I want to purchase this gun, however It's killing me that right now you can't find one that doesn't say Made in Brazil. I realize and understand that there is no real difference between the US versions and Brazil, however, I think SA is doing themselves and their customers a great in justice with this inferior stamp.
I recently purchased a Springfield 1911 A-1 Loaded in Stainless. I absolutely love the look of this weapon. Last night I fired the first rounds through it, and the fantastic trigger on this gun made me even happier with it. The 1911 by Springfield is now my favorite of all handguns :)
i got very lucky when i bought my 1911. it's just a basic paraordance clone but it seems to have a match grade barrel. stainless with integral feed ramp. it shoots right where i aim it. the barrel isn't stamped but it must be match... or close to it. anyway my point is that you don't have to drop 1 or 2 grand on a pistol to get one that'll do the deed.
when i get my tax return next year im buying this pistol. I already own a ruger p345 but do not own a 1911..my best friend owns this model and its really nice...accurate..smooth firing.. gotta get it.
Those totally a BB gun that dude is firing. I mean C'MON! you ain't fooling anyone, if it was real it would make a bigger bang when fired! And I should know cos I own like 2 guns!
I bought one of these when they came out many years ago. I had to special order it. Stainless with black plastic grips and a arched mainspring housing. Bobbed hammer, stock trigger, stock type slide release and safety. I had put pachmyers on it and they wore out so i now have hogue. I have been carrying this as a patrol officer for many years. Kept clean with the right ammo it shoots alright for an auto pistol. Had an M&P 9mm. Sold it before i even shot it once. Couldnt stand all the plastic.
Its called a handgun not handsgun, you need to be able to shoot it with one hand. If you cant shoot your gun with just one hand, its to big for you and you need to get a gun that fits your hand.
I'm wondering whether or not you've compared the m1911 to the Browning Hi-Power. I've been wondering if one design led to the other or both were just different but fairly similar weapons.
just bought a new S.S Champion and I love it. Only problem is the reassembly part because its a royal pain in the behind. Without the little tool to hold the slide back on the guide rod, well good luck getting it back together without it. Love the pistol but wished it had a single recoil spring with a bushing. Besides that, I give it a 9.5 out of 10
Ok Sootch perhaps you could help me here. I'm stuck between two Springfield 1911's, a full-size Loaded model and a newer Lightweight Champion Operator with a tactical rail. I live in a state where open carry is legal but not traditional, so I'm considering getting the Champion to ease concealment, but how hard is it really to conceal a Government-style 1911? Thank you for all of your help.
@trumpetdood If I had one 1911 style pistol, it would be a compact size such as the Champion or Colt Commander for CCW. My second pistol would be a full size Government Model for very serious situations. It is difficult to conceal a full size 1911... but not impossible : )
@sootch00 What kind of guide rod are you running on your Champion? Looks a lot better than the stock setup and I would like to do something similar. Thanks
@deguimerautube When it cut off, I think he was trying to say that the little Colt Officer's ACP has a smaller frame than the full size and Commander length M1911s.
@marvintheboon Springfield Armory was a Government owned facility until 1968 then closed and is now a museum. The Reese family started Springfield Armory in Geneseo, Illinois in 1974 building original Springfield Armory rifles and pistols. The Original S.A. was not a company. You're correct that it was not continued in Mass. Thanks~
nice grouping at the end.. id hate to find out u just stabbed the target with a pencil at the end... lol This is going to be my next pistol and plan to use this as my regular concealed weapon
i have to compliment you on your gun handling. some people just don't know how to handle guns but you kept your finger off the trigger at all times and even moved your head out of the way while showing the back of the gun. I saw video 2days ago on a way handling a xdm and damn!!! he had his finger on the trigger throughout the review and even pointed the gun at his head. the review was going well for you but then it cut :) keep up the good work. I'll subscribe
ya i here u there, my pa works in law-enforcement and has heard alot of stories bout "empty" handguns goin off in the house, so im only 14 so wen he shows me his Sig Saur, Smith & Wesson and soon to be Springfield Armory 1911, we treat em as if theyre loaded. so my respect to ur safety awareness
I have the same one! I love the thing! That and my Winchester .357 mag... I dont know about home defense with it though, you'd get rid of the intruder but you'd have some holes in the wall! haha
sootch i have a springfield 4in champion and when i took it apart i found it does not have a sring guide. What i wanted to know is do they all come with one or do some models not have them for a reason.
Another great 1911 vid sootch00. I can see why you like them so much. They are real addictive for many reasons. The most important reason though, is they just feel right in hand. One sexy firearm.

Your camera presence is actually quite good... you speak at a relaxed volume, well paced, you don't drone or continually repeat things. Oh, and I you kept it under five minutes!
(Nutnfancy talked about the Springfield 1911 for 15 minutes before he said, "I haven't tried this out, but I'm sure it will shoot great." Gee, thanks... a bit hard to do a thorough review of something you haven't shot! Not knocking him - just sayin...)
some people may not dig the bushingless barrel because it takes away from the look of the gun. i havent heard of any problems with it. i like the colt you got there. series 80?
It's a Series 70. I haven't had any problems with the S.A. I used to have a Colt Officers with no bushing but I like the Champion much better. Thanks!
awesome review man, I'm looking in the future to get either a springfield operator or kimber cdp II both in a full size, gotta love a high quality 1911!
How does this weapon compare size wise with the colt defender model? I know the barrel is shorter, but it looked to be pretty similiar in most other ways, just wondering since I carry the defender.
Crwireman: no, i havent. Mainly cuz my internet access is for the time being limited to my phone, which makes things like ebay a pain. That and ive always been a bit leery of ebay.....(im a fairly untrusting person lol)
1eye: i carry a full size Taurus 1911...best way ive found to carry it is with a inside the waist holster, i carry in the small of my back. The only ITW holster ive found is a Uncle Mike one tho, which is universal, id prefer a fitted ITW, but havent found one. I also have a form-fitted Blackhawk OTW holster that is awesome, but (for me) is best used when wearing a jacket
I am thinking of getting a .45 and have looked at some springfield's. Do you think that a colt or a kimber is worth the extra money, or would I be perfectly happy with a springfield?
Great video.
I was thinking about a compact kimber for concealed carry, but this makes me really consider this one!
Richis, I have the Colt new agent with the 3" barrel and alloy frame. It weights in at 24oz. has a low profile trough sighting system and it cost less then the Kimber and the Springfield. It shoots and carries great. I got it at Academy for around $875
One night a crack head was threatening to burn my buddies house down. I waited on the corner of the street in my van all night for him. He never showed. At bout 0530 SD shows up. "Law" is you have to have the gun itself "locked" in a safe and the ammo seperate for "transport". Deputy told me it wasn't exactly "legal" that way - A highway Patrol friend had previously told me different. -continued-
What I done was I went down to walmart and bought a "fire proof safe" with a key and I kept the pistol in there and the ammo seperate. Now... for the "record" it was always locked :) - but IRL I left the key in the latch open unless I'd get pulled over then all to do was "latch it" and remove key. SHORT STORY LONG! - if you're anywhere near Bako go to "2nd admendment" gun store and they will advise. cheers
I own 1911's but I carry a Glock. I disagree about the 1911's being a great home defense gun, a revolver would be a better choice, because a home defense weapon should be a gun that anyone in the home can use. A lot of women can not rack a slide on a semiauto handgun. Great video, 5*****
I have a Mossberg 500 with 000 buck for home defense, the triple buckshot shot is about the size of a 36 cal pistol ball, and there are 10 shot count in one 12 ga round, so that's like have Wild Bill firing both of his pistols at you! (: (:
That looks about perfect. I carry a full size 1911, which i absolutely love, but i wouldnt mind something a bit smaller, i kinda prefer to carry outside the waist then inside. And 45's the way to go i think :). Actually i think you already told me about the champion...bout how much do they run?
good vid but I am not much into .45s ...too expensive and less accurate. Good job sootch00 you are getting up to the nutnfancy level. Your videos could be a little more clearer though..
I hear springfield 1911's are very good quality, however if I were to purchase a 1911 I would prefer for it to be made in the USA as opposed to Brazil.
i agree w/ the Hogue grips. I find wood grips bite into my hand in a 45. The hogue grips w/ finger grooves are not better for me because the bottom part is too big & makes my pinky uncomfortable. Great shooting w/ a shortened barrel.
correction, the XD(m) is not from Springfield, it is made under contract from the HS company in Croatia. The XD is the HS2000.

I own 1911's but I carry a Glock. I disagree about the 1911's being a great home defense gun, a revolver would be a better choice, because a home defense weapon should be a gun that anyone in the home can use. A lot of women can not rack a slide on a semiauto handgun. Great video, 5*****

You right about the female/Slide comment. My Bro just bought his Ol Lady a baby Glock and she can't rack it lol :)
I personally prefer an 18 inch 12gauge "Model 88" with pistol grip for "home defense" but I do love my M4

I have a Mossberg 500 with 000 buck for home defense, the triple buckshot shot is about the size of a 36 cal pistol ball, and there are 10 shot count in one 12 ga round, so that's like have Wild Bill firing both of his pistols at you! (: (:

I soooo wish my wrists could take a .45. I love them but they hurt after a few shots.

But i prefer my Glock 21, sorry. A lot of my mates in the club use a 1911 from different manufactors, but I still love my plastic guns hehe......
Go on, and greets from germany

i agree w/ the Hogue grips. I find wood grips bite into my hand in a 45. The hogue grips w/ finger grooves are not better for me because the bottom part is too big & makes my pinky uncomfortable. Great shooting w/ a shortened barrel.

All my music is done by some close friends. No copyrights and I love their music. Unfotunately, they don't produce CD's. Thanks~
