I did this on my optimus m and it worked great...several months later my husband gets one and I do the same to his, but after boingo wifi starts acting up I removed battery...reinstall and now it is stuck on the android screen, I took out sd card in case it was corrupt or something...no luck just android screen forever. Successfully rooted my 'Optimus m' using Gingerbreak 1.20 as you demonstrated. Very easy to do! Deleted the apps you recommended AND also used the 'Root Uninstaller' app to "freeze" others that I didn't want taking up memory and running in the backgorund. So far, so good! Note that this root procedure works on android 2.2.1 phones. If you update to version 2.2.2 you're out of luck. BTW... I'm on my THIRD 'Optimus m' phone due to their tendency to freeze and reboot. Holding out hope for this one!

@visitor831 -- So far I haven't had to resort to flash recovery or overclocking as this, my third, LG 'Optimus m' has been working really, really well. Fingers are still crossed. For others having trouble with their 'Optimus m' freezing and rebooting, a VERY common and frustrating problem, I recommend going back to a MetroPCS service center until they get you a replacement that works properly or--after three replacements--switch you over to another comparable model android phone.

@lrwilliamsjr . this is not a last resort kind of thing im trying to teach people here. this phone crashes thats all their is to it. the stock rom is bullshit. i have my sister and wifes phone on different roms and they dont crash your phone will always crash no matter how many times you turn it. theirs something called bloatware that all metro pcs come stock with its in almost all their code. so delete most of it and pray it will stop crashing or install recovery and change your rom.
