I totally agree that it says a lot if you give a gift that really shows you know about her likes/interests, but I think it's way too extreme to say that the gift you give demonstrates whether you love her or not. That's depressing. I certainly appreciate gifts, especially when they show an attention to things I particularly like, but I definitely don't need the people who love me to get me gifts for me to believe and accept their love. : /
