Damn you Ulster Irish haha if only you would sing it in Déise Irish haha, all that said its a beutiful song and i realise its about Donegal so theres a reason for the Ulster Irish haha.
I've listened to them all, and Paul Brady puts so much feeling into the music and the words. Is iontach maith sin! Go raibh mile maith agat a Paul. Is brea liom! As Texas.
Uh, let's see---it couldn't be "Paul Brady" singing "Gleanntain Ghlas Ghaoth Dhobair", could it? Just a wild guess.
Interesting to hear the original Gaelic over a tune I only knew as "Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore" from Paul's great 70s folk album "Welcome Here Kind Stranger".
These lyrics in Irish were written later than the "Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore" lyrics, so they're not the original lyrics. There probably were Irish lyrics that have been lost. These are great and have become popular.

I'm a Paul Brady fan, but I dislike this rendition. He sounds tremulous and arrhythmic.

Gaelic sounds really beautiful!
English sounds kind of dirty.
O, We have to use this dirty language...

@yosti2007
GO and catch a falling star,
Get with child a mandrake root,
Tell me where all past years are,
Or who cleft the devil's foot,
Teach me to hear mermaids singing,
Or to keep off envy's stinging, And find What wind
Serves to advance an honest mind.
Yes indeed. A dirty language. Why don't you give it up and speak another instead?

Tå Seapåibis agam. (I speak Japanese).
However this language is so effected by Bearla.(English)
I wish our country were occupied by NOT the Anglo-Saxons but the Gael.
(After the World WarⅡ)
Then we could have had a much more beautiful language...

@djsedd Listen to the opening of the video and find the open tuning of the guitar first. All the chord formations are created around that.

If you can't hear Mairead sing this, his version isn't a bad replacement.

Funny that the link in the text on the right links to my forum entry, where I added the chords to the lyrics. :)
Is maith liom amhrán seo. Ach ní chonaic me leagan eile na leagan le Altan. Tathníonn leagan le Paul Brady go mór liom! Ar fheabhas! :)
