  • jene harlow and marilyn monroe look so much alike

  • So beautiful. I don't know if it's the hair, the makeup, or what it is, but women just don't look like this anymore. There's just something about the way women looked in the 20's and 30's.

  • I'm so proud to live in the home town of this lovely lady :)))))

  • She left too early. :((

  • @029Mhelz Was anyone aware that Luka Magnotta is Jean Harlows cousin ??

  • Love her :)

  • Part of the golden era in hollywood, were the film stars had personalities and made a mint for the studios. Not like hollywood today few big female stars.

  • The original and first blonde bombshell because of her she inspired other blonde bombshells like marilyn, jayne, Lana turner, pamela, gwen stefani, playboy bunny blondes and the list goes on and on we love you jean you are sheek elegant and beautiful!!!!_

  • she was a stunning lady, no wonder milions want to emulate her.

  • she would have been one of the best there was among Davis, Hepburn and a few others..she was an amazing actress with a great timing as if she was Garbo..she died so young..too early..

  • she was sooo young when she died, poor thing, her kidneys just went out on her.

  • I adore Jean

  • The music couldnt be more fitting. I feel like I am in the 30's with satin sheets ,tufted headboard, and waiting for my lover to come and admire me and say things they only said back then and WITHOUT using the F word over and over. You know men with imagination and an actual vocabulary. Champagne and dancing in the dark...........

  • I really enjoyed this. I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos.

  • Jean Harlow was so beautiful and talented.

What a shame she died so young.

Her best years were ahead of her.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Beautiful, Talented & sweet. Jean was one of a kind. She is one of my favorite actresses right up there with Bette Davis, Joan Crawford & Olivia De Havilland.

  • Beautiful Jean Harlow and Marilyn Monroe where the blondes start to become"Hollywood Glam Girls"Melinda another blonde....lol

  • forever jean....................

  • She was inspired by Marie Antoinette's look, and Mata Hari's strength of presence.

  • Life is really a b#¤*! I can't believe this angel died at 26.

  • She was a distant blood relative of mine. She was my age when she passed away (only 26.) I guess it's a good thing I never went into showbiz. Otherwise this would be my last year.

  • The first blonde bombshell in cinema ever recorded she paved the way for new blonde bombshell artistis to come in the future!

  • Because of Jean Harlow we got Marilyn, Britney, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga Pamelan anderson the list goes on and on Jean Harlow is and always be the original blonde bombshell!!!

  • @britneysprsfan1 There is more to Madonna than being just a blonde bombshell though. Madonna has taken on other looks too and she's also a music artist, but yes Harlow was the first famous blonde bombshell.

  • I adore Jean! She died so young...

What is that song? This is nice!

  • @thebaldurian The soundtrack consists of two edited pieces of music. The titles are 'Daybreak Serenade; and 'Dancing in the Dark' both played by Bert Kaempfert and his Orchestra.

  • @thebaldurian ah okay thanks! je te remercie ^^

  • 100 in March baby girl. Maybe one day we can all blow away in a gust of wind and be together forever. Always. Oh yeah, Norma Jean says hi. Well, I supposed you knew that.

  • She was so beautiful!

  • this was when there was no photoshop:) and hi do you like mae west. i thought she was the original platinum blonde

  • i would met her

  • THAT LISA FREEMONT ( NOT HER REAL NAME ) IS ALWAYS TRYING TO LOOK LIKE MOVIE STAR ( SHE NEVER COMES CLOSE!) I WISH SHE WOULD STOP INSULTING THE CLASSIC GREATS OF THE SCREEN!!!!!

  • @dannys2222 LOL! That's the way to behave when someone blocks you for being vulgar, alright. Bash them in unrelated videos. ;-)

  • @LisaFreemontStreet OH SHUT UP U UGLY WOMEN!!! U DONT LOOK LIKE JEAN HARLOW!!!! SHE HAD GREAT CLASS AND U HAVE NONE AT ALL!!!!!

  • I always liked her and thought she was pretty cool -- not Grace Kelly cool -- just a really tough sort of blonde.

  • God, she was STUNNING!

  • Ok here is my favorite actress next to Lombard! She was so beautiful & her films were wonderful, I watched Saratoga & cried, knowing she was dying right before our eyes...so sad! What agal she was!

But this a terric tribute to one of my favorite gals!!

  • Love the picture of her with red hair, She was indeed the original platinum blond but what a great red head.

It's my understanding that she & her mother were very close. She always had money so she could have distanced herself from her mom long before Hollywood if it was an unhappy relationship. Her mother does seem to have been overbearing but it seems to me that was just the classic overprotective mother plus Hollywood hype.

The music & pictures are beautiful thanks for creating it.

  • Not true. Jean died of acute nephritis which is kidney disease. In the days before dialysis and transplants it was fatal. It is one of the myths that surrounds her that her mother denied her medical care. In fact she received around the clock attention but to no avail.

  • Died too young because her mom didn't believe in docters...

  • i have to dress up as her at school

  • Could anyone tell me the title of this beautiful music?

    Thank you.

  • What a good actress, and a beautiful women.

The gowns that she wears in this slide show

    are just stunning!

  • TOTALLY! She is my absolute favorite. Just embodies ADOREABLE. Such a sweetheart, doesn't expect anything from anybody, is very giving, gets along with everybody, so humane, totally kind and empathetic to every other soul man or woman, doesn't try to upstage anybody, or play games, very real, and yes totally drop dead gorgeous, and every word in between, pretty, beautiful, cute, breathtaking, sexy, smart, playful, natural, etc. LOVE LOVE LOVE her. An angel in heaven FOR SURE!

  • When you look at Jean, you see the 30s, and I can't think of anyone who casts that 30s look as did Jean. She was one of a kind, a very, very sweet person who had no qualms about inviting fans to her home for a bite to eat. But, a very unhappy soul, despite all the glamour. Too bad her mother was such an overbearing witch. For me, Jean Harlow will always be #1.

  • Love .. There is a song called [vogue¨of madonna .. she sing her name

  • I hope you dont mind...I posted my Jean Harlow styling tutorial as a vid response. Her look was very unique and I thought some ladies might want to know how to recreate it.

  • You are most welcome and I have accepted your video response.

  • @LisaFreemontStreet How do we get to that video,Lisa?

  • @Satinsong I posted it as a vid response but they may not have approved it. It is in my Starlet Series. :)

  • She had serious sparks on the screen, funny and sexy with soft curves gently boucing all over the place. Her movies are so entertaining. She was a true comedienne with so much natural beauty and that raw sexuality with a bit of edginess. She had it in spades. I loved this clip.

  • Someone would be so kind as to tell me the name, author or whatever to identify the wonderful music with this video

    Many thanks!!!

  • There are two pieces of music making up the video soundtrack. Titles are 'Daybreak Serenade' and 'Dancing in the Dark' both played by Bert Kaempfert and his Orchestra.

  • Still one of my favourrites

    D. A. N.

  • An atmosphere and a time - unlike any other - that, sadly, cannot and will not ever be equaled, again! We had a semblance of elegance in movies, music, decorum, lifestyle, and behavior. Jean died much too young in 1937. There were others like her, but those days of gentlemen and ladies have "gone with the wind"!!!! The music to match with this video is quite appropriate. It is ironic that we lived only two blocks apart (at different times, of course). I'll be seeing you, Jean. Love ya, Peter.

  • Her And Joan Crawford Have always been my FAV Hollywood Legends

  • As much as I value Marilyn Monroe as an icon, I value Jean Harlow's originality more!

This is one reason why I love JEAN HARLOW more than Marilyn Monroe, she was the FIRST BLONDE BOMBSHELL! THE ORIGINAL PLATINUM BLONDE. Marilyn even admitted that Jean was her idol and she copied a lot from her.

Jean Harlow will always be my number 1!

Cheers for Jean Harlow, America's first blonde bombshell!

  • she has amazing eyes everytime i see her in a photo or movie i'm instantly drawn to them. this video is amazing.

  • She was ultra glamorous a trend setter, but I gotta say I don't think she's as pretty as other actresses of her time; but she definitely was the most talented and glamorous.

  • Great work! i love the fade in the end!!!!

  • You're unforgettable, Jean.

  • Thank you for sharing these wonderfu pictures. Just read E.J.Fleming's new book on Paul Bern, what a bunch of surprises there - anyway, Jean Harlow so a terrific actress and I enjoy her movies so much. Never seems to be so outdated that they can't be enjoyed.

  • I could have made you look just like you, but you wouldn't let me......namaste Mary Gustafson

  • and I love her!!!

  • So stunning and a gifted comic actress. She would have really blossomed in the 1940s. What a tragic loss.

  • Great job with the color pictures. I usually prefer them black and white but this looks good.

  • marilyn monroe's idol is jean harlow

  • The original platinum Blonde! And she was a talent and had a sense of humor,

    RIP dear.

  • Jean was a baby doll. I remember watching old movies with my old Italian neighbor who was 78 and I was 17. We would sip tea and watch her collection of old movies back to back everyday. Seeing this brought back great memories and happy times for me. Thanks again. Rayevaughn

  • My Movie Legends series is a trip down memory lane and full of nostalgia. Thank you for sharing your memories.

  • What a sin, her mother let her die at the age of 26...

  • Her mother didnt let her die. She had medical care. People just thought that because of her religion. But check the facts, she did have medical care.

  • beautiful!

  • What a strong, sensitive, beautyful woman! WoW!

    What a Vamp!

  • her hair is beautiful & she looks glamourous!

  • beatiful.i love her

  • Truly Beautiful.

  • Wow! just Wow! I just recently became intrested in Harlow. Stars today seem to be so hard. No glamour. She was perfect for the time. The great depression. End of prohibition. The country needs some more like her today!

  • For more Jean Harlow, check out MOVIE LEGENDS - JEAN HARLOW (REPRISE) and MOVIE LEGENDS - JEAN HARLOW (FINALE).

  • Thats a great story HarlaJean! Jean Harlow will always be the original Goddess. It's so sad that she died at only 26 years old.

  • I remember that, Grace Goddard I think was the right name, would tell everyone that Norma Jean would be a star and she just got that on her mind everyday and it became true.

  • i was named after jean harlow, kinda, my great grandfather danced with her while in the army at a bar one night, fell in love with her, named his daughter Harla Jean, and the name was passed on down to me! (just a little modified)

  • marilyn monroe's character in 'some like it hot' was inspried by jean harlow. and thats why marilyn wanted her name to be 'jean monroe' =)

and thats the reason why 'monroe's' famous mole wasnt on her cheeck , it was near her mouth...just like jean harlow!

I love Jean Harlow and her movies, she's the american first blonde bombshell!!:)

  • @chelxeaty I totally agree. I grew up watching her movies with my aunt in new York on the WNEW 5 movies. hey, whats the actress who played her in the Jean Harlow movie. I think it was made in the 1950's but I'm not sure. Do you know the name of the movie or actors? I know it was in color so it had to be in the later years.her agent starred with John Wayne in his movie called Wild Africa or something. He was short and red headed. reminded you of Micky Rooney. I'd appreciate any help. take care

  • I have the same birthday as her I'm also a huge fan! Jean was so talented and beautiful and funny!

  • great video

  • hot

  • shes sooo classic. I just bought Hell's Angels...I love Public Enemy too.

  • love love

  • The very first sex symbol. Long live Jean Harlow

  • she died at 26 years

  • she was a mariyln monroes idol

  • beautiful the photographers of that time were unmatched in their talents....the shadows, flowing hair, long eyelashes...all very very glamourous. Not like the corpse-like photos of today.

  • i agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • Well Done!

  • arile

    Love this one too!

    D.A.N.

  • Harlow was totally controlled by her mother. As she was about to marry the handsome, dashing William Powell, she became very ill with an undisclosed blood infection, which shut down her kidneys leading to uremic poisoning. Her mother, a Christian Scientist, refused to allow Clark Gable and Powell in her room and ceased ALL medical treatment. Poor Jean!!! A doll who never lived to have her own family. May she rest in peace.

  • She was the first platinum blonde of the movies history. She whitened her hair and looked sexy in a time that only the prostitutes did those things. After her, all women in the world wants to colour hair to be similar to Harlow's appearence!!! Even Marilyn Monroe never denied Harlow's influence on her style. A great and true legend!!

  • yeah did you know Howard Hughs (who she had a 5 year contract too) started a competion for hairdressers all over America to see if they could match Harlow's hair colour and if you did you got 10,000!

  • When is Warner Bros. going to release a Jean Harlow DVD boxset? I'm ITCHING to buy it!

  • it actually proablly would be released from MGM as that is were she stared in all her really famous films

  • Harlow is my favorite old time Hollywood movie star. A true legend.

  • and in my opinion much better than carole lombard, and certainly more attractive. and both killed so tragically young

  • Jean Harlow died from a kidney failure, on her time there is no way to transplant an organ, so she died slowly with no chance to surtvive. She had only 27 years!!!

  • 26 years old, not 27

  • From what I read in her biography her kidneys were injured by a beating at the hands of Paul Bern, her then husband who later commited suicide. Her mother wouldn't let any doctors to see her,due to some crazy religious beliefs, until it was too late.

  • Yes..the truth about Harlow's mother is unsure...some said that she belonged to a cientology religion, and she didn't believe in medicine. But, others said that is not true, Harlow had acess to all modern medicine available at time!!! But the fact is..............she died!!! Very young and very beautiful....good for her legacy....but not for herself!!

  • Wrong! She contracted nephritis at summer campn and from that point on, her kidneys began to fail.

  • You need to (that is if you are interested) read the truthful books on Jean Harlow. That book was followed by a two issue rebuttal in Photoplay magazine. Freinds and family were able to refute the lies in that book.

  • jean harlow was the original glamour girl comedienne, and she was so funny and so hot

  • Jean Harlow was the best sex symbol of the early 30's. She was a natural beauty. By the mid 30's she wanted to change her image and decided to let hair go natural. She also toned down the sexiness because of the strict movie codes back then. The world lost a huge talent when she unexpectly passed away at the young age of 26! Jean's memory still lives on!

  • Jean Harlow's grand-daughter lives on in Seattle. You can visit her, all you need to do is visit Broadway in Seattle, look for Marilyn Monroe in a doorway, and bring a good soul.

    peace

  • Jean Harlow didn't have any children so how can she have a grandaughter?

  • she did have one daughter, but the press kept it quiet and she gave to an extra on the lot to take care of

  • WTF? where did u read that?

  • Harlow never had children. It's an unsubstantiated rumor.

  • Uh, NO SHE DIDN'T. She never had children. She aborted some pregnancies, but never had a child. There were a lot of crazy rumors about Jean Harlow, and her having an illegitimate child is one of them. I heard someone else say she had a son. Perhaps people are mixing her up with Marilyn Monroe, who told a few people she had a baby as a teenager that was given up for adoption. That wasn't true either.

  • thank you basilnelson..nicely done in her honor, your music selection fits it so well.. keep up the good works in every remembrance of these past talents..

  • She Died to Young. But what a Legacy she has left. After all of these years we are still watching her. I Love old Hollywood to, there is something about it that prevails.

  • Jean Harlow is a Babe. They don't make silverscreen Goddess like that anymore. I like the music what is it.

  • Absolutely FABULOUS!!! Could you please tell me the source of the music you used? Many Thanks for posting!

  • tahnks, i look forward to seeing more movie clips of my aunt. It's great that people are taking intrests in this kind of stuff. I'll keep watchin' and u guys keep postin' comments.

  • She is not your aunt or great aunt, Jean Harlow had no siblings!

  • Lovely actress and great clip. Now, if only Warner would hurry up and release a nice Harlow DVD set...

  • thanks, my dad Darin Carpenter told me that i was related to a lady named Jean Harlow (Harlean Carpenter). So I did some reaserch on her and I found this movie clip of her and its in my favorites. I wish i could've met her, i bet she would have been awsome. Well thanks for the replies(Matthew Carpenter is my name).

  • Lucky you to be related, even if it is a distant connection - who cares?

  • the original, a more authentic natural look than Marilyn

she radiates more beauty than sexiness, very nice

  • i am related to jean harlow she is my great x3 aunt

  • I give you a standing ovation VERY CLASSY & SPHISTICATED. I LOVE OLD HollyWood

  • Very nice! I love Jean!

  • Gorgeous! Beautiful! Tragic! She died so young at 26 yrs. old! She was so sweet and funny and sexy! I love her platinum blonde hair!

  • just beautiful

  • Great star,beautiful clip!

    Thank you.
