"So Dad would take the Sunday's off, and that's the only time he could ever get any rest, and so, because we were loud on Sundays, He'd make us hold his construction suits over our head, till we'd sleep and they were really heavy, and it only had one sleeve, but we'd start crying, because it's too heavy.. and..."
The female on backing vocals is the singer of veruca salt.Dave also did drums on this album not Taylor. He joined the band around the time they did the band photos so they put him in.
@elcapitan216 Do you have a source to confirm that it was the singe of Veruca Salt? On Wikipedia, only Dave is credited for the vocals, though, Pat was known for his backing vocals and was also in the studio recording TCATS. Look at watch?v=HDl2NtA8gu4 and tell me that it's a female singer once more, Pat is just a weird singer. :)
how could u say dave grohl is a female singer.. yur stupid.. thats obvisly dave doing backing either that or the drummer of foo fighters, he does all the backign vocals dave does lead but im guessing in the recording studio he does most of the work
My god i finnaly found out wtf dave did in the drum fill for the chorus, he uses ghost notes while he's hitting the snaree fuuuuuuck that's impossible to notice in the normal song. Thxxx man, u improved my perfomance, now i can play it more perfecly...
@Dillyboyee Buy the first Foo Fighters album...It's all DAVE except for 1 tune (Greg Dhulli plays gtr on 1 tune)...the rest is all Dave (the band members appear in the artwork but they don't play on and Dave plays on all tracks on the 2nd album (except for track 1....Taylor Hawkins wasn't a member at this time and Dave canned the drummer.
Dave recorded drums on the entire second album- Everlong was done before Taylor came along. He is a decent drummer but not "amazing". Grohl is amazing!
I'd heard this song a million times, and it was kinda spooky to realize that this whole time there was this backing vocal, which I can always make out now.
I remeber reading somewhere that Dave used that part to just help inhance the vocals of the song but all he really did was muffle his words as he read a driving instruction manual and a few other things aloud. I think I read it on wikipedia so I don't know if it's right or not.
During the instrumental break, three indecipherable tracks whispered by Grohl can be heard. The exact wordings are unknown, but according to the official Foo Fighters newsgroup FAQ, the source materials are a love letter, a technical manual, and a story about a studio technician's father. Grohl himself has only confirmed the use of the technical manual.

hmmm interesting, but to me it sounds like Louise Post, but it could easily be Dave singing high with a strange effect. If you listen to the song "Touch" which was recorded around the time of this album (I think?) it sounds like her....
I've heard this song a million times, but hearing isolated tracks like this really makes one see them in a new light and develop a new appreciation for them. If it only it were easy to listen to more songs this way.
I think it is him using effects, because there is no one credited in the liner notes. As feminine as it sounds, its 100% possible. I really don't think we've got this huge controversial discovery here.
Sounds like some random girl has just sung on top of the drum and vocal mix
