I tend to disagree. They are not the best looking car by far but i think the 4 door is even more ugly. There hot hatch backs not supposed to be family cars!
@charliedcgd "ride of the valkyries" This is the most basic music knowledge my dear friend. As for the car....yeah it's a corolla so don't expect Italian smooth design, but it runs like hell and never ever breaks down. The downside is that especially the Ae90 rust like there's no tomorrow.

the fact that a whole family had learnt to drive in it before i bought it off them also DOESN'T help. the gearboxes take a pounding. but the good thing about rollas is that they're forgiving. very forgiving

these cars are very fast for the engine size. you can get the superchargers off the old mr2s and the mods you can do to this engine are endless like indivdual throttlebodies, aggressive cams, 20v heads etc.
these are quite rare nowadays though and most rust and go beyond repair, so get one in good nick and on the road if you are buying.
Whats the difference from a GTS? I just bought a 90 GTS with 112k miles on it for 1200 US dollars. I am after some performance parts, any idea where to get them? Its the twin cam 1.6 probably the same engine as the GTI.
the gts is just a gti but have a different name. and yes they have the same 1.6 16v engine. for parts its best to sign up to a website like twincam. org and they will give you some advice on where the best bits are and what to use and stuff like that.
I´m thinking about building one for the DEC (Danish endurance championshit). It will fit in the 0-1600 category pretty well, although it will be a bit underpowered as stock. Reliability is no question - it´s there, but the handling concerns me a bit. Many years since i drove one, but my old 205 GTI (1,6) was superior to it, in that way. If you can give me any advise, that would rock - thanks.
P.S. Are the seats from a supra - looks sweet and 80´s like :-)
I would definetly consider having the corolla in the endurance race. It is an absolutely great car. I would modify it, however for the endurance race upgrade the springs and shocks. The engine is very reliable and responsive but you could put the 20v head on it or ad the supercharger for extra power and speed. The handling is not amazing but ok for an endurance race but makesure the gearbox has done low milage otherwise for an endurance race could cause problems.

The four door in a wagon is one ofthe most popular cars in Japan. Here in the States only the two was sold and it was called the FX16.
Wes 4AGE engine same as the MR2 and very close to the Prism GSI

You can also upgrade the springs and shocks but makesure the gearbox is ok because they get hammered.
