@91CTD ok that makes sence. except the dealer turbo option had a crappy turbo put on so the engine didnt out do the 460 ford for powerwise since they wanted to keep that engine going. but the aftermarket ATS kit has a good turbo on it.
yes it was possible to get a direct injected ps in 94, but it was only after 94 1/2. mine was made in January of 94 so i got a 93 turbocharged engine in it. but you did have the option to get na aspirated 7.3 or turbo charged 7.3 before 94 1/2. im shure theres more to it but thats what ive found out so far.

The IDI trucks with turbo is simply a 7.3 IDI with a dealer installed ATS turbo setup and that little badge stuck on that says "turbo diesel"
That's prettty apparent because ford factory would not use an ATS turbo setup and leave ATS engraved into it and everything. lol, they are apparently pretty rare to see.

Looks like you got a rare factory wastegated turbo as well. I own one too. Whats your miles like? I just rebuilt mine :)

yep, but the only similarities a powerstoke 7.3l and an IDI 7.3l is the displacement.
powerstokes are computer controlled
IDIs are mechanical

IDI means Indirext injected or pre combustion chambers and was mechanically fueled DI means Direct Injected, the injector sprays over the piston

@91CTD True. A turbo'd IDI is fairly common. A FACTORY turbo'd IDI is quite a bit harder to come by.
