Haunting tune. I too remember hearing it in St Louis in 69-70. Odd song but really unique. Love her voice. Used to hear it at night in my room on a little radio...ah memories...
This one should have done better. Problem back then is that there was such a flood of superb songs that other got swamped and only years later resurfaced by song seekers.
I remember hearing this song in 1969/70 on FM100 in Memphis, Tennessee, where it received limited play. I don't believe it was ever universally popular. I spent decades trying to find a copy of this song or even the name of its singer. About a year ago I found it on the Net and downloaded. Now here it is again on YouTube! About the same time (69-70) there was a song called Stoned Cowboy, also played on FM100. Since you are an expert of obscure music, do you know who performed it?
