Ukraine still uses 1500+ T64b as the main armor, most of them are still in their orginal juice, not modernised with modern stuff. Not all of them have ERA, but ukraine also have nice upgraded T64BM and T64BU, in small qty only. They also have a number of T80UD, and T84 (less than 50), plus some old T72A/B and T55 in reserve

the auto loader tended to eat the gunner as it could not tell tell difference betwine a shell and a arm!

we used to laugh at it!

we got hold on one and we where shocked by the crap design of it!

Now, look at its ammo : APFSDS : 1972 "3BM17" 290mm at 2km. 1976 "3BM22" 380mm at 2km.

Mostly T72 and a few T62 tanks here. Also enuff live reactive armour still on them to blow the whole scrapyard to hell!!!! It outlines the differences between the T-62s that the russian army used and the T-62s the Arabs were using, including their ammunition. Israeli M60s were all drawn directly from US Army frontline stocks with all the latest equpiment.

@elbolit You're so right. The US M-60 series was a serious failure. This is why the US spent so much time and money developing anti tank aircraft. We knew that our tanks couldn't face a red tide in Europe. The A-10 is the god of the tank fields...followed closely by its low and slow brothers the AH-64 and AH-1. We also developed the AGM-65 series to be used by all aircraft. The Leopard is the best on paper, but it has seen no combat and has small numbers.

@elbolit for one they were feared up until the western world got there hands on it. It was too small, the crew had to be specially selected so they could fit in the damn tank. The auto loader was dangerous and crewmen a lot of the time got there arms torn off. If your talking about it took 20 years to develop the abrams your wrong the itentered service in 1980. It destroyed t72 babylons in the first gulf war. The new russian T90s are simply improved t72s. the leopard 2 is a superb tank (quality)

Do you know why the Soviets made their tanks so small? A smaller tank makes a harder target to hit. It also makes the tank easier to hide in places like bushes or old burned out buildings making it the perfect AMBUSH vehicle. Even Germany used this approach with the STUG III. M60's and Sherman's in my opinion were too tall, making them a bigger target and therefor more of a danger to their crew.
