  • Great video PoleStar00! Really well done, enjoyed it very much. Thanks for posting.

    C.

  • I won't and can't tell how much I adore him. But he makes me fall in love with English. How fair his elegant British accent.

  • Thanks for sharing, I can't imaging what I would feel if he talk to me in such a way. His voice and the way he uses is amazing.

  • RA could read my grocery list and make it sound like Hamlet. Truly a gifted and gorgeous actor. Oh, that voice, those eyes, and well, the rest of him as well. Thanks for posting.

  • I have justed melted into a huge, gibbering puddle...

  • @EdNortonisMine Lol, same here. Oh and Ed Norton is all yours. ;-)

  • @LittleAngel1977 Thanks very much ;-P

  • He is unbelievably hot. I am so gutted I'm just 17..

  • @seonah1994 You and me both lol

  • Not McFadden, but he'll do : )

  • Does anyone know what the clip at 1:40 is from? I'm thinking Vicar, but I'm not sure.

  • @canadastar05 yes, it is from Vicar. The end scene when he was explaining the joke.

  • Oh goodness...did anyone have the urge to undress listening to this? I can't be the only one. LOL

  • @Genesislinx believe me, you're not...

  • Woooooooooooooow........I'm stunned.

  • *goes weak in the knees* OMG! More.. More!!!

  • Wow... Love everything about this. Wow...

  • Nice. Love the voice, love the poem, love the music.

  • He could have been reading "Mein Kampf" and I'd still listen.

  • This reading is absolutely superb no wonder he can act well.Adore the voice without the face and yet having seen the face! Sigh!

  • Jeez I almost spilled my coffee on the keyboard with all this sexiness..lol

  • gosh... i love his voice

  • I love this combination - great choice in background music with this poem. When I hear the music (it's on my iPod), I think of the poem as read by the ever handsome Richard Armitage.

  • I feel like hes talking to me. sigh,....I love him....

  • @sirguyslady I fall into that fantasy...hard not to do so.

  • The music suits this reading so well, it lifts in just the right place and carries the words along with it. RA's emotive skill brings the poetry to life but it's the music that makes it fly.

  • oh my damn. doesn't he look like he could be harry potter's older brother?

  • @fairygmother1 What because he's English?

  • @fairygmother1 OMG! I thought I was the only one who thought Richard looks like Daniel all grown up! especially as 1:25. glad to see you agree as well =D

  • oh my damn.

  • Does anyone know which collection of Ted Hughes' poetry I can find this in please?

  • I want a giant poster of that man!

  • God, his voice is like warm chocolate... sweet, comforting, and incredibly satisfying!

  • I come back to this video again and again - it's amazing :)

  • I died. *sign*

why the hell is that weird music playing in the background!!!! its suffocating his voice!!!:@

I want to hear HIS voice!! pure in its self.. without any random music competing with it!!

  • would've liked it better wothout the background music ....it masks his beautiful voice

  • Nice :****

  • okay...which 5 idiots gave this a thumbs-down? <lifting pipe>

  • Could anyone tell me what this poem is about? I have some ideas, but was looking for other trains of thought.

  • i lke the poem have you herd mine

  • stop at 1:45! ya right there.. oh my.. so hot!

  • I didn't save this poem to my playlists because it was Richard Armitage reciting it but simply because I think it's a wonderful and beautiful poem by Ted Hughes, although I do think RA's recital of it is very good.

  • Why did he choose this poem, which is a kind of despair or eluding dream? Such an odd thing by contrast with RA's geniality & jocundity in Cbeebies! Who's the real one?

  • @13owlets *Goes to pick 13owlets up...hears "the voice" falls back down again....*

The hope of us getting up is slim....

  • Great poem, exellent performance, as well as "Winnie in winter" too, which is my favourite (inspite of the fact that I also don't like winter; spring is perfect !)

I wonder if Richard could read "Onegin", epecially Evgeni's letter to Tatiana. I am convinced it would be groundbreaking!!!

  • The first time I heard this I had to pick myself off the floor..amazing :)

  • @msdarcy33 I'm still down here! Help, help me up! Or send Richard down, either way ...

  • @Claire1473 - goes to show different opinions regarding looks because i think RA is definitely a looker... He displays far less ego than "bigger career" actors while having more talent than many. I am not much for the "cookie cutter" look popular with many... give me someone with substance and style any day...

  • Well that is YOUR opinion. Why did you watch this video if you don't think much of him? I am attracted to him because he isn't the "extreme perfect type". He isn't like all the Brad Pitts out there and that I why I like him! I love his imperfections and he seems like a nice, caring man in real life which is part of the appeal. It isn't all about looks! His career is growing but I am somewhat glad he isn't corrupted by Hollywood.

  • Hi HeathDances,

So where did that comment that we took such exception to, go? Richard is well represented and protected by his supporters, isn't he? I adore him so much that words fail me!

  • It looks like her comment goes away after so many thumbs down. Claire1473 was just trying to start up crap in my opinion. I am a bit protective of him but aren't we all who love and support him? Like you said ;-) I honestly have never liked an actor as much as I have him.

  • What's your idea of a looker then?

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, I think David's cute too but with Richard, I die a thousand deaths everytime I hear that voice and the images it conjures up - I'm literally a breathless mess - he probably has no idea how he affects all these crazy women all over the world - I'm in the US and my cousins in Singapore & Japan are equally if not more enamored of RA!!

  • Nice one, polestar. This is a great piece of editing - the music and the poem are a great match. I listened to this poem with different music set to it on another site and it was all wrong.

  • Nice poem nicely read but don't you think the music is a bit much?

  • yeah it's really well put together but i think the music makes it a bit cheesy.

  • Marvellous!

  • I enjoyed it. Thanks. :_)

  • Gorgeous voice! Could this man be more perfect? I doubt it...

  • Love you RA...... your face, your voice, your frame, your gait, your gaze, your frown, your smile...

  • what a wonderful remarkable voice!

    I

  • Marvellous! Who' s the poet?

  • This is such a beautiful poem!

  • Some of us have copies of Ted Hughes Poetry. This reading is a voice of passion not unlike Ted Hughes readings of his own work. Richard Armitage is a brilliant actor of many moods and emotions and

is able to read poems with conviction.

  • Honestly, dear: whatever possessed you to believe Youtube is the proper place to discuss anything even remotely serious? Let us enjoy the video and find yourself a real-life poetry discussion group. Oh, make sure to learn about the poetresses in History before doing so if you don't want to be laughed at.

  • Eat your heart out Sean Bean - this is the man for THE NORTH!

This gorgeous man moves mountains in my soul.

  • I had no idea I could love him more . . . oh how wrong I was . . . *dies*

  • Oh what the helll..... oh my god... oh my... my god!! I'm going to melt....

oh dear I'm really quite a mess at the moment, I don't really know what to do with myself...

  • Guh.... *dies of the pretty*

  • Umm... wow.

Excuse me if I just go and swoon somewhere... XD

  • *sigh* man just his voice...*shivers*

  • oh dear giddy god

    *faints*

  • i know ive heard the saying take my breath away but he really and truely does :)

  • "Since my heart heard it and all to pieces fell"

    Beautiful line! My favourite!

  • Oh crap...

    *heart stops*

    *dies*

  • RA obviously knows his craft and the best voiceactors are usually english. i don´t have a choice than add this to my account. Brilliant!

  • English? You obviously haven't heard the American suave voice of Steve Urkle! ha ha .........."Did I do that????"

  • This works wonderfully! Never cross my mind to mix music and poem together. 5 stars!

  • Lots of people, such as me, LOVE both men. :) But I love Richard so much, that I can't imagine anyone else reading this.

  • I love him so much... his Voice, His face everything... I want him for real!!! I could listen to this hours and hours and hours it would never be boring.... does anybody know if you can get this on CD???? I want to hear with his voice every night in bed.... *sigh*

  • Wow, what a gorgeous, romantic poem and Richard definitely did it justice!

  • oh my lord i dont know why but when he says oh my lady i cant help but laughing ...really hard...and i dont know why..... i love him...but its just so funny!

  • Wibble!!!!

how have i missed this for so long!!!

I'll just put it on repeat play forever!

  • All I can say is, that was absolute bliss. And the last N&S scene topped it off nicely. Thankyou so much for posting this!

  • Is the poem actually called song? If so it's very clever the way he's almost singing it, either way it's very sexy!

  • Where can I download this to my hard drive? I am crazy bout his voice.

  • Angelic voice. Thank you, Mr.Armitage and thank you, PoleStar00.

  • thank you for posting this! Fantastic!

  • Wonderful video!

  • ok...I just fainted

The video part was a bit distracting, I just listened...what a lovely voice

The poem and the way he reads it makes me think of a Jane Austen costume drama.....it's beautiful

  • Wow, what a voice he has. And the video is so cool! The only thing that annoyed me was that the last "Oh my lady" couldn't be heard properly because the music got louder there. But besides that it's perfect! :)

  • Oh My Glorious God

    how could You create something

    THAT PERFECT

    I think I just died

  • oh God...how I love him!!!

  • After I read through the comments and saw this video about 300 times a week I have to say this video is killer.

    Yes, Im dead too. *_*

THIS IS MY ALLTIME FAVOURITE VIDEO "since my heart heard it and all to pieces fell"

  • Yum!! <3 Where did you get the picture at 0:43? That one was super sexy <33 The one at 1:06 with the chair too. I love Richard Armitage, he is so georgous! This is very well done, by the way ^^

  • The extent of Hughes' contribution to the canon of English poetry is immeasurable. The choice of Armitage as reader is shrewd for all reasons already stated but more poignant when his looks are compared to those of the younger Hughes: some photographs show striking resemblances. This is a pleasure to listen to.

  • What a voice! I love his heavy voice.....

  • OOOH,that voice! So seductive! Your video is just too lovely! Thank you for sharing with me,darling Luisa.

  • OMG!!!!! !!!!! He's gorgeous...and his voice is amazing....I'm madly in love with Richard...

  • OMG

He has a remarkable sexy voice.

  • good video. what music is in the background?

  • *melts* Oh, how I adore his voice!

  • I think even Marianne Dashwood would approve of this highly!!!!! oh man!

  • I believe she would, indeed! *-* Good heavens... someone bring me a glass of water. *hot*

  • Ted Hughes being a northener needs Richard's voice for his poem, wonderful!

  • that VOICE!!!

love this! great pictures & clips!

*goes to get a cold shower*

  • Richard sure is a nice specimen of man. :D This was a lovely video.

  • Great! The poem, RA's voice/clips and the music. *sigh*

  • And to think Ted Hughes wrote this when he was 19!! What woman alive wouldn't give it up for a tribute like that??!

  • i agree with LittleGhost1837..I think i just died!

  • THUD

  • my favourite poem ever

read by my favourite actor ever

doesn't get much better than that!

and she fell in love with it instantly too
