  • Thank You!

  • High interested about. I only read finnish, swedish, english and some deutsch. Please translate to english, att least parts of video.

  • @IhanNormal

Shot down during Operation Bodenplatte (1-1-45) by Polish Spitfires. Pilot Paul Drutschmann, 9 JG54 bailed out and was captured. Drutschmann passed away in 2000, and the man in the denim jacket is his grandson. The wreck has been recovered for preservation and some parts are being used for a very long-term restoration of an airworthy D-9 using a FlugWerk replica airframe.

  • this 'excavation technique' is an insult to all archaeologists!

  • @mrplease66

This is a recovery, not exactly an archaeological dig (though archaeological digs are sometimes conducted for aircraft.) The circumstances of this crash are known and there were no fatalities and no human remains to consider. Digs like this are still treacherous with ammo an even volatile fuel sometimes remaining--not to mention the risk of soil collapse from the depth. Also, sometimes property owners only allow a few days for digging.

Framdarbeiter erschossen. Einfach so. Mit Augenzeugen konnte ich noch sprechen.

  • Awesome video, are the remains of a warrior from the past who came to the fore again, congratulations to all pilots who fought bravely lutfwaffe and gave their lives for their nation.

  • Zeer fraaie reportage!

  • Only the A Team members could reassemble that plane- and only if they were in a very tight spot and needed the plane to escape in. Except that BA, of course, refuses to fly- so I suppose Murdock would have to fly it- on his own- and he's mad- which could be a problem.

  • Die Bergung schaut nicht professionell aus!!

  • Very interesting. How about posting again, using English subtitles?

  • @Strawberry7Lynn pleaseeeeeeee id lov e to see what they are saying !!!!

  • @dutyhole1734

The story of Paul Drutschmann's Fw190D-9 is on the BAHAAT website. He was part of the the Operation Bodenplatte on 1-1-45 from 9./JG54 and was shot down by Polish pilots from 131 Wing flying Spitfires. Drutschmann bailed out and the plane crashed into a marshy area and he surrendered to Private Jozef De Munck. Drutschmann passed away in 2000 and the plane was recovered to be rebuilt (very slow project.) Drutschmann's grandson is in the denim jacket and looks just like him.

  • @FiveCentsPlease thanx for the info the plane was an incredble one !!!

  • nice documentary & restoration work-the Vlamand subtitles especially make it universally understandable..mes compliments.

  • Look the dude with the metal detector is in a flying suit is he hoping he can hope in and fly the thing ! yes I'm liking this very much maybe we should stop for a spliff and some sex!.

  • @DeBalaguer Hello, the Germans are in such a way modest because they were educated after 2 world wars without pride.

Artificial by the winners and permits from the defeated people.

Look your country, I have lived some Years in England, it was great, you celebrate your flag, Trafalgar, Nelson, the D-Day etc.

If you in Germany say you are to be proudly a German, you are immediately a Nazi.

I show my German flag with pleasure and am guaranteed no Nazi, but gladly in such clarify land to live

  • fantastic thanks!

  • te gek man, te gek!

  • a fantastic job .. ... to restore a Dora ... thx

  • Yes, OHC for the Merlin.

Somewhere I read there was an F-head version.

Can't recall where I read this.

First Merlin was a ramp- head with 45 deg. valve angle.

    Hmmn...sounds simple enough.

  • Ok, I understand, but the Merlin was an F-Head, and the Mercedes Jumos were OHC's ?

I still can't picture how this design could make a smoother running engine.

I must search for a working animation of the engine.

  • @seapeddler

In essence, each opposing cylinder in the vee is in alignment and this reduces vibrations and loads on the crankshaft. It also shortens the overall length of the engine adding a weight-savings advantage.

  • @seapeddler Every Merlin I have seen had overhead cams and 4 valves per cylinder. By definition F head means the intake valve is in the cylinder head and the exhaust valve in th block like a flat head. Some models of Jeeps and some of the older Rolls/Royce auto's used F head engines.

  • How do you explain 3 connecting rods per crank journal?

  • @seapeddler

Read about fork-and-blade connecting rod design and the benefits of cylinder placement that reduces crankshaft loads and creates a smooth-running engine. It was used on the Merlin engine as well.

  • powered by BMW!!!

  • junkers!!

  • beautyful work !!!!

    congatulations !!!

    very very good !!!

    very very good FW190 !!

  • @flex2000watt ja is klar ne!

  • Great vid, great pics, shit music.

  • I guess you might say the 190 was turned into a Belgian Waffle

  • So fucking cool...........im fascinated by ww2 ! 14/88

  • Yeah me too.....15/27!

  • why is it down so deep...was it a dive bomb crash??

  • The aircraft crashed into marshy, soft land after the pilot bailed out. It's not uncommon for the wreckage to be buried several meters deep for high-speed or steep impacts.

  • mooie vondst.

  • Great video. I don't speak the Belgian language on this video. Could someone do english subtitles. Fasciniating as the comments posted give me the historical information. That is something a Jumo engine used. Must have been a good sized plane as they tried to use those in some ME109's in Israel after the war with some bad side effects. Thanks all.

  • there is no belgian language! it's Dutch or French :)

  • Yes, it was a heavy engine. If you look up the Flug-Werk site they've built a FW190D-9 replica using a Merlin engine iirc. To get the CG right, they had to build a 800 kg overweight engine mount for it!

Kurt Tank who designed the 190, always wanted the Daimler Benz 600 series engine but was denied access because the RLM had decided it was to be produced for the 109 only. He came close to realizing his dream with the FW Ta152C but at that time it was too late for Germany.

  • das ist ja unglaublich ! toll.

  • I live in waasmunster!

ik had hier nog nooit van gehoord.

  • am I correct that the later 190s had an inverted inline liquid cooled engine and the earler had a radial?

  • Correct. The final evolution of the Fw190 was the D series "Dora", which used a Jumo 213 V12 engine more commonly found on Ju88 bombers--partly due to the DB engines being used for other fighters. This was to create a high-altitude fighter. All D-series used the Jumo engine except for the D14/D15 which used the DB603 engine (though not many D14/D15 were produced.) The Fw190C prototype also used the DB603 engine and was a testbed for the new-design Ta152.

  • Is this Witte 3 restored and returned to Germany?

  • Incredible amount of money there, but very neat.

  • There is a restoration that will be taking to the air, of a FW190, in Cincinnati Ohio this spring.

  • Wow auggie that is exciting news. I live in Cincinnati and would love to see that take place. Is there a website of some sort that has news on this.

  • Where and when will this be happening?

I'm sure it is too late. If so, will you be so kind to tell me when it did happen?

  • Cincinatti Ohio is all I know. "Google Cinci FW190"

  • I liked the music.

  • thanks xD

  • Hi Powerheli,

  • whats the name of the song?? it's nice

  • The name of the song is White Sky-Impressions. Written and performed by Syanna.

  • if i had the money i'd do something like that too. Im sure russia is littered with focke wulfs and messerschmitts, its just finding them is the hard part and finding out if their even in good condition.

  • Well that is nice to know!! Cannot see many bits being much good though, might be some good engine internals i suppose!!

  • This sort of thing is grave robbing...

  • well, the FW 190 Dora and others tried to catch the Allied pilots on the ground on New Years day 1945 Operation Bodenplaats, inc these Polish Spitfires, this 190D got shot down pilot parachuted to safety and was made a POW

and plane dug up bits being used in a new build 190 so no grave robbing

  • @wulfiewulff

    wasnt the jumo engine diesel?

I have looked up FW 190 and non look like this plane, were there a few types?

  • @tpvalley THere were many types!

  • @tpvalley

No, the Jumo V12 was not a diesel. This is the D-9 series Fw190. All D series planes from the D-9 to the D-15 had the radial engine replaced with an inverted Jumo 213 V12, with a few having the DB 603 V12. Few D13, D14, and D15 were produced and only one D13 survives today, along with 2 original D-9s.

  • @tpvalley

    There are over 20

  • presevation.......nothing more.

  • somebody please translate this video in English. I really want to understand it.

  • itl be good to see that in the air when its finished if they fly it that is i recon they should it was desinged to fly so it should fly!

Was ist hier bitte besser??

  • very very good video ! enjoyed every minute...thanks :)

  • im not the biggest WWII aviation historian, but i am good with its history. when i say not the biggest aviation historian, i mean differnt variants of planes. i know the names, just not different modles and such. i will agree, germans had some kick ass tech, but they lost because hitler was foolish and invaded russia.

  • Why can nobody understand that the russians would have invaded Germany and the rest of europe anyway. What do you all think the cold war was about?? The entire british and american military had to spend 50 years stopping the russian invasion of europe AFTER the demise of hitler, so you can hardly blame him!! I suppose the "cuban missile thing" north Korea, and vietnam were all hitlers fault too?? The only thing that stopped the russians was that they ran out of money thanks to ronnie reagan.

  • it would be very nice with enghlish subtitles.

  • im an american with german ancestery germans made the best planes in ww2

  • nop u cant beat the b17 or the p51

  • the p51 mustang was the best plane in ww2

  • When did a Focke Wulfe come with an inline engine?

  • The final model was the Fw190-D aka 'Dora' Inline engine (did about 440mph max). Then developed from this was the Ta-152 for high altitude - an awesome plane (but they made about 100 and few saw action at all)

  • Thanks, very cool. I like WW2 history so I will have to look that up.

  • Not a bad plane, concidering the designer was called 'Tank'... :)

  • ass hole!!!! This was a better plane that anything american plane....but it was a so few...

  • The Germans had some amazing technology.. most of which was later used by the US, the Russians and the Swedes.. to name a few! Many German designs later flew in other guises, just slightly re-designed.. Just don't call people assholes for no reason, where is your sense of humour?? :)

  • too right america won because they had great numbers behind them!

  • the new focke wulf 190 type D had those they where late 44 (correct me if i am wrong imnot sure)

  • You are correct, late 1944.

  • heel mooi!

  • Looks like a big chrysler HEMI engine to me

  • I suspect this is not an FW-190, which had a RADIAL engine, when clearly in the video an inline engine is recovered. (Unlesss it was some prototype, unlikely).

  • This is a FW-190 D ... the earlier A models had the BMW radial. The D variant had the Junkers-Jumo inline inverted V12.

  • spot on definitely a 190-D. I think it was D9

Damn good condition for being buried for so long.

I thought that the TA152 was another version with different tail (larger area) and more powerful engine.

  • you know nothing at all.. it is the Dora version of the FW190 .. longnose!

FW-190 D, also called after its designer Kurt Tank Ta-152.

  • Ta152 is completely different from Fw190D.Longer fuselage, larger wing span, jumo engine with two boost systems....

  • Did those motors use castor oil?

  • You're thinking of WWI planes. Rotary engines used castor oil. WWII planes used regular lubricants even though they still burned oil.

  • id love that job digging up the past. you have something valuable in your hands that hasnt seen the light of day for years. youre the first one there to unravel it.

Your adding to the knowledge of history.

  • where was the recovery located

  • Waasmunster

  • Check out the developements at Flugwerk Germany! They've got a newly built FW190D9 doing a enginetest program as we speak! Presumably the Dora will be sold in an airworthy condition to a well known collector somewhere ai Kissemee in the US Florida.

  • Bet it's Kermit Weeks.

  • Nope, the Allison-engined Dora is owned by Tom Blair. Currently it is disassembled and getting a complete inspection of all systems before any flight testing begins.

  • Allison? Now that I think about it that makes sense. I wish I could see her fly.

  • well done im delighted that they restored it

  • they didn't restore it, the original is in the broken wings museum, they're building a replica of this FW190D using as much "white 3" parts as possible on it ;)

  • Too bad they couldnt give us English text. Im norwegian and dont understand Belgian..... Too bad!

  • good thing it was under ground if it was in water it wold of rot

  • Wow..., nicely done!

  • heel coooool

    super duper

  • Great!

  • Zeer mooi
