I dont know why it bothers me that he used the picture of the album DecemberUnderground when this song is not even on that album. They actually didnt even sound like this on that album
@capsfanintahoe Well maybe im not from that country but ok sorry i didnt know but that song was created way before this album came out, i know cuz i heard it in the radio dats why i didnt know. N it bothers me cuz they sound nothing like this on that album. They changed their style completely
AFI is like Emin3m been trough shit , but never gave up and now 20 years in, still give me chills when I get nostalgic feeling. Like the best , and REAL old skool.
mainstream really? i mean think about it... i never hear this on the radio. ever. so fuck everyone who hates. afi is and has been my favorite band forever
Just because you may b gay, does not mean you can point them ALL out. I have a friend at school that is gay, who has NEVER dated a girl, and NO ONE suspects he's gay! Not even the guys that are gay. And yes, he does were makeup, witch can come off a little weird, but that does not assure you he is gay! What PROOF do you have that he is gay??
think about it. if afi didnt change their music, every song they have would sound the same. and if that where the case afi would be kind of like a lot of other bands. but they have gotten creativity and travled out of one genera. i really like that about them. and also how no matter what they make, it sounds freaking amazing. so dont complain about their changing music and outlooks. enjoy it
@TheSeventhSon well i dont (obviously cuz it would make me a hypocrite) but there is a thing called freedom of speech and i'll voice my opinion where i want. didnt disrespect nor ostracize anybody. pretty simple......
For the "selling out" debate I want to share a quote by Henry Rollins "Selling out isn't winning money by becoming mainstream,it's doing an album you don't want to do because of money and your label." I'm not sure AFI has ever made an album which doesn't sound like something they wanted to (it explains the diference between all of their albums since Black Sails).
For MTV,I know it's sad but let's not forget what Davey said : he's heard Rock Music for the first time with MTV so it maybe a reason
@CMnams By far the best explanation for AFI's changing sound... You and Rollins are right, AFI didn't sacrifice their originality to become rich, they just started making albums that the mainstream was attracted to. The mainstream came to them, they didn't go to the mainstream. Nice comment, wise words!
@CMnams No, "sell-out" means the little pricks who liked Green Day's Kerplunk! (as an example) felt alienated when their favourite band made Dookie and became good. The same goes for the little pricks who thought Dookie was the best thing ever, and then ten years later Green Day released American Idiot and the same thing happened.
they went from hardcore punk , to darker hardcore punk, to horror punk, to alternative influenced post hardcore, to pop punk, to alternative rock. so what if they're changing, can't say it's still not listenable.
@ZeldaWolf55 whats youre infatuation with justin beiber?wtf is every bodys deal with that kid i know he sucks but do you really have to mention his name on every rock song, metal, punk rock song?are you getting paid to promote his name?you must be an under cover fan disguised as a afi fan i bet your one of the 7 who dislikes this tell the truth lil sister
@GreyShadowUchiha i agree entirely, decemberunderground was nothing like their regular music and it was still awesome, but crash love was a failure in every way possible
I honestly don't know but there are songs I want on the Japanese version of Crash Love too so its just all the other countries who get the good B-sides
afi is not gay. they may sound more main stream but only because that is where their musical senses have taken them. sure they change a bit (or a lot) with every cd they release but what they don't change is their need to create music for them selves not for the man. afi is one of the few true musical artists left that creates music for the purpose of creation and communication. and that's why they're amazing
There are shitloads of artists that create awesome uncompromising music. AFI decided to become mainstream - it wasn't because of their "musical tastes".
@peudoiseaurouge Sounds beautiful, but it's not true... I just saw a interview of the Punk Afi, saying mtv is shit (because it is), and 4 years after that, they made a fucking concert on mtv... Money ruins almost every good band... It's sad, but we can't deny it...
@peudoiseaurouge wtf is wrong with you. ITS MORE THAN OBVIOUS DAVEY IS GAY. how do i know? i am gay myself, and we can tell other gays. so why are people (Aka chicks) saying he isnt when he is? because they want to keep the dream alive of one day meeting him and having sex with him? get over it. hes gay, and it shouldnt be an issue. sexual preference shouldnt matter in music
@jelmdemoterhelm he isn't gay.. he is with britnay bowen (spelling?) she is an indie model she is on half of the making of videos, she is asian.. u can see tonsof pictures of them together..
@fresh098 i'm very aware of that. But gay men marry all the time because they dont dare to come out. there is NO doubt that this man is gay. i am gay myself and i can point them out from miles away.
@jelmdemoterhelm thats not true, I have a gay uncle (who got married just a few days ago) he dosen't think that, because you can never truly know a man (or in any person in the since of the word 'man').
@mrbelmont2000 Actually, he's said it before, that song is from numerous points of view. At one point he says "he bit my lip and drank my war from years before" which is talking about a guy. "She entails vanilla lace. I barely dreamt her yesterday" is about a girl. "She said 'it seems you're somewhere far away' to his face" is all in third person. So if you look at it like that, Davey isn't a character in the song. He's a voice that is used to express the characters in the song and he's also a
@mrbelmont2000 narrator who is describing the setting in the song. Granted, he could be using that to describe feelings he's had in his own life, but that suggests that he's had those feelings for women too. I'm just trying to make it clear that his sexuality isn't necessarily defined by this music and that it doesn't even really matter.
Ahhhh...I want to put this song on my ipod SOOOOOO bad ,,,PIZZZ somebody tell me where I can find it cuz I looked everywhere and I can't find an ipod download...:( I'm getting desperate people--desperation, desolation, all I've truly known until I find this song!!
Going to see them live? i saw them in october here in buffalo, and it was so amazing, its like, i practically worship them, and have since i was like 9, and to see them in person for the first time was overwhelming, It annoyed me when people tried to start mosh pits, dont mosh to afi, theyre too good, mosh to metal, machine head, megadeth, morbid angel and the like.
Umm...AFI evolved from hardcore punk roots. You do realize moshing used to be a GIVEN at their shows, right? Their pits back in the day were pretty brutal. That Gallows band that probably opened for them that show? That's pretty much what AFI used to be. Listen to Black Sails or AOD. See?
first of all dont tell me what afi to listen to, ive been listening to them since i was 9, which is pretty much since they started, i OWN the days of the phoenix ep, and i payed a lot of money for it so dont fucking talk down on me. I know, because i listened to them in those days, what i was saying is that theyre not like that anymore, They're above it, and theyve evolved beyond that point. and gallows isnt really like what they used to be, theyre more metallic, if that makes sense.
Ha so true! back when it was a lot more straight edge based. I remember when I was scared to get in the pit cause people would bring raiser blades in with out getting caught. those were the days :-)
@Deathless1One You tell people not to tell you what to listen to then you tell them not to do what they want? Hypocrisy If I ever saw it :P anyway I see your stand point ive been listening to them for years myself and They have changed to a more mainstream sound thats not to say thats a bad thing but its not them anymore this is still my fav song by them however and wasent this on an earlier album? or something I remember hearing it before DU
yes im aware. it was recorded during the sing the sorrow sessions and released in october of 2004 after a lot of begging. i can still remember being out with friends and my afi buddy calling me to tell me they had released it. never said it was from du either.
haha, i feel like im being challenged. anyone else?
O.O seriously? lol. well your question has been answered, but to AFI fans, it seems to be a out of place queston...lol. at least now you know. Fun fact: as I was looking at the old punk AFI albums ie; Shut your mouth and open your eyes and Very proud of ya AFI stood for Asking for it. It confused me since i've only knew them as A fire inside. lol. now isnt that something interesting? lol.
If you look at the punk rock albums, it does in fact say it. I'm not kidding, my brothers even have said it, and they aren't kidding either. They have known AFI since they started pretty much in '91. So either I am crazy and am hallucinating, or I'm right. where are you getting your sources? *unsure*
Search- "Malfunction TV Show": Davey Havok Interview at :31 seconds, Davey says it. I actually learned it from another interview he did that gave a bit more explanation, but I can't find it.
Yea I went to the UK for 3 weeks, and while i was there i got this and Sing the Sorrow because the UK version setlist is better, >.> i have the CDs at home, it pisses me off that the UK version has more songs

As this is one of my favourite tracks by the band, could someone answer why this was not featured on any album?
MartinHagenDJ 2 years ago
well synasthesia was another amazing song, but to me it seems their B-Sides are always really good, but then again everything AFI does is perfect...

It confused me since i've only knew them as A fire inside. lol. now isnt that something interesting? lol.

They never stood for Asking for it, that was actually what people put on their mail when asking for merchandise/info.

True. AFI stand for A Fire Inside.

Yea I went to the UK for 3 weeks, and while i was there i got this and Sing the Sorrow because the UK version setlist is better, >.> i have the CDs at home, it pisses me off that the UK version has more songs

I totally pre-ordered Crash Love, the deluxe version has like 4 extra songs from December Underground and STS that were never released :D
