  • The triaxis sounds kind of sterile in comparison to the ENGL E570, at least from the videos I've seen of it.

  • awesome rig!!

  • @joeboo22 Playing ability IS NOT what dictates the equipment one should be using. Conversely, the tone one desires IS what dictates the equipment one should be using. This type of music isn't exactly my cup of tea, but he probably has the tone that he is looking for.

  • Do you offer it for lead guitar for live playing ?

  • this may be a dumb question but im new to the whole preamp & power amp thing so here it goes. If I bought the triaxis and fryette 2 two/fifty/two power amp would that be to much for my 100 watt cab to handle?

  • James Hetfield's gear: Roland JC-120 for clean sounds, Mesa/Boogie Triaxis & Diezel head for distortion.

Kirk Hammet's gear: Randall RM100KH heads for clean and distortion (his signature amp), and he also uses some dual rectifiers.

  • could i run this through a marshall jcm2000without stuff like the g major? or is that essential? and how wud i hold the triaxis with the marshall head?

  • You could use the triaxis thru the marshall section by plugging your guitar into the triaxis, then triaxis output into the effects loop retrun of the marshall. this would bypass the marshall preamp but use the poweramp.

  • would you advise doing this? coz i relly want a great heavy tone without the noise created by a none bypass distortion pedal

  • It can be done. I'm not sure whether i'd recommend it or not. For the price of a triaxis to be used just for a heavy tone, you might as well buy a second hand rectifier or something. is it for leads or rhythms or a mix?

  • leads and rhythms. wud i be better with a rectifier then?

  • If you want the mesa sound I'd suggest getting the triaxis and a poweramp of some sorts then you only have to carry the rack around. Is there a reason in particular for wanting to run it thru the JCM?

  • i thought it would be the easiest way to get the killer metallica sound. the jcm is the only amp i have.

  • Depending on how many channels you need you might be as well just buying a mesa head of some sort. I know Metallica have traditionally used Mark series amps. I suggest going into your local guitar store and trying some stuff out to see what you REALLY want.

  • this is so cool, im trying to get enough cash to get all of it. I was thinking of putting a rocktron prophesy 2 after the triaxis for my effects loop, would you recommend this

  • Yeah. The prophecy is a very nice effects unit. Cant really go wrong with it.

  • i have the same set up asfar as amp and pre amp but through 2 marshal 200 watt per.but man i love your 2- 1,12's! i guess i will be pricing those because the big cab's are out of my range right now thanks.

  • what midi contoller do you have ????

  • Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro.

  • What kind of power amp are you using? And what are you other rack effects? Killer riffage, man.

  • info was on the right hand side. ";90 poweramp, bypassed G-major.

  • Dude, where did you get those Mesa cabs? I've never seen any with the logo like that...are they 2x12's?

  • They are 3/4 back C90 1x12s. They are still in production but I bought them second hand. You can find out more about them on the mesaboogie website.

  • thanks man!

  • sweet rack dude

  • I enjoy compliments about my rack. Thanks!

  • were you playing dig by mudvayne at 1:30?

  • No, Seven by Vinyl Future as it states in the sidebar.

  • thanks so much for the settings... sharing is caring

  • how are the 1x12 cabinets with the c90 speakers do they sound as good if not better than v30s?????i am about to buy a 1x12 c90 cab for my dual rectifier

  • I like the C90s. Definitely less "in your face" with less low end compared to the closed back V30s. The cleans are however sublime. Most people go with the closed back V30 cabs with rectifiers and I've not had the chance yet to test a rectifier thru the cabs to compare them to the V30s directly. My bandmates both use rectifiers with closed back V30 cabs so I really just wanted to try something different. The Theile ported C90 cabs are also an (albeit slight more expensive) option.

  • thats a sound,I am so envy,hehe

  • Was the mode you were using based on the mark 4? it makes that grunty low end growl really stand out. nice nice amp.

  • Hey I am looking into gettting basically your rig and i am new to all this. Do you need an amp if you get the tri-axis? and, is the 2:90 necessary, its for power right?

  • You need a poweramp if you're going to run it like this. The Triaxis has Recording outs though if you want to record Directly from the traixis without a poweramp/cabs. Hope that helps.

  • amazing sound!

Can you tell me the parameters of this sound?

    Best wishes from Germany.

    John

  • Settings are on the right if you click "more info".

  • Ignore my other post I found the gear you used in the menue, however what model speakers are in cabs??

  • They are the Oversized C90 3/4 back cabs. If I was being honest I really want a pair of the Mesa Thiele 1x12 cabs and a pair of V30 1x12s but we dont all have the disposible income of Craigmcarthur1 haha!

  • meemawuk

sounds good I like the video, do you have any info on the speaker cabs and settings and what guitar did you use??

  • wow.. sounds like the song AS I AM from dream theater xDD (the first part)

  • How much did the TriAxis and 2:90 cost you?

  • Triaxis was £720 (approx $1400 USD) and 2:90 was £400 ( approx $800 USD)

  • Why is that stool placed there? Do you ever use it, and is it comfy like, say a really comfy one? Is the pollster black, or white?

And if so, why did you choose that specific color?? Is it because it went good with the white walls?

  • Funny - I was thinking the exact same thing. A stool is not just a stool these days... I was looking for a cozy chair, not just a "comfy" one. But it seems that they are extremely hard to find. It costs more than 30 bucks, daylightsavingstime...

  • You're SO right man! What have the world come to? But are we talking about a stool or a chair? I mean, there's a difference after all. To the person posting this vid: How much do you want for your chair? As long as it's oak, i'm interested.

  • Thank you for yout sencere interest in my situation! I am looking for a stoolish chair if you know what I mean. The point is, that stools are more or less out of production, and chairs have taken over. That puts me in trouble, given the high prices. Do you know anyone who might have a stool 4 sale?

  • No sorry! I still have my hopes up regarding this stool. It sure looks nice! A stool is something most people don't appreciate! It's nice to finally talk to someone who actually appreciates a good stool!

  • Yes, but I think he is a con! This is not oak I think! Besides, not all of the stool is shown. It might have a broken leg, og even a tiny turd smudged in the seat. For all we know he might sit naked on that very stool when he jams! We don't know how much force he needs to hit the high notes in "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"! Scary man! A sad reqiuem for a good, comfy chair!

  • It's made of maple, or some sort of maple topped ply. I got it for free when I spent over £100 ($200 USD) on cables and strings. It is currently used as a stand for my Ground Control Pro (midi pedalboard) which I am yet to program. It's not remotely 'comfy' but remarkably 'suitable' for guitar playing. My usual chair is a leather armed recliner and it just doesnt meet 'gutiaring whilst sitting down' standards. Interesting conversation though. Maybe I'll do a stool demo Video. ;-)

  • If this isnt a joke conversation then its the strangest/funniest thing I have read on youtube in a while!

  • What is your 2:90 set at....also what is your Output on the Triaxis at? Thanks, and great sound man.

  • Triaxis output level at 3, 2:90 outputs both at 3oclock. Far from cranked, but enough to get it sounding good.

  • Is deep, 1/2, or Modern on?

  • Nothing engaged. Mainly because of the video being a Triaxis demo. For this kind of tone, I'd usually have it set to Modern.

  • Great video man, can you put more demos about this great preamp, i want to listen his great versatility, great video really.

  • Thanks dude. I plan to demo every channel variation in the not too distant future so feel free to check back in a while.

  • wath's down tunnig??

  • Not sure what you mean but theres no downtuning in the video. It's a 7 string guitar.

  • Sounds beastin man!! Even at lower volume. Gonna be a monster!!

Like the video description format, seems familiar lol

  • ok.. i noticed that above..

  • Yup says over there >>>

  • your ibanez is seriously old school.

  • I think it's important to mention that its the '97' all-black version (no stupid green) that was only produced in small numbers. Yes, it's badass :-D. I'll get it in a future video.

  • which guitar do you use???
