@tralagal ha ha Most of our dinner conversations now are about what happened at daycare, especially who played with who, who got left out, who ended up laughing or crying, who fought over what toy... Nina's social world has taken on more and more importance. I do sometimes miss the more random conversations we used to have when she was this age, though.

@zoodensha Thanks for understanding. A part of me misses making videos of Nina to share with everyone, but it also feels like the right decision. Lately, I have noticed a definite change in Nina where her friends are becoming a bigger and bigger part of her life, and she has secrets now. It makes me feel a bit nostalgic for her toddler days, but I also realize it is just part of a natural progression.

What is the ending in "mon" that Nina often uses in her sentences, even in other videos? I've heard it only a few times before, and i'm not sure what it means.

@StormWolf01 It's funny because Nina does use it a lot, but I never really thought about what it means. Perhaps it is mono (thing) said in short form? Like "Oishii mon" could be short for "Oishi mono da" (It's a good thing.) I'm not sure. Maybe someone else knows better?

@geofg The Japanese postfix word "desu(da)-mono(mon)" is just like the usual "datte ... da-kara" expression on telling reasons, but it's a bit more emphatic, definite sounding phrase, I guess.

Sentences like "datte ... (da)mono" should usually be like "because ... (of course / you know / so I can't help it)"

It's a very common and typical wording you know so it's quite possible that Nina-chan is using the sentence pattern without really knowing the meaning (just like the "you know" here!)

I think you're doing a great service to your daughter teaching her English. Being bilingual is a wonderful skill for many reasons. Native English speakers are actually really lucky because it's a language that can be a real nightmare to learn!

Children pick it languages so fast though, their brains are like sponges, especially with languages. It's great that you're taking advantage of that fact. :)

Since then, my parents (they're Indonesians) didn't speak english anymore to me as english isn't widely spoken in Indonesia. So yeah, I had to learn english from scratch.

Thank God, my Dad was willing to have sleepless nights and helped me doing assignment via YM/Skype. Hehe *smirk*
