The number of blocks in your hand are either 13, or 10 or 7 or 4 or 1 depending how many times you shang, pong or gwon. A 13-block example:

1,2 and 3 sticks make an independent set,

3 East's make the second set,

The remaining blocks are: 2,3,4,5,7,7,7 circles.

Grouping three7s as your third set, you will need either a 2 or a 5 circle to make a pair to win.

Grouping the 2,3,4 as a set, you use ther 5 and 7 to wait for the 6 to win because the last two sevens make a pair.
