I think the song should have a more clearly defined intro, ending, and maybe verse and chorus because at the moment the song sounds too similar through the whole song and therefore loses the audience. I tried to give as good feedback as possible dispite the fact that I don't like techno myself, I hope you will be able to use the feedback when making your next song :)
@Macho570 "depressing boring", that's what you came up with?... seriously weak argument - the guy saying he "could make this in 1 hr" I hold in higher regards than what you came with. Troll mo better, ya fool.
@BassTwisterOfficial You're right, it wouldn't be that difficult to create sounds-/mixing-wise. But the composition / music with the rhythm and song structure put together (in other words, the "song"/"tune" as a whole) becomes something uniquely artistic, expressive, and, at least to me and 27 other people, we found it ENJOYABLE. That's what you should be caring and commenting about - not whether you could make this, or how fast you could make it...
@NeuralKnight There's no real appeal to it, it's not bad but neither is it good. It gets boring after one minute because there's no real "wow-moment" in it.
@ynoht25 Pity, that you would require such stimulus. You must not be listening to the melody. This piece can be equated to classical music. Although, in classical pieces there are often "wow-moment"s as well. It is nevertheless bloody difficult to achieve them in electronically composed music.
It breaks at 1:30 & the part beginning at roughly 1:40 - that part is "wow" enough for me. It's enough of a change. And to me it sounds cool, B/C the bassline is being layered ATM when the drums come in.
@Allhitilter Hm. Mario and Tetris do have catchy, iconic melodies. I guess the way I see it, most video game music is well composed.
Then there are those couple of games, like teris, mario, etc. that have exceptional music; personally, I find the Halo OSTs, and most pieces arranged for Castlevania games, to be exceptional.
@Pys3n Depends on what you define as a song. Under the classical definition of song in most dictionaries, no, it is not a song, because it does not have words. It is an electronic composition - an instrumental for electronic instruments.
If one were sophisticated enough, he/she would see, that, although this is not a "song", it is indeed still nearly defining of what music actually is.
@TomeQ14 I have come to believe that there is no such thing as a professional. Everyone, everywhere, doing anything - all amateurs. The separation between amateur and professional is merely a societal construct in our minds.
@slayer23254 Allow me to explain the INTENTIONAL SPELLING (important you understand that). My real name is not Neural Knight (duh). Kylethedarkn's real name is not Kylethedarkn. Our real names are TRevor and kYLE. When you combine the beginning of my name (-TR-) with the end of kyle (-YLE-) , TRYLE. (I don't know it's supposed to be creatrev or something =j ...)
I really like the composition on this track. It's very film score-ish, which is also something I do. The choice in some of the sounds sound kinda amateur-y, but I read Kylethedarkn's comment, and I totally understand this. My vocals in Lullaby were really demo-y because I threw it together to have a demo version done and then I read about the competition and just tossed it in. Which is how I got #1. Good luck, you guys!
Production itself is a secondary aspect of music. Without good production music can still sound good. However, iIf you were only to make a song with good production and no melodic or harmonizing features it would be boring.
For a "professional" sound, mix and production are extremely important. However this contest was for more of finding a unique style of melody and harmony. Anyone can learn to mix, not everyone can compose. This was more of a deadline submission than a full song.
@NeuralKnight it do suck, and nothing is harsh if i think it really sucks. clap is too low, and also that one sucks, the mastering sucks, the kick is too hard to the beat, and it doesn't melt in the beat, all sounds, sounds like 70's-80's pop sounds but as i said bad mastered. You don't seem to take criticism too well, maybe you shouldn't be a producer, because a producer should be able to take critics.
@NeuralKnight compare this to our stuff, you think your music is still good? i'm not talking about taste, i'm talking about the quality, the mixing, everything! constructive critic is to say that you need to improve stuff, and i want you to improve everything! and by saying this, I don't mean that we make perfect music, with perfect mixing, perfect sounds etc. keep calling me a dumbfuck or anything else creative you want to say, i don't care.
@DiscoBastardzMusic I listened to about three of your songs, which I couldn't tell if they were remixes or originals, because it seemed like you had nothing but remixes - so predictable. Overall that's exactly what I thought it was going to be. You only care about production and mixing. You are not even listening to the notes anymore.
I wish everybody, you included, would start caring more about music and less about production.
@NeuralKnight it's not hardstyle, thats what i can tell you. Music is not only about notes, a song should have everything, production, mixing etc, and if you don't care about these stuff, then i wonder why you sent this in to this contest, because they're not looking for a guy that can't mix. and about our stuff, we have mostly made remixes yes, but we have singles coming soon.
@DiscoBastardzMusic yeah you're right, music should have everything including mixing, production etc -when its professionally made in recording studio on a record label. I kick music-ass, eat it: soundcloud*com/abixvatoz/gauss-runnin
@NeuralKnight Okay, im not gana be a dick, but this song really, on a production level, just simply needs work. Alot of it. The kick is flat, loud, and after 1:30 gets almost unbearable. It overpowers the entire song. I have no idea what type of electronic music this would go under as well. You use synths that sound like the default fl noises you get for free. There simply is no tune, just a cheesy arp that fights for room with the equally cheesy bass. Just keep practicing.
@phillyfan8356 Perhaps you should check out my other work (or Kylethdarkn's). The two synths used most in this song ARE MY OWN. Thank you for not being a dick, because a lot people seem to be, but you should know I don't really care about production that much. Personally, I think I've made a couple of great songs working on the production level that I am. If you can't hear the tune, you really need to break away from the tiny world of production.
@phillyfan8356 Having said all that. I will still take your input on this song's production under consideration for future songs I make (or songs I make along with Kylethedarkn).
@ArtLybLS yeah, if you look in the earlier comments, that Lead instrument was discussed, but it does change in the later part of the song... that second half is my favorite part..
uhh... haha- I can't believe this many people really dislike that instrument so much. I thought it basically worked with the song, and it didn't sound that atrocious. Then again, I am a sci-fi / space geek xP
Under the competition rules/ information... there were ZERO restrictions or specifications made on what entries should or should not sound like. If you think the type of music Basshunter produces is all that's "suited"- you are mistaken.
I have heard many entries- and, some, are...

@BassChanter yeeah, hehe, no one likes that lead, I guess I know now... : j

... but- just have a lot of "enter-able" songs- I could have gone with a different one. but me and my friend Kylethedarkn (who has yet to reveal himself in the comments..?) decided to enter this collab. we both worked on a while back
@BassChanter oh yeah, speaking of sounds - I also designed that deep awesome pad-ish sound in the linked song. It just gives it that deep-space awe and power vibe, I think...
...I just keep adding to that ever growing favorites-list of my synths from scratch and modified presets...
@ArtLybLS yeah, the lead isn't perfect I'd agree. I was kind of going for a space sound?... like a spacey sort of detuned thing, as I was coming up with it, but it's almost too brassy - so, yeah. I've only ever mastered like one of my songs, my studio's basically a netbook and a pair of Beyerdynamics... XD
@NeuralKnight Yeah the melodies are nice, my only problem is the lead sound and mastering in general.could have used something else or with better sound quality.(I like the backround melody though) I dont think they can or have the right to aclaim the rights of the songs if you dont want to give it to them.no body has signed anything.dont worry about that. One of the rules to inter the contest was:You must have the rights to your music made this by myself and did not "steal it" in short
@ArtLybLS Yes, it is okay, because its not my "best" (it is quite unique though)
I mean- Did you think I would allow the record label to steal my best?...
Apparently - so I was told, and have heard people say - the record label gets the rights to any song submitted to them in the contest... So, no, it's not my best...
But you must agree it's quite unique, especially within this competition. Is it not?

I think most understand the term 'harsh' as meaning:
"A comment that tends to weigh/lean more towards a darker negative point of view, as opposed to a lighter positive thinking."
Your comment is nothing but pessimistic, essentially unhelpful, and irrational -
HARSH.
Unless you can present a valid case for why "...the kick does not fit in at all.."?
Seriously, I don't think you can prove that the kick doesn't fit.
Therefore, the kick fits.
