  • The level design is shit, as it's all over the place and the collision detection is a bitch sometimes when rolling down slopes and you suddenly let go without doing anything.

    I just quoted SomecallmeJohnny, but I don't care. :P

  • I think the reason why people love it is because of the time travel aspect. There's also the Time Stones, gotten through bonus stages which are accessed the same way as Sonic 1.

  • Im going to guess you aren't going to do the Windows version of this

  • Defenetely NOT the best 2d Sonic game.SOnic 3 And Knuckles is the best 2d one imo

  • Wow, another Sonic game we have the same opinion about, other than Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

  • good but trippy sonic game... you can def tell it was developed before sonic 2. I could never figure out how to solve all the 'future' and 'past' time warp stuff in this one...

  • I liked this Sonic. :)

  • Nice video, this is a decent Sonic game.

  • This is still my favorite Sonic game.

The level design is odd because there's three different time zones and you get to see areas and items in other time zones. Also, areas where you keep being bounced around are put there intentionally to travel to other time zones. To get the best ending you need to go to all three time zones on each level, destroy a capsule in the past and destroy the projector in the future. Also, he boss levels change if you do this on the first two levels of a zone.

  • I find this one really fun. Don't really mind the level Design up until the very last Zone. I really liked the Past, Present and Future concept and trying to get the good future was fun. This is close to being one of my favourites but definitely not the top.

  • The level design in this game is atrocious. I call b.s. every time someone wants to call this a great Sonic game or god forbid the best one. It doesn't have great music what Sonic game doesn't? Also some of the zones look really nice and have great sense of depth in the backgrounds. Still I would take Sonic 1,2,3&Knuckles over this any day.

  • The people that say it's the best were probably the ones that played it back in the day and are having a fit of nostalgia. This came out a bit after Sonic 2 in the US, and back then it pretty much blew away any Sonic game we had at the time. Plus, like you said in the Chaotix review, there was so much shit on the Sega CD that having a game that actually made owning the console worthwhile was like a breath of fresh air.

  • Now that all is said and done, it just doesn't feel like that huge a deal. Still a fun game; I bought it for iOS and it's a fun little game for the few bucks it cost me.

  • I have to agree with what some others have said. The game isn't bad at all, but the level design is rather haphazard. That, and if you want to finish the game with the best ending, it's....rather difficult, even for Sonic standards.

  • This game seems like it would have been much better with a bit more thought into the level design, and if the controls weren't so wonky. Doesn't really look bad but... area for improvement, by a lot.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this game is overrated.

  • I hate the level desing in this one.

  • Sega rules

  • Assgasm. XD Sounds like a very satisfying shit your pants fart.

Not a fan of this one really. The earlier zones are fine and dandy, but a couple of later zones just made me rage quit because the level design felt like something someone with to much ambition built it. It never felt coherent.

The bonus stage is pretty cool though.

  • Sonic CD is good and all. But Sonic 3 and Knuckles the complete story is still the best Sonic for me at least.

  • @DuskForte I think all of the Sonic games progressively became better up until Sega dropped out of the console industry after the Dreamcast. Some would say that's good because then, Sega could focus on the Sonic games but that didn't prove for the better. Sonic CD was great along with 1, 2, 3 and the other prior spinoff games. I love them all.

  • @nensondubois True. There all good in there own ways. but there will always be one of those games where it is your favorite. To me the last great Sonic game was at least Adventure 2. After that it was hard for me to pick up the rest. I wanted to give Sonic chronicles the Dark brotherhood. but didn't really get the chance.

  • @DuskForte After Sonic Adventure 2 the series became over-saturated with characters and the story didn't really have grounds and everything drifted away from thereon.Sega tried to step back in Time recently but all of the original staff vanished making it nearly impossible to have another great sonic game.

  • @nensondubois I didn't find Generations bad, Then again I am just going off by the demo. Ill have to see for myself. At this point Archie comics so far can make a good Sonic story. I think it's about time they hired new people for Sonic Team at least.

  • @DuskForte Generations wasn't the worst of the newer ones but there is still a hint of "we tried, we failed, sorry!" Never read any of the comics. Hiring new people is fine as long as Sega orients the new employees toward the old Sonic ways. I'd like to see at least one great 3D game and on equally incredible 2D platformer Sonic game until Sega drops the series.

  • @nensondubois What are you talking about Generations is awsome.Defenetely the best of the recent Sonic games(but then again with failures like Unleashed and Black Knight that´s not too hard to do)
