  • " Just love this video!

How Small Guys Beat GIANTS in BJJ

    MicroBJJ (dot) com"

  • He has no formal training in BJJ. Even he says so himself. If anybody can provide evidence to the contrary then lets see it.

  • A great clip of Flavio Canto a few years ago but great arm bar. At the moment he's the best at mixing bjj and Judo

  • lindo yoko sumi gaeshi. e logo depois lindo jiujigatame

  • Lovely JujiGatame

  • sweeet

  • That was a mistake from the referee's part. Uke's already tapping and the ref didn't called Ippon. Even if it's not a full blown technique, I would stop that as soon as I see someone taps.

  • Really a complete fighter!!!

  • You can tell just by how he moves that he's a BJJ guy at heart.

  • yes flavio canto is probably the best ground fighter and is a black belt bjj too, he studied bjj with saporito (carlson gracie alumni)

  • Flavio canto is the word best ground f8r, even better then gracies.

but the brazilian jiu jitsu f8rs dont admit it.

  • Canto is one of the best on newaza, but he really doesn't stand a chance against Margarida, Gurgel and the top BJJs on the ground. On the other hand, the ordinary BJJ black belt stand no chance against him either. I'm from Brazil, I've seen him on BJJs training sessions. He is really that good!

  • This IS NOT TRUE AT ALL!! Everyone in Brazil accepts the fact that Flavio is a very high level BJJ fighter and can beat and has tapped some of the top fighters in BJJ. He doesn't hold a BJJ rank but is VERY skilled on the ground. And will probably beat and tap some of your favorite BJJ guys and would win the Worlds EASILY!!

  • Margarida once rolled with him and said that Canto would have won if that was a competition... But you can't say he would won the worlds EASILY!!! I know of a fellow judoka who choked him out two times in newaza...

  • @judomachine

Actually Flavio Canto has a black belt in Jiu Jitsu and also won a Brazilian National in the Purple Belt, as far as I know. He has always trained both Jiu Jitsu and Judo, but chose to focus more on Judo in order to achieve his dream of winning an Olympic Game

  • @musicologo123 Canto has an HONORARY Black Belt in BJJ.

He has never truly formerly trained in BJJ.

His school, the Mehdi Judo school in Rio is one of the few Judo schools left in the world that teaches TRUE newaza/ground fighting.

Mehdi Judo school is so good that Helio and Carlos sent all of their sons there to get their Judo training and hone their Ground Fighting techniques

  • @strafefire Actually that is not the case. Although I cant recall where he trained, I can ascertain you that the only way for one to compete in a Brazilian National or any other championship organized by the Brazilian Federation is to present an statement signed by an certified instructor, besides being federated.

  • @strafefire Also, it is untrue that the Gracies used to train in Mehdis school to hone their ground game. Not only there was no student there on top ground level by that time, but Sensei Mehdi hated (and hates) the Gracie Family, with whom he trained for several years before returning to traditional japanese Judo. Mehdi is a superb teacher and many jiu-jitsu guys used to train there to improve their stand-up game, no more no less.

  • oswaldo alves said that canto tapped vitor shaolin about 6 times the week after shaolin won the mundial

  • Yeah, maybe because he had just f'ing won the Mundials. Have you ever competed in a tourney? A week of recovery at least for one that big. Not saying Canto isn't good, but none of these are indicators on how he'd do in a BJJ tournament. A lot of guys pull guard on dominant Judoka so they don't even get their outright advantage.

  • @loudenvier wasnt canto training bjj under alliance? Im pretty sure he trained with fabio gurgel out there. Im sure he will do well in bjj also

  • @TAEKWON21 yes, he trained @ Alliance gym for a good time. It does not mean he learned his newaza there, so Judo fans: don't be so insecure...

  • moron, he;s a brown belt at brazilian jiu jitsu, that's why hes ground game is so good, do some research before you write bumb shit.

  • I hated the ref stopped the action before Flavio could get his juji gatame in. But it doesn't matter, he got it the end.

  • Is the guy from UZB the silver medallist from 1999?
