to go back and edit that, but why? There are no mistakes. :-)

  • I thought it was very good to be honest.

  • of course he is doing a "lennon AND mccartney" song...

  • John had a very distinctive voice, but it was very weak. He got away with it because he was a genius in every way. In many ways, Sean has a better and stronger voice than his father. Imagine everytime someone looks at you, they're measuring you against John Lennon. Frankly, everything we all come off bad. Without that measuring stick, Sean is very good and has the most to offer of the Beatle boys.

  • Carry on your father's spirit, Sean.

  • As a musician, I think half the comments here are full of crap. Sean has talent, and the thing is fact is, he was 12 when he made this. Did you have half that talent? Can you even sing properly? Shut up and stop bashing a video you clicked on yourself.

  • @SchrixZirack

    He doesn't look 12 here.

And why do people always say things like what you did here: "Shut up and stop bashing a video you clicked on yourself."

I've clicked on plenty of videos out of curiosity and disliked them. No reason I shouldn't criticize it if I don't like it.

  • hey come one guys, he's not that bad. its hard to compare to his dad you know.

no one can compare to his dad, just give the guy a chance. i like his song dead meat, the music video's on youtube. look at it, its really not that bad.

  • @OddlyRandomPro Yeah, Dead Meat is awesome.

  • Sean should have listened to his brother, when asked whether he was going to do any of his dads material, Julian said Why? its already been done perfect.

  • if you listen carefully, you can hear something like johns voice and hes not all that bad

  • Yeeeaah! Sean can't sing.

  • sounds like his mom looks like his dad

  • @thebeatlesliveon123 the most perfect comment and fits perfectly for sean...

  • He was young boy when he did this. Not hard to see where he got his talent and bravery to do this. Good for him!

  • obviously, we know who was the more talented son......sorry sean

  • sounds good. Yes he sounds like a girl or a young kid. That works well though is shows a softer innocent side of the song. I like the more modern beat but I would have prefered a real drummer spicing it up. I would give it a B maybe B+. I like it.

  • Not bad

  • He REALLY sounds like a girl. I'm assuming (hoping?) this was when he was a young child? Because I've heard some of his later stuff, and his voice is definitely not this high. I'm guessing he was maybe 12 or younger in this video. Honestly, I'm not real crazy about it, but he had a pretty good voice for a kid.

  • @breakingfree90 John's voice sometimes sounded like a woman's as well... Just listen to him saying "Take your knickers off and let's go" on the Revolution 1 Take 20 song. I love both their voices.

  • @arnosluismans Yeah, but I could always tell he was a man. Like I said though, I'm not insulting Sean. I think he was probably a little kid and his voice just hadn't changed yet.

  • How old is he in this??

  • OoO No words. Should've sent Edgar Allen POE....

  • He sounds nothing like John...omg and he even sounds like a girl.

  • omg it's like John and Yoko crashed into a human!

  • @JohnFuent3s xD!!!

  • fuck u

  • i would feel a bit sorry for him at this age, more than anything else. if you were him and being thrown in at the deep end (which im sure he was) then what else are you meant to do as an adolescent boy... The whole arrangement is sh1t there is no doubting that though... As its said, mhe is older and wiser now and probably lookins back thinking, much the same as we do.

  • @LewisYoung I agree, however if you look intensely at the video you see YOKO, of course, as always the Beatles is the best, however Alanis Morissette is cool too!!! Keep the Faith 1968!

  • It's fine until 0:38.

  • Fools that dont listen. Hes 16 here. Hes a genuis with a heart of gold. John Lennon and Bob Dylan will be the first two musicians talked about in a hundred years. get a life Sean did.

  • @solomonsworld if hes 16 here he is some guitarist because that song is amazingly difficult to play

  • @solomonsworld and paul mccartney..its just amazing how 2 of the best musicians ever happened to write songs together. Its like the dream team of song writing.

  • fuckin awful

  • I thought this was a girl at first. But I knew Sean was a boy. but still.

AND HE RUINED A CLASSIC MAN. >:C

  • .... He made it a goddamn karaoke song from the '80s... Like those cheesy ones with like U2 and Tina Turner. Thank god he grew the fuck up.

  • Julian Lennon sounds more like John Lennon- cause' he's not part Yoko. Julian sounds better- almsot the same except a little nasal voice sometimes.
