  • I'm so slow I didnt kow luther had a role in meteor man miss luther so much

  • hello Friday afternoon!

  • its s refreshing to hear music with real instrumentation. none of that artificial stuff. I'm from the year 2075.

  • back in the days people only had BEATS BY LUTHER

  • Oh Luther, you'll never be too much for me. LOVE YOU

  • love you love you love you!!!!

  • I cant even touch the Keyboard 30 Haterz and I added 2 this is real music i

    I guess they are single!!!

  • 29 people didn't follow the damn train to San Fierro alongside Big Smoke

  • Music this good will still be relevant a thousand years from now. I say this because I'm a time traveler from the year 3012.

  • What a voice, I saw Luther three times as and when he toured in the UK - absolutely amazing. R.I.P Luther.

  • Love you Luther

  • THEY HAVE BOOMBOXES IN THIS VIDEO.

    YEESSSSSSSS.

  • Who else is digging this 1980's NYC footage?

    It's bringing me back!!!!

  • People, you who wan't 80's back (including me but I'm just a teenager), why not bring them back? Raise your voice!

  • voce tem razao , e muito melhor que essa porcaria de hoje

  • Now THIS is real music!

  • @xloisxisxcoolx 1980's music is the best, but I still don't think it's that "real". I mean in 70's and more likely 60's, 50's, 40's, 30's, 20's and before music was only made with real instruments and singing, but in 70's and especially 80's there were synthesizers etc. which aren't THAT real, but I don't even care because 1980's music is really too awesome.

  • @goldbullet50 Ahh you've got a good point there. At any rate, it's better than the crap they're producing these days.

  • @xloisxisxcoolx Anything is better than today's crap! :)

  • @goldbullet50 haha, amen to that!

  • Luther and Marcus Miller (on Bass) winning team.

  • Gta vice city Bring me here: when i hear the music i just stop dryving and listen it !

  • luthor you were the king, danced with so many girls to this song thanks for the memories uploader

  • What a huge and amazing song !!!

  • This is when you couldn't consider yourself an artist by simply sounding like everyone else. Now, you listen to a song and don't have a clue as to who is the person. There is no mistaken Luther Vandross for anyone else. Also, he is not gone from us. As long as we keep rocking his music, he will always live on. Never too much of Luther.

  • 0:29 Eighties baby here, Love this music.... I remember tape players..... but JEZZUS!

  • God, this music gives me goosebumps, such a phenomenal song.

  • Luther is the Male , Aretha Franklin and by that I mean ...He is The KING of Soul and R&B ...He is in THAT category .... I know of no other male singer who can do what Luther does , as a vocalist ... He is another singer like Aretha , that has NO Peers !! xo

  • This is like one of the most re-done songs that was sung on Apollo. Everybody and their mama tried to come on there singing this song.

  • 28 dislikes?...I'm confused

  • 1000 songs from you is never too much ...

  • Luther Vandross in this video looked like Sheldon Reynolds!

He was the guitarist for Earth,Wind & Fire.

  • BIG TUNE. BIG VOICE. BIG TALENT! MUCH MISSED. x

  • i think i was born in the wrong era, i sometimes wish i was able to experience the era with these tracks on the air, imagine listening to the radio with these tracks all the day long. That would be a great feeling then.

  • @tonijr5551 DUDE, I feel the same way, that's why I'm grateful for youtube and pandora. I can listen to all of the stuff my father used to play, being a 50's baby. I'm still a teenager, but i'm seeing that we can bring this genre back if you use the right people. : )

  • luther ,alexander o`neal,al green, barry white, freddie jackson, ect, ect, singers.give me the old days any day

  • @carlsburgh totally agree with you, went to new york last year from uk to see freddie jackson, and his concert got cancelled last minute, gutted!!!

  • Wouldn't it have been great to have seen Luther to have teamed up with Isaac Hayes and Barry White just one time?!

  • Thumbs up on the song...thumbs down on the vid..but thats the 80's for ya

  • this so gets the day started when ur in the shower getting ready lmfao :D. just jamming and shit :3

  • Hard to believe such a talented man is gone from us but we have to remember he's in a much better place than we are. He's a true angel with an angelic voice in singing in Heaven everyday. We (the fans) miss you Luther! R.I.P.

  • sensacional

  • spent way to much on this video! the story line was so complex! why did they just shoot him singing in the studio? i could have created a way better video for this song. <3

  • @checkavanz101 'Who needs to go to work to hustle for another dollar, Id rather be with you cos you make my heart scream and holler'. Speaks so true...

  • @ninoskanna Got that right!

  • @checkavanz101 definitely!!

  • This is another way 2 talk 2 my mom. Another one of her favorites. And til this day I still know what good music sounds like, and it all started with Luther. Thank you Mom & Thank you Luther.

  • reminds me of henrys nite club when this was in the charts in hull.

  • Also to those who hate Justin Bieber and such.. I haven't heard any of his music, but only time will tell if he is good or not.. Every artist goes through a period of time where it's either their art or them that survives. I mean if their only value is in what people see of them, they will enter heartbreak and probably die off drugging themselves to get back to "that love", or they will try to live up to being a good musician.

  • But it was the height of the commercial studio, today we have the freedom to produce music on our computers, but that back then was a luxury of large studios, and part of becoming a popular musician was to have access to that. Computing power is so accessible now, but the art (with the reduction in music programs in public schools and such) has been somewhat lost.. If it weren't for media like youtube, nobody would have been able to share this, and its ironic that the music industry wouldn't.

  • I think the music video does more to preserve the mood of the time in the 80s and the song inside that than the song would do by itself. You get the people going through the city with their boom boxes and walkmans, it was a time of independence, though the song was praise from one to another of the value of being in love. Also note to those who are too young to remember this time, sequencing and synthesizers, drum machines were just being introduced and this doesn't seem to use any of that.

  • This song is awesome..

I only now discovered the video, its always good to find one of those music videos that inhabit your week and thoughts,, '

  • only early Marvin Gaye's voice could hold a candle next to Luther's in my opinion...

    i;m talking smooth,silky R&B soul singing....

both in Heaven, singing in God's presence

    and God is Smiling!

  • @GREEDisGOODxyz So tru!

  • It's never too much...

  • Chooooooooooon !!!!

  • THE BEST OF THE BEST

  • marcus miller doing his thang' a cooldance track with real musicians and luthers smooth vocals early 80's funk!

  • so what he's probably singing about a dude, still a great tune, his first hit i think.

  • myyyyy jammmmmm

  • You can't even see the dislike bar. And that top comment was written 3 months ago; I assume it was even smaller then. You can't expect everyone to harmonize like this track.

  • ooooh that voice. :D

  • P. diddy said "Michael made me see the beat"

Luther makes you feel the lyrics

  • Ah, Luther RIP. Such a greart artist. So admired and so sadly missed! But the great thing about YouTube is that we can always hear and see you, so therefore you are always with all of us! I'm so glad that you are!

  • let me tell you that english is my second language, and i love songs in english ,and i heard this song for the first time in 1983 I was 17, and every time I hear it is like the first, why now nobody in the usa make this kind of music anymore , I don't understand, im from Maracaibo, Venezuela

  • THIS IS R&B

  • I stilllll Love this song!!!!!!!

  • Love this song - love Luther Vandross. His phrasing is so brilliant and a voice like warm honey. I try to educate my kids about artists like Luther - where are all the great soul singers and songs today?

  • luther was a beautiful soul with a beautiful voice!!!! I am 63 and raised in the south and I have never had a prejudiced thought in my whole life and I was raised around a lot of prejudiced people. I thank God for this. I have always judged people on what kind of person they are-not on race, religion or sexual prejudice. Luther is just soso greatly missed!!!! Thank you for posting!!!!!!

  • @dogcat126 ur A WISE SOUL :)

  • @dogcat126 You know how jealous I am? You have seen the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's unlike me. I mean I did see the 90's and it was a great time. For me it was like modern day, of course when as a kid I develop my world view, and it was just a normal time to me. Now I actually classify these 2000's as a "future".

  • @dogcat126 ....I AM ASHAMED, I DID'NT KNOW THAT LUTHER VANDROSS HAD PASSED-ON TO THE GREATER REALM , YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL PERSON ,,,DON'T EVER CHANGE SHARE YOUR LOVE AND KNOWLEDGE WITH THE YOUNGER GENERATION <3 X

  • Me and my girlfriend love this song, would have it as our wedding dance but her parents did so can't! :( Dislikes are trolls just doing it to raise peoples heckles cos they have nothing better to do,fucktards! R.I.P. Luther!

  • So sad that Luther Vandross could never be open about his homosexuality when he was alive and that his romantic songs are made out to be about women. What a beautiful voice and what a tragically short time he spent with us.

  • Awesome---just awesome!

  • You have no Soul if you dont like Luther....

  • This is classic!!!!!!

  • Sony walkmans.... music was PHYSICAL back then, not any virtual bits on an MP3

  • Classic, period.

  • Pure class. This broke all barriers and still is one of the very best soul songs to come out of the 80s. As to the man, I still listen to him as much as I can. Legends never die, they just play on.

  • 1 of my all time greats, brilliant lyrics luther superb voice

  • I'm sorry LLEESSLLIEE but are you? You simply cannot compare him to Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway or Luther Vandross, he's not even in the same league. As a perfomer he was faultless but as a singer he was sadly lacking. He was good until he started to mess up his body with surgery. After that he was at best an average singer. Forget the hype just listen to the voice and if you believe he is as good as Luther you might just need a hearing aid

  • <3 this so much. so so much.

  • Why is it the top comment is from some ignorant who is afraid of change in music...

  • @jjjackson5564 Some new music is great, I think that beats were more raw and prominent in R&B and Hip-Hop New Jack Swing pre 1999. 808's!

  • Luther kinda Look Like my Daddy Here But he is so Handsome *NOT MY DAD* but Luther i Luv u n Miss U

  • YES!!!!!! YES!!!!! YES!!!!! EARGASM!!!!!!!

  • Why do people die. If this plane is only a stop, ...why, ...what.

  • We've lost so many great singers over the years including Luther, Isaac Hayes, Solomon Burke, Donny Hathaway, James Brown, Barry White and Levi Stubbs. All fabulous voices rich in soul and feeling. Their like will never be seen again. Kids today no nothing about music. Sample and autotune is all they know. They can't sing live, hell most can't even sing in the studio. Enjoy these wonderful posts from those who truly understand great music. BTW I didn't include Michael Jackson. His voice was weak

  • straight from the heart.....never too much!!!

  • 2:07 says EXACTLY how i feel about the song ...completely jammin

  • Who taps there feet to Fin Lady GAGA ????

  • Music used to mean something !!!!!!!!!!

  • Clavical1 PMSL hahaha

  • Now a simple video like this never gets bored because the song is a great song. In todays music they give you elaborate videos in order to distract you from the crappy music.

  • yeah1

  • its crazy this good singer is gay makes me think who is he singin to

  • one of many favourites from luther.....a grammy award for this song,it's a shame he did not get a grammy for all his songs.....R.I.P. the main man.Cool Runnings - peace be the journey.

  • nyc was more hipper in 82 than it is now,who says nostalgia is dead?..its life

  • happy to live that year, great song

  • Whoever dislikes this must be musically retarded !!

  • love the song but Steven merchant and Ricky Gervais where right its a bit like whoa there when he sings 'Woke up today, looked at your picture just to get me started'

    O.O

  • this was my jam in high school in Jamaica

  • starting my day with this always be inspired with luther vandross i blame my dad <3 him n mum too and all my family at that

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE LUTHER RECORD HANDS DOWN.

  • 2:28 he did not have to do that lil chipper dip ..like.... to much to his surprise there you standing..lol

  • 0:34 he HIt THe mic HArd..lol .. just like a NIGGa

  • I know this music from mine father, I'm only 19 years old. Great music though

  • this will never die

  • RIP LUTHER VANDROSS

    RIP MICHAEL JACKSON

    RIP OLD HIP HOP

    RIP GOOD MUSIC

music is garbage today. i dont kno wat happen to music today. it sickens me how music today is so horrible. no rhythm, no meaning, IT JUST HORRIBLE!!!!. the wacky musicians that pple love to hear is justin bieber, lady gaga, and others that i dont give a fuck about. their polluting music. there music is not originally created, its autotune created!!! but anywayz LIFE AS WE KNOW IT!!!!

  • @soullover3000 You have to look for it, Its there! Musical art is a constant. Good Art never dies. Do you really think Da Vinci and Bill Withers felt the same way? C'mon. Are you adding or subtracting?

  • @soullover3000 You're absolutely right you have to over look to find something decent but there's some exceptions today i.e. Joss Stone, John Legend ...

  • @soullover3000

If there is a god...Luther will be sitting right next to him..

  • @soullover3000 PREACH!!!!

  • @soullover3000 ,so ture nd im only 12
