First of all nice review keep up the good work. I think there is no handrest on sony so its not comfortable for the person who has big hands. Moreover, you need a mouse if you are not use to if it. So it is good for those who has extra money. On the otherhand, samsung is bigger and has handrest and as well as bigger mouse, so good for those who want fast typing and fast work. Its not about the brand, its about the way you want to use these thing, they have different advantages over each other.

3 hours for vista, are they CRAZY!!! You install a ssd, and install 7 with registry tweaks this thing will FLY!!! 2gb of ram standard, i dont see a asus having that. I have a P25G, Vaio P is not perfect because of two points.

Ethernet port is not on the system itself, but through a port replicator. Fail.

Need a cd/dvd burner to make recovery cd's.... Why not offer an option to use USB stick. Fail.

In the video it was a size comparison. The CPU and graphics chip capabilities are very similar. However the Sony has a much higher screen resolution, has twice as much RAM, and is much lighter and smaller than the NC10.

BTW I did have an Acer One which is very similar to the NC10 in the video, but sold it when I got the Vaio P. Battery life on the Vaio is 4 hours, Acer was 90 minutes.

Acer One didn't have DVD drive either, and getting movies on it was never a problem. NC10 has no DVD.

I think that you don't get it that Vaio P is not intended be used as primary and only computer.

DVD movies can always be ripped with another computer, and transferred over to the Vaio P via the network or USB sticks. That's what I've done with the odd DVD I've borrowed. I even re-installed Windows from a USB stick, no need for a DVD drive here.

Usual source of movies for me is Itunes rentals or recording from the cable TV movie channels. Hence no real need for optical disks for my use.

Having a CD/DVD drive in a primary computer yes that is a good idea. The Sony Vaio P is not intended to be used as a primary computer. Content and software can always been installed over a network, USB sticks, even an external drive if needed.

You can install Linux on it with Unetbootin, Jaunty Ubuntu has support for the pdb graphix driver, or failing that just use the standard VESA driver. You want speed, bang Linux on it!

Linux support for the Poulsbo GMA 500 is very hit and miss at the moment. There is a driver but it appears to get broken with every kernel update. VESA does work, but it's very slow, video is unusable with it.

The problem is that Poulsbo uses PowerVR SGX for the graphics, with a driver sourced from Tungsten Graphics. Rather than Intel doing everything in-house.

Windows support for GMA 500 has been bad as well, until the last few weeks, and even now is quite buggy.
