  • what do you use for a base late and what do you use to attach your rings and dowels to the backing board

  • @djstevesupreme the cloth is polyester, i think its a cloth thats used to make exercise type clothes. i used hot glue to hold the rings while the cloth hardened, then i broke off the dowels and reenforced the clothe with fiberglass on the inside of the piece; i cut a hole out of the back so i could do this. since the backing is against the door, it will never be seen.

  • nice work bro . check out my fiberglass panels youtube.com/watch?v=t_02Xa91Fgw

  • this did not teach you SHIT !!!

  • 2:32 thats what she said!!!

  • did you hardner with the resin or just resin

  • @Tylerjonsee I had hardener. The resin and hardener mix is liquid for a long time until the hardener activates the resin and starts to gel up and eventually harden

  • anybody knows where can i buy ,' stretch cloth ??

  • @11fabian22 I bought mine at JoAnnes Fabric (im not sure if you have one around you). Since I wanted to keep the detail exactly the same as how I shaped it by stretching, i used really thin polyester cloth. I am not sure of the exact polyester cloth but I think someone said its sort of made to make exercise clothes?

  • @CivicFiberglassDoor How much hardener are you adding to the resin, how many drops per oz? Everytime I added the amount suggest on the can, it gets really hot and starts to harden within like 1-2min. Hardly gives me hardly anytime to work with it. I think it was something like 10 drops per OZ, so I started using about 5 drops per oz to give me a little longer working time. Am I doing something wrong that it's hard so fast? Maybe because where I live it's about 95 and 75% humidity?

  • @11fabian22 walmart

  • @11fabian22 you can cut up old T-shirts thats what I use and it always turns out

  • Did you put another coat over top of it using the fiber mesh or did you use that as your final product and paint it

  • @jwebb1975

What I did was, stretch the cloth so it exactly how I want it, resin it (as shown in the video) then I cut a large hole in the back so I could put fiberglass cloth/mat on the inside of the piece.

The steps in this video is just so the cloth will be rigid and will hold its shape wen you put fiberglass mat/cloth on the inside of it. I will probably make a new video adding these additional steps. This piece wouldnt be strong enough without fiberglass mat supporting everything inside

  • Is the stretch cloth a special material? What about the resin? Can I get some specs on what resin you were using?

  • The material I used on this piece is a polyester material that is very thin and stretchy. I dont know the exact name of the cloth but I know it is polyester and I believe someone at the store said its an exercise clothes type of material.

As for the resin, I get my stuff from US Composites on the net. The specific resin I use is B-440 Premium Polyester Layup Resin; its the best resin iv used. Ill never use the resin you can get in the hardware stores; this stuff is superior to that stuff.
