  • Genesis is the Genesis ... Ferever.

  • LMAO! "a waste of a facial"? How appropriate.

  • Who the fuck would thumbs down THIS? Seriously? Again I say, some baggy-pantsed, uneducated, Fitty Cent sucking bottom feeder? Here's a finger up to your thumbs down.

  • @GuyWithGuitars1 Well played, sir!! LOL! We should just be happy this waste of a facial doesn't like Genesis!

  • Truly a great song....!!!!

  • :))

  • Goosebumps xx

  • AirTrashed is about to speak...shhhhhh! or he/she will beat u up...god loves u anyway sweetie...get a run in ur stocking 6 hours ago dat pizzed u off? oh really, it was something else? 2 bad, my bad, we're bad, his bad, their bad but not ur bad...go back to sleep ashed

  • @godisdeadagain You're correct! I didn't have a clue as to what you meant - you obviously don't either. You got your degree in gibberish. Speak in terms where humans can understand - you lack direction, clarity and purpose. Grab a mirror when you use psychological terms of which you're unfamiliar. Anyone who has been to high school would not fall into the "projection" trap you set for yourself. The person you're describing is YOU. Get some counseling.

  • @AirTrashed yes father...i will do so right away...u r so correct my father, now take ur meds and go back to bed daddy. u seem so troubled daddy. please take that nap. ;))))))))))))))))))))) aww dats beautiful

  • Maybe my favorite Genesis song of all. I saw the Lamb performed live at Golden Hall in San Diego in 1974. I have been to many concerts dating back to 1969 (I'm old) and I've never seen nor experienced anything like it since. Critics talk about the flaws, however, I saw few at that performance. Banks, Rutherford and Hackett were outstanding. Collins' drumming was state of the art. Gabriel was mind-blowing. Visuals were stunning. Brilliantly-conceived. Timeless.

  • An absolute assault on formula. Pop rules again like it did pre-65-Beatles and post punk. This band would not have had an impact outside college radio and Philly's own WXPN had they formed in 85 or later. Dear god of risk...have mercy on our ears and souls by bringing forth more alternatives to today's crap.

  • @godisdeadagain Spoken like a true aficionado of brainless, commercial pop. Maybe you're right - God is dead again. I would blame him too if MY ears weren't connected to my brain! Now go sue the surgeon that performed your lobotomy. He's a fraud. You didn't need it after all!

  • @AirTrashed Aww Dats Beautiful - 2 bad u have no clue as to what I said, but I don't blame u, it's ur god's fault for that is how he made u. Enjoy ur intellectual fantasies...u certainly r not 1. but i'm sure there is a child in there somewhere, lost, hurt, humiliated by shame and poor grooming habits, a child dying to get out and just beat someone up...go ahead dear child, i'll b ur punching bag...i'm big enough sweetie...bring on the pain :)

  • this song is my lovely song GENESIS.it's fabulous

  • just mind boggling greatness

  • Para sempre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brill.

  • Just found this album in my basement-vinyl i cant believe it gonna have to crank up the stereo-here come the cops!

  • traped on celuliod. better than coke! llllllll

  • Writing and everything about this "album" was oh so good. I didnt even know who Aerosmith was because I was so into Genesis, Pink , JTT and Metallica.

  • Genesis is Peter Gabriel. When he left the band wasn't Genesis anymore.

  • @thegerrie19561 Peter Gabriel had, at most, a minor role in the The Cinema Show, Watcher of the Skies, Apocalypse in 9/8, Firth of Fifth, and this whole album. Are these not classic examples of Genesis?

Go ahead and bash their later stuff if that's what gets you off, just don't take away the credit from the rest of the band for the amazing music they produced.

  • That's Peter on lead vocals, Phil Comes in later. It's not about choosing sides it is the fact they both proved themselves as artists.

  • Ein klasse Stück,bin immer wieder Begeistert wenn ich es höre! Diese steigerung von ebbe zur Flut, ganz toll gemacht! Gänsehaut!!!

Anyway, it is a great song, I like it very much... and I like Peter..

  • @unicorn1115 Wait Phil was the lead part in this song? I did not know that.

Anyway, this is brilliant, and I am fortunate enough to see Peter live this summer.

  • @unicorn1115 Excuse me? It's Peter's voice. Collins was on drums/backup vocals.

  • La Taca - Tona.

    Petons a totes ...

  • I dedicate this song to olli k........I had one of the best times in my life , when i heard this song for the first time... thank you olli.....

  • i dedicaded this song to olli...i had one of the best times in my life when i first heard this ong... thank you....

  • Absolutely great song. Always was a huge fan of art-rock/prog-rock. Genesis, Floyd, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Fripp, Eno, et al. Great movement!

    LOVE this song!

For those not exposed to them check out Talk Talk. Great evolution from really well crafted pop rock to basically non-commercial but thoughtful proggish rockish acid jazzy stuff (really thrilled their lable ;-)

    Peace y'all!

  • another genesis song i listened to on my run tonight (it was minus -4 deg) warmed me n spurred me on. beautiful timeless song... mild mannered superman.... absolutely perfecto! lifes good . peace

  • I know what you mean, man. It's the vibe of the song that keeps you going. Great comment, thank you. Peace from Holland.

  • Great Song

  • A song for humans only...

  • This song is so beautyfull!

  • einfach ein super lied erinnert mich an meine jugend

  • I love Hacketts beautiful guitar line in the back ground. Nice idea Steve. You should've been allowed to rip more on the records.

  • Great chill out song !

  • sometimes you fool in love

  • Nice Song! Thanks for Sharing. :)

  • Agreed.

I can still enjoy And Then there Were 3 too.

Also, Duke's travels and Duke's end is great.

  • As do I. I like ATTWT as much as the Genessi

  • As do I. I love ATTWT as much as the albums before, and after, it. I got the recent reissues, except We Can't Dance. I love 'em! Does anyone else?

  • Why have you not picked up We Can't Dance? No Son Of Mine, Driving The Last Spike, Dreaming While You Sleep & Fading Lights are all on that album/cd. Very artistic material.

  • Too pop for me

  • the song is about a group of spermatoziods crowling on the vagina.the character reachs the passage and gets to the chamber of 32 doors(utero).then the fertilization(lamia song9.9 song later you have "it".the newborn.wacth the video

  • You're boring.

  • One of the best albumns from the 70's.

Highly overlooked. Lots of talent in the band waiting to explode.

  • what a great song.. the lyrics are incredible and what makes this even better is how it builds from a delicate sound to nice easy crescendo.. truly a beautiful work of art

  • This is such an awesome song that often gets overlooked! Thanks for posting!

  • Hmm, I may seem like a new age maggot, but I like the '07 version.

  • One of my favorite 10 Songs EVER.

  • this is 100 times better than the 1999 version.

  • I FEEL DIZZY.

  • Peter Gabriel was the creative brains behind Genesis, Phil Collins is pure Edam! Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was Gabriel's baby and the rest of the band have never come close to matching it.

  • to say gabriel is geniuos is understated.

"for my second sight of people, they've more lifeblood than before. you tell me why

  • actually Gabriel had almost nothing to do with the writing of the music, but demanded on writing the lyrics by himself

  • Gabriel was the lyricist, true, but most of the musical directions were actually by Tony Banks. Most of the music you hear on the Lamb is also by rest of the band as well.

  • the group was always more than the individuals and it was magic.i was from a place where the top 40 was king and one person had the guts to turn us on to this stuff on FM.so don't dis anyone who went for the their careers.what doo you do with your life.p.s. i think phil was the greatest.

  • people are always complaining about peter gabriel having left genesis a short while after this album, but it's no wonder as the band had reached a peak. it was time to move on... oh well.

  • I have to say Gabriels voice is Better than Collins Great song

  • @Trainspotter1951 --yea, really two different bands, that should have took a new name. ie "the sellouts" or something like that.

  • "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" is one of those masterpieces that never ages, it's timeless. To really appreciate it listen to it with headphones, it's mind blowing.

  • not only headphones but the ablum cover along with the album sleves to get the whole story

  • This Album is in my top ten and always will be, just great it reminds me of when I first moved away from home too many years ago, Great !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my favorite songs of all time. Just brilliant.

  • @pesse123 Agree, I think its there best. The song crawls all over you until you submit.

  • 2:40. My Favourite Part :)

    Phil Collins, EXELLENT Voice.

  • @els0073 the vocal is by Peter Gabriel/

  • Holaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Andreaaaaa... besos besos y abrazos!!!

  • omg

  • Out of all the songs I've heard in my life, I have yet to find one that feels anything close to this one. I can't even describe it...it's just mind-blowing.

  • This is the greatest rock opera of all time. Always takes me away

  • at this moment someone is listening to this song with eyes wet by tears

  • this song makes me feel like I can fly away as I move closer to the edge of the rooftop to step off of it and fly away...ah, but it's only a song son of a bitch! and it's only a feeling. or is it?

    -Muhldoon

  • Just brilliant.

  • This song just brings tears to my eyes, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why...

  • Dom -- that's a very normal reaction, IMO -- especially if you've profound feelings and thoughts, and you're self-contemplative. It's all about self-examination and getting to who you really are at your core. It's about understanding yourself.

It makes me cry, too. Always. :-)

  • Wow...you are very wise. Thank You for teling me this.

  • Thank you Dr. Bunny Boo, I was wondering about that!

  • You are not alone!! lol!

  • lol

  • Maybe subconciously you know that song is about life and birth. We've gotta get in to get out. The woman concieves and then gives birth.

  • Well I've known that for some time, but forgive me for not seeing exactly why that would make me.....heheh.....cry... ?

The joy of new life, perhaps?

  • i cant believe gabriel let why?

  • Beautiful. Incredible album and song.

  • Fantastic song.

Peter, Steve, Tony, Phil and Mike in Zenith.

    Oh yeah!

  • This is one of few absolute masterpieces of musical art.I've listened to this album for over 25 yrs. and I'm still amazed at the depth of the music and the lyrics. Listening to it never grows old. From beginning to end you are drawn into the story, feeling every pain, joy, desperasion, crazyness, etc. that Rael encounters through his journey. It's a religeous experience. Memorize the lyrics and you'll see what I mean. It's hard to think of an equal. Maybe "Dark Side of the Moon"

  • Pete sings not phil.

  • You'd never believe it's the same person who sang "Su Su Sudio" .

    What a sea-change.

  • Well the lead vocals on this song that you mostly hear is Peter Gabriel, but the harmonizing in the background is Phil.

Good point though, that Phil Collins at one point was part of something more elaborate than his 80's pop songs.

  • This was definetly Peter Gabriel, not Phil Collins. Phil sucks.

    One of my favourite albums.

  • Phil Collins sang "Su Su Studio", this is Peter Gabriel singing "CARPET CRAWLERS" ........Dumbass

  • "fredrums"

When TWO people sing on a song, such as Collins & Gabriel for example, it's often called a harmony. That's what you're listening to on Carpet Crawlers and thus my comment on Collins later singing Su Su Sudio.

    I hope this helps.

  • toller song!!!! ;-))

  • awesome work man keep it up

  • Great album...great times.

  • There are no minds like the men who were in this band. None. And that's just it.

  • Couldn't agree more. Pure geniuses in music. How does a band create a double album like The Lamb? It's too great.

  • Well, they did it painstakingly, and they filled the glass that was their work with every drop of sweat, so as not to waste the water they drank!!!

  • Agreed. Genesis, @ least with Gabriel, were visually, lyrically, and musically amazing! Not to knock the Phil era, as I like both. I'm Counting Out Time 'til the Genesis reissues

  • Yeah, but my little line there was stupid. :P

Uh, the phil collins era reissues are all already done!!!

Now we're waiting for the gabriel era ones...

  • Yes, I know. Have the Phil reissues

  • Me too...I just wish they did the live albums too...which I haven't seen any plans for...

  • I read interview with Nick Davis, Genesis co-producer and mixer, which said after the studio albums are done then the live albums should be next in line. He says he is also planning to remix Three Sides Live DVD

  • Oh my!!! That's...that's FANTASTIC!!! YAY!!!

  • This is one of the best composed studio albums ever! They were the Rembrandts of music. Absolute icons. Not many could come close.

  • @gtgitgo I was lucky enough to see 6 of the best. Don't look like it will ever happen again

  • this IS the most unique band ever. this classic line-up is awesome. i can't believe they made such music. as one man described it as " blending the beautiful and the sinister ", thats the most apt description of this composition. love early genesis

  • Cela me rapelle le mois de juin 76, alors que j'étais en "voyage" a Paris (Brie) et que j'écoutais cet album a longueur de journée.

    J'adore cette chanson.

    Merci
