  • I loved thiscsong ever since I HEAR IT. Great band, I would wonder whats w them now!

  • @gilteed77 and, you like this one?

  • I looked this song up because I hear it at a Supermarket all the time and hated the song because the version they play is so dull but I didn't realize this was actually a rock song. The version I have to hear is much quieter and has no rock music but has nothing but a piano.

  • Grandi...!

  • One of the best rock songs ever written!

  • Doves sweet doves. sweet post brit-pop. Doves are everything

  • this song got me through high school love it so much.

  • Is it just me or does this gallagher not look like a young Gerard Butler in this vid?

    Doves are awesome, love 'em!

  • just out of nowhere i thought of this song it's been so long

  • Bright Lights

  • LOVE THIS GUY! ... man! I'd really want to fuck with them! :)

  • I have such amazing memories of this song, right around sunset on a beach or in a convertible driving on a beach road, and even on a boat cruising toward sunset.... good times!

  • one of the best mood set songs of the 90s or now.timeless.

  • @zosofriend This was released in 2001.

  • Ten motherfu**ers got burned by the sun.

  • great song of the 90's !!

  • @Hellfire5500 millenium song , actually!

  • This is one of those tunes you roll down the window in the car, crank it up, and just drive. Great song to wake up to/start the day to. Love it!

  • who the fuck disliked this song?

  • Comment removed

  • Dam this songs reminds me of my junior year of college...such great ass memories man...

  • Just an amazing song, the chorus makes me wanna cry

  • Catch the sun

    Before it's gone

  • I was introduced to these guys in 2002 when they released "The Last Broadcast" and couldn't believe I missed this one. Great song, good band, thank the U.K. for keeping Rock & Roll alive!

  • This is one of my favourite song. When the sun is shining it just makes my day complete!

  • Suck it, Cullum, the original blows your shit away.

  • @tonytheshoes Cullums covered this? I bet it sucks.

  • @TheBurkshire Just watched that version. It's VERY average; don't waste your time...

  • how old were they during this?! ?

  • @anothergunner Jimmy Goodwin was turning 30 around this time. I know because he's the same age as me, his birthday is close to mine too.

  • @veritriphy i have the same bday as jimi. 28 may . although 19 years difference....geeeeez.

  • I first heard this song on Project Gotham Racing 1, and I was hooked ever since .

  • Amazing song. Brings back memories of spending good times with an old girlfriend.

The best songs, the best times, bring em back!

  • Since this song was released, I have listened to it at least once a day. My day's not complete 'till I hear this song.

  • Sounds like the Foo Fighters :)

  • @bennybauer123

Foo Fighters? i don't think so. Ans if it was then The Foo Fighters were sounding like the Doves

  • @bhendrikabel He's right... It does sound exactly like the Foo Fighters. I'm not saying The Doves ripped off the FF, or vice versa, but anyone familiar with both bands cannot deny the similarity. I'm sure plenty of people will disagree with this, but eh. whatever.

  • If it werent for the video game Project Gotham Racing 1 i would have never heard of this amazing song and amazing band :)

  • @XxMoshPittersxX there have been several posts about that soundtrack introducing this band... mind blowing really... but I guess if it were not for MTV2 in 1999 or so I wouldnt know about them either... whatever it takes!! crackin band! give all their stuff a try!!

  • crackin'

  • the reason that Doves is underrated is because the stupid cunts at MTV is too busy putting a genre that fits Doves songs.

their tunes is so out of this world. surreal and gets you lost in your imaginations. :)

  • this is so ridiculously cool

  • this is the last of all real alternative rock that's ever existed.

  • @walidbako Check out "Two Against One" by Danger Mouse with Jack White on vocals. It is absolutely amazing, in spite of being a new song.

  • To bad America hasnt found them yet

  • Somebody needs to make a playlist of late 90's/early 00's videos that appeared on MTV2... you know... before it was all 'Sucker Free' and Road Rules/Real World re-runs.

  • feel excited.....very excited....

  • words can't explain this song. 5 stars, amazing.

  • whatever happened to their VEVO ??

  • 3:06 - 3:20 O MY GOD!!! sooooo coool! doves, LOVE U!!!!! Beautiful music!! :))))))

Thumbs up! you like this ;)

  • ahh what a classic.

  • i only knew Jamie Cullum´s "jazz"-version until now, wich btw i love a lot. This here seems to be the original version and it is totally different. But i love it!!! it is freakin cool!!! i listen to it over and over again...P

  • @PeakResetProductions same here...

  • the song is awesome... but I believe that Jamie Cullum's version is a bit better.

  • beautiful song

  • The guitar makes me EXCITED AMGGGG!!

3:00 makes me feel like i'm standing on a cliff looking over my kingdom of earth with my hands in the air screaming to the high heavens that i'm alive.

    fuck...:D

  • best Beach Boys song that Brian Wilson never wrote; theses guys would have been superstars in the '60s and peers of Hendrix, the Beatles, Doors etc.

  • I LOVE IT.

  • Marvelous gem....

  • Great tune - great band, yet still underrated.

Listen to Man Who Told Everything, doubters.....

  • great song !!!

  • temon!

  • there coming to SCARBOROUGH in August !!! cant wait !!

  • When i first heard this is couldn't believe they were Sub Sub in a previous life. Lost Souls still one of my most frequently played. Goin to see them at Rockness on Sunday. Yeeeehaaaaa

  • they are the only band that can play this

  • In 2000, after coming home from High School, all tired and mentally exhausted, I turn on Mtv 2 and saw Doves for the first time. This is the song that introduced me to them.

    I love Doves ever since.

  • @Itzpower top manchester band mate

  • @MrSALFORDSTEVE Oh I believe it. Manchester has a lot of amazing Artists and Doves is right there with the best of them.

  • great tune+++++++++

  • za jos bolje jutro. evo jos njia na Infest, i bilo bi to bas superiska.

  • The doves are apitamy of excellence! We love you guys!!!

  • this song reminds me of when i was in London along time ago !

  • great ,just great

  • Cheers Guys...Keep it up 10 years on, and I'm still a big loyal fan of this band.. The average shelflife of many bands these days is about 2 years... If you're lucky

  • there was alot of good songs like this at this time...Lost Souls by Starsailor, Side by Travis, anything by Built To Spill. WTF happened now?!?!?!? The only band I can really get into is Band Of Horses.

  • I meant Good Souls by Starsailor :)

  • I love any pop video with a fleeting glimpse of a horse in it

  • Doves man........I am glad they exist....I don't know what else to say. :)

  • tuneage x

  • there's just something about this song that takes me soaring...and i love it***

  • Unique.

  • i like the jamie cullum version too :) but this is awesome, dont get me wrong.

  • when i heard this on the radio all those years ago i thought it must b a new foo fighter song....howeva its as good as :)

  • when i heard this song iwas going to a break up so i flew like a bird after this!

  • one of the best songs of the 00´s

  • 98 wasnt it?

  • It´s a classic by now

  • This is one of my favourite songs of all time.

    The Doves are incredibly talented.

  • Heard this song on an international flight

to Prague this year for the first time.

Did'nt catch the name of the band, but immedietly recognized it too be a really well written and (catchy) tune. Could'nt remember how it went until last night at a bar when it was on the loudspeaker.

NOW THANKS TO YOUTUBE i CAN CATCH THE SUN FOR REAL!!

  • Great memories/nostalgia attached to this song, but it's not altogether a brilliant song, more like a very nice catchy tune. **** Pretty Cool though.

  • I like this song, but it's a little out of place on the album. This album is one of the best ever!!!

  • does he play bass upside down?

  • I think he's left handed.

  • He doesnt even have a left handed bass. Great tune though.

  • Like I said earlier...this songs ROCKS!! It's a very impressive mix of harmonys with a great layered mix of complex guitar parts and is just overall awesome!! Thanks dOvEs2007 for posting it!!

  • this is just one of those absolute classics. i fucking love it.

  • This song is the shit!! Are there anymore that sound like it?

  • Very Manics but still very good!

  • If the manics ever made a song that was 0,000001 percent as good as this one, it would be a sea of oceans of improvement on their part.

  • Por favor!!! alguien sabe donde? puedo descargar estos albunes de Sub Sub

"Full Fathom Five" y "Delta Tapes" :(:(..................Please!!! someone where can download this albunes of Sub Sub "Full Fathom Five" and "Delta Tapes" :(:(

  • What an absolutely superb song.

    One of my all-time favourites

  • yes a good song but still prefer the pounding. awesome song

  • Shivers down my spine and hairs stand on end as I recall this summer sensation. Kissing my then-associated floosie as we sat watching London go by beneath the sun. Man, I loved that girl. Thanks for the memories. Favourite'd!

  • same here. heard this in the gas station last night and it absolutely floored me. hadn't heard it in years. definetely takes me back to some great memories

  • no sabia que tenia buena cancion en sus antiguas y lo pasaba en la radio doblenueve vaya

y yo tenia 10 años en el 2001

  • tasty guitar at 3.06

  • what a choon.

  • The two songs are not even close enough to be having this debate, Goldberg, get your ears checked...

  • It's not the entire song, it seems more like the middle eight of this one. But it's definately in there. I should make a video that compares them...

  • Given that, in general, there are a relatively small number of chord progessions which sound 'pleasing' , the fact that there are two bars in the chorus of both songs that sound similar is of little surprise. e.g. check out the chord progession of U2's 'with or without you' and the chorus of Crowded House's 'Fall at your feet" - similar? yes - rip off? no.

  • Btw, this sounds more like Sub Sub, more than Strawberry Alamclock....

But If u are still hurtinz I can alwas call teh: WAAAAAAAAMBULANCE!!!!!!!!

    weee yooo weee yooo............

    HEH (baby)....

  • Wrong Goldberg, 2 great, strong songs that sound albiet similar but NOT the same...

    See Coldplay vs Satriani... LOL

  • just enjoy

  • you are right

  • This song is a complete rip-off of "Tomorrow" by Strawberry Alarm Clock! Check it out and see.

  • Wrong, it's a song with elements from Sub Sub's This Time I'm Not Wrong, but we're OK with that since they're the same band.

  • No, no it's not! They blatantly ripped of Strawberry Alarm Clock's song "Tomorrow". If you listen to the original song "Tomorrow" you can see that they obviously lifted from it. I am not kidding.

  • Not a complete rip off, I agree there are similar elements and that isn't surprising because everyone is influenced by things they experinced in the past, especially musicians.

The one difference is that Doves rock harder, compositions are more complex, and their writting is top notch.

  • Agreed, you can definitely here the elements from the Sub Sub song and since their the same band who really cares.

  • nah im not avin it. "inspired" by? yes. ripped off? no. no where that similar. I can see where your coming from but to shout "conspiracy!" would be a little "Fox Mulder". Its no rip off.

  • That part of the melody is lifted dirrectly from "Tomorrow". I'd classify that as a "rip-off".

  • why do you have 'down' on such a good band? do you thrive on living in a negative complex? finding the fault in everything, rather than enjoying something/ someone that truely has some talent and produces a good collection of worthwile and beautiful songs. it's not 1 or 2 songs that make a good band or artist, it's how the album is laid and the quality of all those songs and a collective rather than select 'hits'. get a grip, and grow up.

  • I am trying to inform you all that a good portion of this song has a melody line dirrectly taken from a great song by a band I like very much. If you want to put me down without listening to what I have to say, that's your decision. All I am asking is that you listen to "Tomorrow" by Strawberry Alarm Clock; then tell me if you still feel I'm making things up.

  • It sounds similar ... not the same. No one makes an origional tunes anyway, its all inspired from other artists. Why dont you just just chillaxe?

  • Alright, that was the straw the broke the camel's back. Looks like it's time to pull out the ol' Media Converter and the ol' WMM and make a comparison video.

You have not heard the last of me!

  • Reminds me of Reading 2000, which my first ever gig, what a TUNE!

  • I got to take a shit...

  • haha go and enjoy yourself. This song is awesome.

  • its doves. NOT The doves

  • Best song from "lost sides" is The sulphur man

  • i think the doves were the backing band on badly drawn boy's album hour of bewilderbeast, if you like this you should love that!

  • yeah they supported damon gough on two songs on his album - "disillusion" was one of them i think.

  • i want to write songs like this

  • this is the first doves song i ever heard back in 2000, as soon i listened the first chords , i loved it and i was sold ,i been a fan ever since i have every single album, they are excellent .

  • Best. Song. Ever.

    Heavy, but so melodic...

  • I just love your music! soo much! saw you in Wolverhampton a while ago.. when i lived in England.. soooo good!

  • yeah i gotta say that lost souls is def my favorite album for sure!!! cant stop listening and drumming to this- i brought my drum kit just to play there music!

  • All of "Lost Souls" is amazing in my book. I haven't kept up after "Last Broadcast", but this album is probably my favorite.

  • I loved this song the first time I heard it. The first half of Lost souls is pretty amazing up until catch the su, then it slips away.

  • the doves do not enough credit

  • Yeah, this song is simlpy amazing.[:

  • only 15-16 thousand views.they deserve more than that

  • great track

  • doves always make my chest sink. i love this song and i love them.

  • Muy buen video, estaba esperando algo asi, los recuerdos.

  • catch the doves!!! Great Band!

  • one of my favourite bands. love this song!!

  • This was the first thing I saw from Doves. It is still my favorite album.

  • what you too? I remember on one sunday night i saw a glimps of this video (closer to its ending however)my mother asked who is this band, i did not know but like the chord progression of the remainder of the video then i search for years until i looked up the album that had the song, before that i did not know the name of the song so i had to search nearly all their music to find it and i did, its called "lost souls" i was the first cd i ever purchased in my life.

  • This reminds me of my secret lover and skiing in Italy

  • This song sounds like the Foo Fighters if they were better.

  • eejit

  • This is one of my very, very favourite songs, but it does not match up to any of the Foo Fighters' songs.

  • anybody agree that this sounds like The Foo Fighters?...

    eh, me either...next.

BTW: this is from about 2001 or 2002, for info sake.

  • This sounds nothing like the Foo Fighters. Since when did David Grohl have a British accent. If anything, this sounds like Oasis circa 1992. And there is nothing wrong with that.

  • I was not implying that the doves sound like the foo fighters, i was really saying the opposite, the doves have their distinct sound and they do, sound diffrent from the commercial rock bands out their, they are unconventional, hense mtv prayed this very video on its unconventional videos program.

  • *sighs* You don't know what you're talking about, do you?

  • This video was played on mtv a few years ago on a unconventional rockband program, if simply means they are not mainstream, that does not take away their creativity. I fact i have this abulm in my possession, its called "lost souls" and i even have the tabulature in some of these songs on record.

  • An Awesome song by an Awesome Band and I am puzzled why they are'nt bigger than they are.

  • The Doves sounds actually like they are doing their own thing, although they are essentially rock musicians they are not into genre, they are more after the creativity than trying to sell records. Sometimes that is the price for not being standard, they are more unconventional hense they maybe more popular to the non conformist, or intellects.

  • fucking unbelieveable song!!!!!!

    I absolutely adoe these guys.

    Fan for life.

  • How do these guys sound live compared to their actual recordings? Its just that there are only three band members and they have a lot going on in that song, so I wonder how it sounds live?

  • mate,i have seen thes guys a few times now and i promise they are amazing live i still say they are the best ive been to and ive been to alot of gigs!

  • This is one of their most famouse songs. I actully think they could do better but I give this song an A.

  • most under rated band ever FACT

  • Fiction. You're actually thinking about The Sonics. Though the Doves do a great job. Very nice tune. Has a bit of the jangly thing going for it. Lovely.

  • ..oh and all YOUR videos got 1 star from me to.

  • First heard this great song on WEQX in Manchester, Vt. It's one of those that sticks with you from the very first listen. And the "Lost Souls" album was just as unbelievably good.

  • doves , lost souls is a classic i saw em in manchester a couple o years ago ,amazing band
