I admit, I did shed a tear, or maybe a few... ;( if you remember back in the very beginning of Gears 3 when Marcus is telling Dom they are going out again and to get his gear on, and Dom is trying to express to him that he isn't going because he has to tend to his plants, I think you can get the feeling that Dom has already emotionally checked out of the war.
