I'M SICK OF PEOPLE COMMENTING SAYING THAT THE TRAIN WAS FAR AWAY ENOUGH FOR THEM TO CROSS! YOU DO NOT CROSS WHEN THE GATES ARE DOWN! PERIOD! IF YOU BLEW OUT YOUR CAR'S TIRE OR WIPED OUT ON YOUR BIKE, YOU WOULD HAVE NO CHANCE! NO MATTER HOW SLOW THE TRAIN'S GOING, IT STILL CAN'T STOP FAST ENOUGH! AND FOR THOSE WHO THINK TRAINS ARE ANNOYING AND SHOULDN'T EXIST, JUST REMEMBER RAILROADS WERE AROUND LONG BEFORE CARS. NEARLY EVERYTHING WE USE IN OUR DAILY LIVES ARE CARRIED ON TRAINS! Look listen live
@Fan2La no...you know whats annoying? when these people that read your comment say: OH WELL ITS NOT GOING TO BLOW OUT BECAUSE THATS VERY UNLIKELY. Cmon guys, its not fucking worth it. hes got a point, would you rather wait 1 minuite, or get your car turned into a tin can? my friends SUV stalled on the tracks and we all got out safely. the car disinigrated when it hit an amtrak going 92mph. dont be stupid, when the lights flash, JUST STOP.
Spokane drivers are idiots...watch my video on this issue...Spokane drivers are some of the rudest and dumbest and lawless around! But I have also watched the local news vehicles break the speed limits and driving laws themselves...so they are hypocrites as well....
124 buck of ticket is not enough for this idiots, they nedd to be suspended their driver license and don't allowed to drive forever because they can killed some other some day, they don't know how to drive!
Hitting a car or truck with a train going anywhere under or over 50 mph is like driving through a house with a bulldozer. Trains are damn well near indestructible.
@SeberHusky maybe so, but regulation checks require in the event of an accident like building that the train would go through a series of tests to make sure the train car is sound in its ability to perform, and good ole uncle sam doesn't hand out free check up coupons.
Mmmm correct me if I'm wrong but if u come to a railway crossing while the lights and bells are flashing u can proceed if it there is no train in sight and if it is safe to do so after stopping....
@jolly704 No, wrong. When the lights are flashing, you stop. You don't know how fast that train is going. And the lights signals wouldn't go if there wasn't a train, when the train comes somewhat to the crossing, there is a switch on the tracks that sounds the signal. Go back to driving school.
@bwright009 What it could be is kids playing with switches down the tracks. I'd contact the railroad company that serves your area and let them know something isn't right. I'd wait at the crossing for about a minute just to be sure one isn't coming before corssing it.
I skecthed A crossing Idea to stop violators it will make them pissed! the driver and the police will taunt them AND make fun ohhh hahahahaha i can hardly wait for this!
I think the fine for driving through the railroad tracks as the red lights start flashing or the railroad crossing gates going down should be $500, not $124
Solution: spike strips that go up when the lights blink like the ones you see in mall parkings, you bust the signals you have to buy four new tyres and you're slapt with a hefty fine.
Good idea, but they must make sure the tires blow out over a period of time. The other alternative would be to shorten the trains to not more than 700 meters while driving at least 55 mph. The impatience problem would disappear.
@conhopper78 As for me I would rather have mile and a half long trains within 2-3 times an hour over short freight trains within 5-6 times an hour, the crossing they were at isn't a heavily traveled line.
@Doobie1975 Yeah well, because YOU may obey the law and you may are not impatient enough to try something stupid. Which is good, of course. :) But still, i think having short trains on the line, will assure the impatient people out there a quick forthcoming within or under 3 minutes. To be honest, i live in Germany and i never ever have seen someone crossing the tracks while the red light was flashing, barriers or not. How often have you seen people doing that shit with your own eyes?
@conhopper78 I do feel that this line is meant to have the short freight trains and not the long freight trains, I have seen people drive through the tracks with the railroad crossing gates going down while I was out railfanning and I would be thinking "what an idiot!", of course this is a heavily traveled railroad line with a long freight train and the train was going at a high rate of speed, our town doesn't have a lot of trains but the area I go to does
I live in an area with heavy traffic on the rails aswell, we have at least 4 ICE high speed trains, 4 RegionalExpress, 8 S-Bahns and an unknown number of freight trains passing the crossing where i lived for about 10 years (parralel tracks, heading to and coming from) Frankfurt am Main. Thats a bunch of trains running through there on an HOURLY schedule, and i never seen or heard of an accident there. Yes, all these trains pass there in a single hour. I think the problem is just impatience.
its about time when city police work with the railroad i seen cars beat trains and it sometimes it is scary
