someone who knows what show is this?? I've seen this videos again an again here on YouTube... but I want to know if someone have the hole concert with the interview or the name or the place I don't know... if there's a page to download it... plz someone who knows anything... I'll really apreciate that :D
@johndabomb44 Great Comment mate!!!! I am a singer myself and I agree that this note is DAMN HARD to hit it in head voice!!! Also your comment answers to some dumb guys who think that Khan left the band because he found it hard to hit high notes (yeah I've heard that one !!!!)
@MidnightMasque The bassist left, and they couldn't find a new one. That's why they stopped playing, blaming it on Khan is just somewhat retarded. That said, I do want that recording from PPU5 to see if he actually still can(could, I guess) hit those notes.
@MrSilentDoubleA I never blamed Khan mate! Roy is one of my greatest influences! What I said is that some guys over the net think that the rest of the band was forcing him to sing high, so he left!
I do know that, but this is the point where your falsetto must be mastered. It's actually much harder to sing falsetto, and this combination is much harder, I believe.
@johndabomb44 it's a falsetto. It was time, when Roy couldn't do a smooth transition between normal(head or chest) voice to falsetto yet. later he was perfect at it.
Well, I'm not trying to upset anyone, but really, in a small way you sorta have to agree. If you look at the evolution of Kamelot, starting at Fourth Legacy onwards, they show a big slump with Ghost Opera. Though, I don't think that's because of a lack of songwriting ability. I think it's the lack of TIME they have to write songs with their touring schedule as it is, now days.
see i thought ghost opera was brillant... it explored man's soul and the whole idea of religon and just the concept of man's purpose.. i guess that just went over alot of peoples heads... and they just didnt like the album..
mylesmonroe has a small point in that Khan takes some influence from Geoff Tate. But to say that he ripped him off is a complete lie. Khan has a different vocal delivery, even if he has admitted to liking Queensryche (along with ABBA and jazz).
@DarkMaestro88 Uh.... no... I'm not. How the hell do you NOT know that one of Roy's biggest influences is, in fact, Geoff Tate? How can you be a fan and not even know that? :\
Kamelot today isn't as good as it used to be. They've become poppy and sound like they're trying to appeal to the masses rather then be a good, artistic band.
Conception, on the other hand, never stopped being innovative and musical.
POPPY? I think not. :-O Nothing on Ghost Opera sounds like they've sold out at all. They are as full of ideas as ever and are going from strength to strength, IMO.
But, oh well... I posted on one video that I thought Avantasia had become poppy; someone disagreed quite strongly. Opinions differ, I guess.
I am in thunderous agreement. And if I may add, Kamelot still rips off their idols. That "March of Mephisto" song of their is stolen from Crimson Glory's "Where Dragons Rule".
Get my hearing checked... Why must every counter-argument on YouTube always be made in such a condescending tone? Well then I'll do the same, mr. SmokeSomeTree: I guess you must have smoked a little too much to not hear that I am right about this. Listen to the riff! It's practically a note by note copy of one of the riffs from "Where Dragons Rule".
I am not condescending... I am also fair. But I listened to Where Dragons Rule, and uh... I don't see what you're talking about. The guitar is absolutely nothing in that song like it is in March of Mephisto. The drums are in the same time signature.. unfortunately, Iron Maiden, Rush, and Dio have used that same time signature. There's no monopoly on them.
Conception has always been incredible, and the only thing that makes Kamelot interesting is Roy. Comparing Conception, who are legends, to Kamelot, is ridiculous, imo.
Kamelot is better than Conception, but I agree that Östby is a much better guitarist than Youngblood. But I mean, Östby is better than most - I would at least put him in the top 5 of metal guitarists of all time.
i prefer Kamelot! your all insane! it is nice to see him when he's younger but i think he's grown into his voice, dress sense and looks! conception are just average and repetative compared to kamelot!
You can't get one right. While this solo is good - as probably are all solos Tore plays - almost every other solo in Conception is more exciting than this one, including every other song available here on youtube so the only excuse you really have is if you're deaf or don't know a thing about music. Which would make a lot of sense.
The guitarist kind of acts/plays like Chris Degarmo... He's even got the headset mic.

There are backstage interviews of conception from this video tape.
As soon as I get of my Lazy Horse I'll upload them.

I can't agree with you on that, but to each his own.
I have yet to hear a solo from Thomas Youngblood that equals Tore Ostby's solo on this song, however, and this is my no means Tore's best solo.
