  • I've been using mine for about 15 years also , with the same blade . I only use the angled attachments and have gone through about 5 of them because they are a little fragile if you should happen to let your robocutter hit the sink at a bad angle , the little plastic pieces will break off. Wish they made those attachments out of a stronger material instead of plastic. Other than that , Great product. Good video. Nice camera.

  • get your golf lesson at hitmanhawky, golf lesson by the hawk. thanks for the cutting tips

  • you are a good looking guy :)

  • Thank you. That is because I'm full of Danish and Swedish blood.

  • yep swedes are a good looking people ;) I know im from sweden myself.

  • I use a robocut that i bought years ago but didn't know about the band thing - thanks man.

  • What kind of Cam corder did you get, quality is great

  • It's actually a camera that can record hi-def. It is a Panasonic DMC-TZ5. I love it. It does everything I need. I may do a review vid for it.

  • My RoboCut is 14 years old now, and still works like new. The last time I went to a barber was in 1995, a few weeks before I bought the unit. I cut the neckline by fully retracting the telescoping dial and rest the butt of the unit on my shoulders with nozzle pointing upward. The shoulders provide a reference point for an even cut, then I finish off the fuzz with a razor in the shower. I can do it all while facing the mirror and don't have to see the back of my head at all. Great product!

  • Sounds like you have mastered the technique for the hairline. I use that same method for my back and sides to blend it in. This little gadget has saved me money and more importantly time. I really don't like giving up a half hour a month in a barber seat. I can Robocut in under ten minutes at home.

  • @upajos Are you still using the same blade? Mine is starting to pinch/yank on the hair. I'm not sure what is wrong. It's only a year old

  • @muppetspuppets Yep, same blade since 1995 and it still cuts perfectly. I have a spare cutter set, but have yet to install it. I do, however, regularly lubricate the cutter and cutter shaft with the oil supplied by Robocut or a few drops of Marvel Mystery Oil. If yours is pinching, there may be excessive spacing between the blades or other misalignment that's causing the hairs to be grabbed and twisted instead of being sheared off cleanly.

  • @upajos I might oil it more often. Or try cleaning it perhaps.

  • Scoobydoo: I tried the damp hair idea, it does help in sectioning the various zones!

  • That sounds good. I will have to try it next time.

  • Skooby, wonderful vid!!! You should work for the company.

I'm on my second Robocut in 13 yrs or so. Works like magic. Family and friends NEVER notice the difference, but of course make fun once they hear how I do it. Joke's on them. It takes me 15 minutes to cut my hair whenever I feel like doing it, and I've probably saved thousands over the years. To be honest, I never did it to save money, just for the novelty and convenience. What a riot.

  • Thank You Scooby,Damp hair an interesting idea!!

  • Part3: Skooby: if Robocut came with adjustable plastic or rubber strips to circle & surround the head, which each cutting zone clearly defined, avoiding guesswork!. Perhaps 1/8" off the head to allow the strands to "breathe" & not get stuck under a very tight rubber band? I find it incredible they don't provide a forum to discuss these problems & offer some solutions! You are the 1rst! Robocut feathers & layers like magic, but ohhh! these cut lines/zones!! Any tips ideas greatly appreciated!

  • I mentioned in the other section to try wet/damp hair so that you can comb finished sections out of the way. The right amount of moisture should weigh it down so the vac doesn't suck it back up.

  • Part2: 1rstcomment is on original video: Skooby: Notice on the dvd the "Long Layered Haircut", he's merely using his hand to guard from zone overlap. Very tricky & treacherous!! There has to be a guard/protector to prevent "trespassing" too low, into the longer, lower layers, creating a shabby inmbalance! You mention a rubber band or perhaps a hairband? Would these be effective in clearly demarking said different side & back sections? i asked the inventor, but only got a vague awnser!! Thanks..

  • Well, not to wet, because it's an electrical appliance...Damp is good, i think....

  • is it better to use the shallow taper for the lowest edges or the buzz cut adapter?

and after you cut the top, do you brush it to the side when you start cutting the lower zones?

    thx.

  • I don't brush aside finished sections. I do the lower edges last with the buzz adapter. I have found it blends really well if I start at the bottom and move upward and away. It tapers it all together.

  • Is this a recommended alternative to going to the barber's?

  • I haven't been to the barber since I received my Robocut. But you could also use this for a touch up between haircuts to save money.

  • The nylon straps are those ones that you use when you really want something really tied strong sometimes you see cops use them to handcuff people if there are too little regular handcuffs available. You can even tie up wires, etc with them, found them at home depot in a large pack, walmart carries them also.I attach 2 med sized straps to the ends of 1 large strap. And align large strap to edge of neckline and hold medium ones in front of my face while i am cutting nice box cut, works really nice!!

  • Nylon straps. That would give a nice solid line. Nice ghetto-tech. I might have to try that.

  • Yes, you won't regret it,it makes a really solid line. What I did extra was the longest middle strap that lines up on the neckline, I cut 2 smaller straps and thickened it up more and just taped them really well with clear packaging tape and I have a thick line piece so no accidental slippage with the trimmer (as it is much thicker), I love it and hope you will too. I think it will work neater than using a rubber band, I have a really nice box cut, straight edge on my neckline because of it. Jay

  • Sorry, meant to type Skooby with a K :-)

  • Thank you so much for your help! I just used my robocut for 1st time and my hair is so dang neat looking. I cut at 2 in on top, then went down with shallow taper adapter to 1 in, then .75 in, and finally at lowest edges at 1/2 in and it blended really well. I made my own Hairline out of nylon straps and I did a box cut with my Remington Vacuum Trimmer very nicely, better than any salon haircut i have had, once again Scooby thanks for your great help and advise. Robocut is highly recommended! Jay
