Oh okay I guess I should've watched more (ha ha). I don't really understand why Raiden would refer to them as "his friends" though, as the Black Dragon - excluding Kano - aren't affiliated with Kahn. Plus they even mention the respirator and yet he's still able to have that removed as long as he did.

They screwed up Kabal's mythos a decent deal... He didn't realize he was heir to a position of power within the Black Dragon until after he served as a chosen warrior when Shao Kahn invaded Earth. He actually got his scars from Kahn's extermination squads too. Also, although he is disfigured, he does need his mask and other equipment to survive; it's not just Psycho Mantis syndrome (lol). So yeah, I'm surprised he was able to speak and breathe fine when Sonya comes to.

No. Kano, Kabal, Jerek, and eventually Kobra and Kira are all Black Dragon. In Deception, Kabal takes over the clan. The Red Dragon is a different clan with Mavado, Hsu Hao, and Daegon.
