RA could read my grocery list and make it sound like Hamlet. Truly a gifted and gorgeous actor. Oh, that voice, those eyes, and well, the rest of him as well. Thanks for posting.
I love this combination - great choice in background music with this poem. When I hear the music (it's on my iPod), I think of the poem as read by the ever handsome Richard Armitage.
The music suits this reading so well, it lifts in just the right place and carries the words along with it. RA's emotive skill brings the poetry to life but it's the music that makes it fly.
@fairygmother1 OMG! I thought I was the only one who thought Richard looks like Daniel all grown up! especially as 1:25. glad to see you agree as well =D
I didn't save this poem to my playlists because it was Richard Armitage reciting it but simply because I think it's a wonderful and beautiful poem by Ted Hughes, although I do think RA's recital of it is very good.
Why did he choose this poem, which is a kind of despair or eluding dream? Such an odd thing by contrast with RA's geniality & jocundity in Cbeebies! Who's the real one?
Great poem, exellent performance, as well as "Winnie in winter" too, which is my favourite (inspite of the fact that I also don't like winter; spring is perfect !)
I wonder if Richard could read "Onegin", epecially Evgeni's letter to Tatiana. I am convinced it would be groundbreaking!!!
@Claire1473 - goes to show different opinions regarding looks because i think RA is definitely a looker... He displays far less ego than "bigger career" actors while having more talent than many. I am not much for the "cookie cutter" look popular with many... give me someone with substance and style any day...
Well that is YOUR opinion. Why did you watch this video if you don't think much of him? I am attracted to him because he isn't the "extreme perfect type". He isn't like all the Brad Pitts out there and that I why I like him! I love his imperfections and he seems like a nice, caring man in real life which is part of the appeal. It isn't all about looks! His career is growing but I am somewhat glad he isn't corrupted by Hollywood.
So where did that comment that we took such exception to, go? Richard is well represented and protected by his supporters, isn't he? I adore him so much that words fail me!
It looks like her comment goes away after so many thumbs down. Claire1473 was just trying to start up crap in my opinion. I am a bit protective of him but aren't we all who love and support him? Like you said ;-) I honestly have never liked an actor as much as I have him.
Yes, I think David's cute too but with Richard, I die a thousand deaths everytime I hear that voice and the images it conjures up - I'm literally a breathless mess - he probably has no idea how he affects all these crazy women all over the world - I'm in the US and my cousins in Singapore & Japan are equally if not more enamored of RA!!
Nice one, polestar. This is a great piece of editing - the music and the poem are a great match. I listened to this poem with different music set to it on another site and it was all wrong.
