True Springsteen fanatics (of which I am one) get all kinds of upset over Bruce's recordings with the "faux band", but I honestly think much of what was on Lucky Town and Human Touch was among his very best in terms of songwriting talent. This song just sends a chill down my spine--it's that good.

Just watch and listen to the maestro at work...Springsteen is the greatest songwriter of my lifetime. The combination of melody, arrangement and poetic lyrics which get right into the herat and soul of the listener is unmatchable. He has been churning out masterpieces for nigh on 40 years and there is more left in the tank. Nobody has even came close to the boss in my opinion.

I was about 14 at the time this was out, and though I was aware of Bruce, it was uncool at that age to like his music (at least for me)...fast forward and I've slowly acquired most all of his music, most recently finding the early 90's stuff on mint cond. vinyl(!) Anyway, setting aside a few weak songs on Human Touch, I'm really liking some of this material, this song being really outstanding...BTW saw him a few months ago, totally kickin' ass!!
