  • I remember always thinking how similar the opening notes to the Elec Man stage theme were to the opening notes of the theme to the "MASK" cartoon series.

  • interesting!

  • If anything, it was probably done as tribute to Journey.

  • When I was a kid I heard that journey song on the radio. I thought they wrote that song for megaman and put words too it.

  • Also sounds a lot like Bon Jovi's "She Don't Know Me".

  • what a wonderful cover song

  • M.A.S.K cartoon series intro is also the same as Megaman 1: Elecman.

    watch?v=ld2TOVWK-qI

  • sonic the hedgehog 1- scrap brain zone VS blade runner end credits song; "Vangelis"

    check it!

  • Thumbs up if you heard the Journey song and it made you think of Elecman and not vice versa.

  • It would seem that with this note progression happening in several songs, that one can't really say "OMG CAPCOM STOLEZ FROM JOURNEY!". Similar-to-identical note progressions happen in music all the time.

  • @joebove4 like rick astley's never gonna give you up and robo's theme from chrono trigger.

  • @Marioismylife I noticed both of those similarities when I was a kid! Awesome.

  • hes called rockman for a reason

  • thumbs up if vsauce took you heree

  • There's also a REM song....

  • @michiyoyoshiku Dude, shut the fuck up. The REM song didn't come out until 1988.

  • @PhillyTacoNYC

NO YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP. You show your elders respect you little shit fuck.

  • @michiyoyoshiku It's the truth, jackass.

  • @PhillyTacoNYC

If I speak it it's truth so go back to whatever cave you crawled out of and don't come out

  • Are all of you stupid! In Japan hes called Rockman, and all the themes are styled after real songs.

  • LOL I was just sining Faithfully earlier today and my husband thought I was singing the Megaman song! Same key and everything.

  • 20 years later Papa Roach came out with Between Angels and Insects which uses the same notes as Journey and the Megaman soundtrack....

  • i was dr willy

  • THANK YOU!

    I knew I wasn't crazy!

  • @Hookd0NFoniks You are very welcome :)

  • I always thought it sounded like that old Bon Jovi song "She Don't Know Me"

  • This is nothing, Look up the song Runaway (I think it was Jovi) And the stage select theme.

  • @ZDST Interesting...

  • The melody definitely is the same, and they are in the same key, but the chord progression is different. That's crazy though!

  • Earthbound plays johnny be good but megaman is not sued for THIS!!!!

  • ok then faithfully is like elecman stage that is like a song by rem?

  • The first time I heard Journey's Faithfully, I immediately thought of Elecman's theme song

  • Somehow I believe this whole getup between stealing a sequence of notes here and there is to fit the whole rock 'n roll theme of the Mega Man franchise, as it contains many references to rock music terms. Mega Man is "Rock Man" in Japan, his girlfriend being called Roll (short for "Rolanda" maybe?). Other music terms in the game include Bass and Treble.

  • @ClassicTVMan81 Roll is his sister, not his girlfriend. And it's not short for anything. Their names are "Rock" and "Roll". It's just a really, really easy music pun.

  • @ClassicTVMan81 Also known as Forte and Gospel in Japan (Bass and Treble) and Protoman is Blues. An argument could be made for Punk who I THINK was gameboy series only? Beat the bird. Rush could be after the band, and there are many Eddie's in music, but i dunno who he was named after.

  • My brain is full of fuck.

  • haha, very similar melody... they're even in the same key.

  • This makes me want to play mega man....

  • Hey, I myself don't hear much of a similarity. They don't sound completely different, but not "strikingly similar".

  • The chord progression is different. Journey: B major, G# minor, F#, E.

Megaman: B major, B/A, E major, E minor, F#. But the melody is strikingly similar.

  • Indeed.

  • really?

  • @IamtherealElecMan

Actually the song Faithfully was debuted in 1983 while the Mega Man game was released in 1987.

  • How can a song that is four years older than the game come after the game was made?

  • @IamtherealElecMan

glad you payed attention to the video Cochise.

  • strikingly similar melody even if the chords are way different. crazy...

  • i thought i was the only one that thought that.man my friend thought i was crazy when i said journey always reminded me of megaman. thx for making this video now they think i'm insane =)

  • You are very welcome! Same thing happened to me, and is the reason why I had to make this lol!

  • @Bigassplaylist

For a while, I thought I was the only one who heard the similarity, but I'm finding lots of videos about this.... :D

  • There's another song on here no one's mentioned. Type in "music mix (power drive)" here on youtube and you'll hear a song that also follows the same beat.

  • Comment removed

  • Someone should really do a remix just like this the whole way through, only with Elecman's theme and Journey faithfully together.

  • watch?v=tRkwMfJ6DR0&fmt=18

  • wow, nice found.

  • same music but megaman is not a piece of shit.

  • @deluxedookie ... Idiot.

  • @TetraIllusion

    learned it from you.

  • @deluxedookie Did you really just hate on Journey? No band since them has had half their talent. What exactly kind of music do you listen to then?

  • @deluxedookie Journey, piece of shit? HOW DARE YOU!

  • cov·ing (kōv′iŋ)

    noun

a concave molding or arch; cove

  • actually if you listen to them the megaman one is just a digitalized version of the journey song

  • my favorite music group + one of my favorite game franchises...lmao, man, they sound so. freakin. similar, omg wow!!!

  • the point is that Journey is just a small town girl living in a lonely world.

  • but they got in one little fight and their mom got scared, and said they were moving with their auntie and uncle in bel air...

  • The Elecman theme always reminded me of the opening notes from the M.A.S.K. theme song, but this is a much more solid connection that I never made before.

  • It bugged the crap out of me that I'd hear that song on the radio, and knew it had to be the Elecman BGM. When I finally sat down and compared them on the computer though...I was shocked to find just how similar they were, and that I couldn't find anything on youtube about it, so I was compelled to create this. (I'm sure it's somewhere though)

  • LMAO! I thought the same thing when I first heard Faithfully! I never discovered Journey until 1999, and when I did, they were like my favorite band in the world for a while, and when I heard Faithfully, I immediately thought of Elecman's music!

  • yeah, i see this before in another video

  • Yeah... i was listening to Journey just now and started thinking the same thing. Low and behold, I search "Journey Mega Man" in Google and I see that I'm not alone. Funny.

  • whoa! elecman music must be very popular then.

  • yep, when I heard it I noticed it also, and another song it sounds like is Kiss- Turn On The Night

  • I just got megaman anniversary collection and when i went onto the level and heard the tune i immediately thought i had heard it on some Journey song. I looked up a few journey songs and finally found faithfully, it's impossible now to play through that level without thinking of Journey now.

  • Look up REM's "All the Right Friends" the similarity is much closer.

  • Dammit, REM recorded that song in 1983, but they didn't release it anywhere until 1988, so stop comparing it to that, because there's no way. It's a coincidence. If any, it's definitely Faithfully that inspired Elecman's music. Either that, or Bon Jovi's She Don't Know Me.

  • It is most likely a coincidence. Still, if they didn't release it until later, how do we know they didn't just pay homage to the megaman song and say "Umm yeah, we wrote this in 1983" to disguise the fact? :) Seriously though, I think it's a big coincidence. I do believe the REM song sounds a lot closer to elec man's theme than the journey song though, but I can hear the similarities in the journey tune.

  • Ah, I found another similiarity to that song.

R.E.M's All the Right Friends uses the same tune too. Both REM's and Journey's has been done in 1983. Wow!

  • Holy cow. When I heard that song on my FM radio, I was thinking of the same thing! The exact notes! O,O

Now, I have that song stuck in my head again.
