Not exactly ground breaking stuff but a good example of what the EEE can do. You seem to be a heavy firefox user but why do you use both OSes? What made you choose firefox as your browser?
La próxima semana opino... he estado investigando estos días.. y esta bien... al final en mi caso, ocupo office (openoffice) e internet, incluye skype y messenger. eee pc cumple las espectativas de uso cotediano,en especial para tomar notas de campo. y por $219.000 (500 dolares aprox.) mejor! Concepción, Chile.
At the moment, this eee works with 1 gb ram, virtual memory is swiched off in XP. But it also should run at 512 mb ram using a virtual mem of 500 mb or maybe less. 4 gb ssd-hd is far enough to handle all that stuff.

Try VirtualBox... It's runs ten times better than VMWare...

but, there's already a VMWare image on the DSL site. All you need at that point is VMWare player.
