  • I've heard "Trial" done by a D'Oyly Carte touring company and a number of amateur troupes. G & S is at its best when done in a boffo style. I once saw a judge in "Trial" knock his podium over, and it didn't detract from the performance at all.

  • edwin is really stiff

  • horrible costumes, voices, and they're really slow

  • I did this G&S at my singing school - so much fun when you have about 40 bridesmaids.... half of whom are 6 year olds :)

  • this is WAAAAY to fast!! you loose the underlying syncopation in chorus. No wonder they couldn't sing it

  • Done it twice, and both times the Counsel was female.

Fairly decent production, and if they were having vocal problems, then I'd have loved to have heard one when everyone was in voice.

  • terrible costumes

  • Such a pity that the chorus ar singing ON the beat in the Dilemma chorus when it should be OFF thebeat, but this seems to be a general fault with amateur companies. It is very difficult to do. Why on earth is the judge in blue - I've never seen this before. To be correct he should be in red.

  • I don't know why, but I like this rendition of Trial by Jury over all others. I think others take it too fast or slow, but I think this is perfect. My school did Trial By Jury last year, and it was a great success! You guys definitely had better vocalists than we had! Great job!

  • 48 hours earlier, Angelina had no voice at all. Antibiotics got her singing again but she was not on best form when the show was recorded. The whole production seemed to be cursed by illness! The Usher was totally without a singing voice and his part was actually sung by the gentleman in evening dress on the right at the back. The Usher himself mimed.

  • Angelina's voice is cracking, goes out of tune. Pity, cos Edwin is very good.

  • ohhh, my brother Chris, u are performing in such a nice way, congratulations!!!

  • Your judge is brilliant!

    But your defendant and plaintiff....

Great, strong voices, work on stage presence...

  • Well done everyone, I was in Trial by Jury in a school production some years ago.

Chris, you were brill - love the pink tie! :)

Looking forward to this year's production.

  • This group seems to churning them out pretty fast. How about fewer productions and more attention to quality. The hero and heroine--the tenor and soprano--seem exceptionally weak in this production.

  • Wonderful. Thank you.

  • I wish I could!

  • My advice: Don't give-up the day job!

  • For cost reasons our 'Trial' was set in modern times and dress. 'Trial' can reasonably be set in any period in England up to the 1970s when 'Breach of Promise' type actions - the basis of the plot - were abolished. So a lady counsel in the 1970s would not necessarily be out of place.

  • This is also by no means the first production in which the council was played by a woman.

  • Well, our production is going to be all-female. It happens. Not all productions have to be gender-correct. I think she did a wonderful job as Counsel. :D

  • Why in HELL is a woman playing the Counsil to the Plaintiff? That just doesn't make any sense at all.
