I'm not suprised that is sounds familiar, because music like this and especially the phrase, "Gloria in excel Deo." Besides in churches, it is often heard in movies/TV.

Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis.
English Translation:
Glory to God on the Highest.
And on earth peace to men of good will.
