Sorry astrophysicists. I know that data from Hubble Expansion, CoBE, WMAP, primordial element concentrations, galaxy distributions, and type 1A supernova all line up perfectly with the observable universe expanding out of a hot, dense, early state 13.7 billion years ago, but some kid who solved a Calc II problem on Glenn Beck's blackboard one time said he didn't like that theory.
He took an equation and derived it into another, completely useless equation, and then says he doesn't understand the mechanics of light. What's special about that?
When has the speed of light been a constant? In simple calculations, a constant is used because the variance of velocities of light in different mediums is insignificant. I'm sorry but if this kid wants to be successful, people need not to keep shoveling his ego.
If the "sideways acceleration" would be due to space being bent through gravity, from the lights viewpoint it would still travel straight through (bent) space.
Second question I didn't quite understand because of the poor sound quality.
General relativity lets us say that light curves due to space curve, so that acceleration to the sides is relative to an observer who wants to translate light travel into space relative to background space
@DCXDEFCONX5 i'm not jealous, i admire inteligent people... that kid can have a brain the size of a cantaloupe and be "gifted" and "smart"... but he is not inteligent...
Just like bieber... I guess that maybe he is not a bad kid... but external influences telling an immature guy that he is superior... those don't usually end well...
@DCXDEFCONX5 i mean, he himself said he had photgraphic memory... i'll give him that having perfect memory is quite cool... but, that makes school and any exam a breeze... you hear or read something once or maybe a few times and it's already in your memory... normal people need to work hard and use their logic to understand things... When he does a test it's like he had the answer written right there... Sorry i don't see much merit...
knowing how to solve an equation doesnt make you a genius. neither does throwing random words around with incoherent meaning attached to them. all my why

He will only be good at math. Someone should teach him to count cards and make money. Fuck the theory of relativity or BIG BANG.

@MrLagtastic That's very possible. I have Aspergers as well, and my IQ is well above 144 (3 points lower than his), and when I was 12 years old I was a kid. I was a normal kid with normal friends who didn't care for Einsteins theories. I wanted to live my childhood. I'm 15 years old now, and I do a lot of math, but it's not because I like it. It's because I'm in math classes. Also, child genii should not be exposed. I know I certainly wasn't when I was 11 and got my IQ test, and diagnosis.
You do realise that he hasn't actually got a grasp on the theories he's talking about? In fact, much of what saying means "I've come across on these theories and I don't get them". The famous Einstein equation he refers to is E=MC2, meaning "Energy = Mass times the square of the speed of light". So, weigh an item in newtons, multiply it by the speed of light in m/Sec2, you get the amount of energy it's made from in Joules. This is miles less sophisticated that much of what Einstein said.
It seems a little unfair to be posting vids of a kid in this context, before he is mature enough to decide whether he really wants every idea he speaks saved forever on the internet. And whoever wrote the description for this needs some perspective. He is not reinventing physics yet, and it is wrong to give that impression, and its also probably unfair to him to associate such epic promises. I dont doubt that he is exceptionally talented though, and Im sure hell do amazing things.
Leading mathematicians have come out and said that Jacob's math is "non-sensical" and that he's reciting theories he's read, in some cases and in others, just making stuff up. His wikipedia article is now pending deletion apparently. It's still pretty impressive for a kid, but not prodigy impressive, sadly. Apparently, while appearing on Glenn Beck he set out to calculate an infinite sum. His calculation was Sum (Sin(2n)/(1+(Cos(n))^4) (n from 1 to infinity). But this sum never converges.
Don't be a total tool. All greats have challenged the fundamental thoughts of other great scientists. We don't say "Wow, Einstein is a total tool for making Newton look bad by reworking Newton." This young man was on MSN headline news, for all you non believers out there. I tip my hat to him. People like him are the pioneers of our future, simply because he's not living in a world that is only about Iphones, XBOX's, and Facebook, like most of you dunces are. AND FOR ALL YOU HATERS........ SHUT THE FUCK UP. By the time this fella is 21, He'll be developing theories beside Prof. Stephen W. Hawking. Good job Jacob.
ok you guys get mad at this kid for being far more advanced then even albert Einstein and has a higher iq to prove it so intill you pass college in high level astrophysics the shut up and watch
stop giving this kid so much attention. he's not nearly as intelligent as he thinks he is. most of what he says is nonsensical and almost all of what he says that is logically cogent is basic mathematics.
@ThirstyDad65 well, sorry for being jealous... we're just giving credit who is OBVIOUSLY smarter than most people are... and we're just appreciating people who actually KNOW stuff other than how to roll weeds everyday... see? this is whats so shitty about old people... you think us kids cant be better you adults are...
@j3anthony03 "this is whats so shitty about old people... you think us kids cant be better you adults are.."
You are responding to His comment. So the context of this sentence that you wrote implies that "old people" is referring to ThirstyDad65, and others who share His views. That aside I agree with you that this kid is really smart. He has an I.Q. of 170 for goodness sake.
@j3anthony03 are you retarded? and i agree with thirstydad, he for sure is really intelligent, but at the same time, he doesn't seem to grasp all of what he is saying all the time, but he has for sure a lot of potential, im eager to see him get to 18 and on see what he becomes
@j3anthony03 the retarded part was regarding your comment on hold old thirstydad is, you said this is whats so shitty about old people you think us kids cant be better than you adults are, so you were clearly insinuating that he is old. The right to an opinion isnt retarded, but sometimes what people say is lol. You got all cranked up about old people for nothing, as if a 65 yo 'thirsty' dad would name himself just that

@ThirstyDad65 you're 16? i bet YOU were hoping to be the child savant, but jacob blows you out of the water. you know you'll never be as smart, no matter how much studying you do
@ThirstyDad65 look him up. he's actually far beyond his years when it comes to learning. maybe you need more information about the kid before you even comment.
@ThirstyDad65 Eh? If he's not smart, how did he already graduate from Highschool and is taking Advanced Astrophysics courses in college? They wouldn't just let you do that if you spouted mumbo jumbo.
@brtcobalt As much as I am an optimist for the possibilities of a really good education, no, not EVERYONE has the ability to be this smart this early, and if you are just talking generalities, well then, you are missing the point.
I think I would have been able to understand him better if he hadn't been eating at the time. I guess the young genious doesn't like eating the crust on the bread.
See, i marvel at kids like this, and hell probably have a great future ahead of him. I have nothing against this kid, but being 13 myself and with the career i have in mind, he makes everyone else look bad. Again, I have nothing against him.
This was hard to understand acoustically, but it should be noted that some things can go faster than light without contradicting Einstein's theory -- for example if you had a very long pair of scissors the point of intersection as you close them can move faster than light if viewed perpendicular to the plane of th scissors. Also the constancy of the speed of light is not a consequence of the theory of Relativity, but a measurement upon which Relativity is based.
I'm not sure how "point 9 times the speed of light" is supposed to be "slightly larger." 0.9 times anything is smaller than the thing you multiply it by. Maybe he means 0.9 times larger, as in 1.9 times the speed of light? I would not consider that "slightly larger", but I suppose it's all relative.
Einstein's theories break down at the moment of creation and at the center of a black hole (so far). In the seconds following the Big Bang the universe inflated much, much faster than the speed of light. That is the point at where all the protons, neutrons, electrons, etc formed, thus all the matter we see today. A few million years after that they started to condense into atoms. Then after that stars fired up and started creating elements up to iron through nuclear fusion.
u no wat dont be a pissy little a**hole cuz ur not ass smart as him!!! ppl like him help us with science and math 2 give us a better future for u and u just b**** and moan!!!! just wate cuz hes is gunna do grate things wile u just go 2 crap nothin is rong with autism kids u racist buthole!!! just cuz he's smart and ur a sack of potatoes doesnt give u the rite 2 put ppl down!
@jbbang123 well, if you're smart enough, and you already know what to do in those grades, then there si no point in taking them anymore... so you could just skip them instead of waste your time "reviewing"
First of all, congrats to this kid. He is well on is way to understanding the mystery. Einsteins theory isn't wrong at all but is is often measured by modern scientists as an absolute measure instead of an absolute point on a relative scale. This is why your having issues with the theory isn't it? Imagine a circle, with a center point and that point emanates light and every point on that line of light has the relative attributes of the center point. Thus thus points while relative to the....
@DracoJesi center point are absolute to everything that is subject to them... so every point can become it's own circle or universe.... nature is prismatic and the patterns, the intelligences, occur on all levels from the atomic level to the structure of plants and the spiral of galaxies....
In three dimensional terms of manifestation light moves in all directions but when it comes to the vibrational nature of light it is not linear but circular. the vibration moves side to side between...
@DracoJesi poles until it reaches the velocity of C, in which bth poles are in a high state of flux and to go any higher they must become a singularity (that is the two poles become one point) so the center point and circumference of the circle become one and you have a single point within a new circle and so on.... What does this mean? Well for your question about photons it means that yes photons do have mass when measured from the reference point of a higher universe where ours is....
@DracoJesi contained within a single point.... in which our universe is an integer within the larger. But a Photon observed within in which it operates at the speed of C as defined by that universe will be transcendent of matter... not being bound by the laws of manifestation and thus not defined by space-time. this means it is unrestricted and will vibrate at the highest possible level for that universe.... at the threshold...
awesome it does my heart good knowing the human race is getting smarter and by the way he has a mild form of autism and autism helps you focus on things more it not always good but in his case it did wonders
awesome it does my heart good knowing the human race is getting smarter and by the way he has a mild form of autism and autism helps you focus on things more it not always good but in his case it did wonders
I just love how everyone's throwing around different equations and shit (probably copy and pasted from wiki) trying to make themselves feel as smart as this kid. Fucking give it up, you will never be as smart as this 12 year old, lol.
Unfortuatly F=m dv/dt is not the right Definition. One should rather stick to F=dp/dt which will be for classical momentum p=mv and m=const the mentioned F=m dv/dt. In the case of relativity p ist not equal mv and one has to do a little bit more math ... read a textbook about relativity and the answer will be in it! I just give a hint: Also force is a 4-Vector in special relativity
@ejc45 usually i am not getting close to "wrong" - besides that, the child is difficult to understand (from acoustic reason), I dont get the point where he argues that light is "accel. sideways" which in Terms of relativity isnt a prblem because an acceleration perpend. to v doesnt change |v|=c
See Revelation chapter 13 and read about the future antichrist. This boy looks like the one to fill the post that the biblical prophecy describes. ("The whole world wondered about the beast")
For jake: Jake, light doesn't travel at a constant rate. It is only that Eistein used the speed of light as his point of reference for his calculations, and thus maintained that as a constant to make the calculations easier. I would bet you will surpass this in your calculations if you keep this in mind (and now I will be flamed by all the physists and mathemeticians out there and will have my name dragged into the recesses of purgatory). Good luck and keep asking these great questions!
@kaleidomagic : First off I am nothing of a math guy...just a thinker. Being that Light was referenced as a constant is that becasue gravity is thought of as a constant? Basically if light is traveling through the universe and is constantly being affected by different forces of gravity would that not impact the speed of light? Moreover How is light created?
If light accelerates when it is belived to not do so, you must find the variable that is causing the phenomena. once you know and can measure the force behind the acceleration you can come to a definate conclusion, rather than a theory. but good at ya kid. your on the right path. keep it up. :)

Well, he is on the right path. If he want's to understand why light may be accelerated then he should look into the general theory of relativity. He just learned the special theory of relativitiy, which is only valid on a local scale.
Wrong.

This young man was on MSN headline news, for all you non believers out there. Stephen W. Hawking. Good job Jacob.

stop giving this kid so much attention. he's not nearly as intelligent as he thinks he is. most of what he says is nonsensical and almost all of what he says that is logically cogent is basic mathematics.

You are responding to His comment. So the context of this sentence that you wrote implies that "old people" is referring to ThirstyDad65, and others who share His views. That aside I agree with you that this kid is really smart. He has an I.Q. of 170 for goodness sake.

Paulbarbato 11 months ago
I'm not sure how "point 9 times the speed of light" is supposed to be "slightly larger." 0.9 times anything is smaller than the thing you multiply it by. Maybe he means 0.9 times larger, as in 1.9 times the speed of light? I would not consider that "slightly larger", but I suppose it's all relative.
kierkegaardrulez 11 months ago
Einstein's theories break down at the moment of creation and at the center of a black hole (so far). In the seconds following the Big Bang the universe inflated much, much faster than the speed of light. That is the point at where all the protons, neutrons, electrons, etc formed, thus all the matter we see today. A few million years after that they started to condense into atoms. Then after that stars fired up and started creating elements up to iron through nuclear fusion.

DracoJesi 11 months ago
@DracoJesi center point are absolute to everything that is subject to them... so every point can become it's own circle or universe.... nature is prismatic and the patterns, the intelligences, occur on all levels from the atomic level to the structure of plants and the spiral of galaxies....
In three dimensional terms of manifestation light moves in all directions but when it comes to the vibrational nature of light it is not linear but circular. the vibration moves side to side between...
DracoJesi 11 months ago
@DracoJesi poles until it reaches the velocity of C, in which bth poles are in a high state of flux and to go any higher they must become a singularity (that is the two poles become one point) so the center point and circumference of the circle become one and you have a single point within a new circle and so on.... What does this mean? Well for your question about photons it means that yes photons do have mass when measured from the reference point of a higher universe where ours is....
DracoJesi 11 months ago
@DracoJesi contained within a single point.... in which our universe is an integer within the larger. But a Photon observed within in which it operates at the speed of C as defined by that universe will be transcendent of matter... not being bound by the laws of manifestation and thus not defined by space-time. this means it is unrestricted and will vibrate at the highest possible level for that universe.... at the threshold...
Light as particle or wave now.
Look at the Golden Mean, Phi.

I just give a hint: Also force is a 4-Vector in special relativity
bastianfrom77 11 months ago 13
@bastianfrom77 all of you guys are getting close but not close enough.
ejc45 11 months ago
@ejc45 usually i am not getting close to "wrong" - besides that, the child is difficult to understand (from acoustic reason), I dont get the point where he argues that light is "accel. sideways" which in Terms of relativity isnt a prblem because an acceleration perpend. to v doesnt change |v|=c

Good luck and keep asking these great questions!
kaleidomagic 11 months ago
@kaleidomagic : First off I am nothing of a math guy...just a thinker. Being that Light was referenced as a constant is that becasue gravity is thought of as a constant? Basically if light is traveling through the universe and is constantly being affected by different forces of gravity would that not impact the speed of light? Moreover How is light created?

If light accelerates when it is belived to not do so, you must find the variable that is causing the phenomena. once you know and can measure the force behind the acceleration you can come to a definate conclusion, rather than a theory. but good at ya kid. your on the right path. keep it up. :)

I couldn't hear half the shit he was saying because somebody was using the microwave.
HoodCoderMan 11 months ago
Well, he is on the right path. If he want's to understand why light may be accelerated then he should look into the general theory of relativity. He just learned the special theory of relativitiy, which is only valid on a local scale.
