Bummer it doesnt show a Clock with Time and MPH at the end of Strip but hey.. NOTHING better than an Ocean view to simmer your nerves when pushing for that elusiv 10. Good work guys, be nice to see the engine set-up and maybe dyno figures in future.

For some reason, watching and listening to this GTIR fly down the strip made me really miss mine. It's about five years since I sold it. They are fantastic cars, even if mine proved a tad unreliable.

@nirtime yes the 200 sx has an sr20det too but the sr20det in the gtir is slightly different with a smaller block and quad throttle bodies

@puls4r1 oh cool , i taught the 200sx had det as i only saw one boost guage. But the gtir will be lighter so i guess it will be faster.

@nirtime tbh there is not much differance in the 2 engines, i was considering a 200sx before i bought the R, the engine can be tuned to higher bhp in the sx due to the conventional engine layout compared to the transverse layout of the gtir which tends to put a lot of strain(shock) on transmission,both great cars though woulld own both if i could but the pulsar costs enough as it is!

guys i am from Greece and i think we have the most powerful sunny gtir in the world from yesterday....we had a drag race yesterday and the best time of the car was 9.9 with street tyres avon zz3 and 245 klm exit speed!!!! its a nissan sunny gtir 4wd sedan with 855whp and its a street car with full weight and powered by gtr racing tuning in Greece!!!!

with other tyres the car it easily can make low 9 sec.......click on me to see some vids of the car!!!!

pulsar looks light weight, but why does it need the same hp as a skyline to reach the same 1/4 mile time as the skyline?

Threes not that much of a wight difference between a standard Pulsar GTI-R and a standard skyline GTR........... GTR = 1560 KG GTI-R = 1220 KG

Pulsars are over 200kg lighter than a Skyline. Atleast 450hp is required to get a pulsar into the 10sec bracket and closer to 500hp+ for a Skyline due to the weight difference. This is from what i've seen anyhow. Obviously there are other factors that make a difference too and is not just about outright hp.

gotta be running nearly 600bhp for a 10 second pulsar 45/500 bhp pulsar would do 1/4 in mid to high 11s, cant see any times posted so it might not even be a 10 second car? last run looked pretty quick though

dont think it would matter as it would have been stripped out to reduce weight and all drivetrain would have been changed too! anyway, if you own an rb you would know the close ratio gearbox would mean he would have to change out of first gear a lot sooner than he did and due to the gearing could not exceed about 115mph so i dont think it is or yours is for that matter. lol

If you check the gear ratios for the RB and standard, you'll see that the RB 1st is actually longer than the standard 1st. The box tops out at about 125mph depending on tyres and at 7500rpm. With an 8500rpm limit you'd have about 140mph to play with which is good enough for well into the 10s 1/4 area.

Mine is definately an RB. The chassis number, windup windows, manual mirrors and shit interior confirm it.

450bhp in the UK is hitting low 11s, 600 should be well into the 10s.

And depending on the turbo etc max bhp is normally at 6500rpm.

Aint you looked at a dyno printout before? you will realise it tails off towards the end of the graph, besides why would you want to up the limit to 8500rpm miss a shift at that rpm and you will be breaking cam rockers fact is the rb is SLOWER on 1/4 mile even with the weight reduction, might as well tune an ra model instead and get phantom grip lsd kit lol

If the RB is 1/2 sec slower, why is my RB the fastest Gtir I know of the same power? It did a 12.7 with 246bhp, I haven't seen an RA do that.

I have a dyno print out for my car and it doesn't feel any slower above 6500rpm despite the torque falling like a stone.

If you up the rev limit, you don't normally keep the stock valvetrain, so breakages shouldn't be a problem.

I already have a proper LSD, so don't need the phantom grip.

hey man quick question, how to prevent the front wheels from spinning first on a gtir ? is that problem fixed on the RB version as i know they have front and rear lsd ?

Front lsd was an option, mine came with an open front diff, but I have since fitted a modena lsd.

With standard power and standard suspension I couldn't get the front wheels to spin in the dry. With Tein superstreets and more power I did get abit of front wheel spin. Last time out with the modena and even more power I was getting alot of wheel hop I think. I think one of my front shox might be knackered. I'll fit new front shox and see if it cures it. 7000rpm launches spin all 4 tho.

I know that for fwd Honda's, there are traction bars available... like those from ETD or Full Race.

You could always replace stock motor mounts with poly urethane ones, or all aluminium if you're hardcore, etc... I guess they're available for Sunny/Pulsar as well?

That should solve any wheel hop you've got left :)

Yes. A cold air intake makes a good difference! Every 30 degrees C of intake charge temp drop will give about a 10hp gain. If the cold air intake draws in air at an ambient temp of 20 deg c instead of about 60 degrees there would be a gain of about 13hp. Colder air is more dense than hot air so therefore it has the potential to make more hp.
