  • Finally someone makes kicking videos that help. and dont charge you 50 dollars for it.

  • just wondering but you were a kicker/punter in highschool and college right? by the way, i think your leg is AMAZING

  • @DjWade3734 yeah high school and college...thanks for the compliment!

  • hey there nice video but i started the football season and have been kicking for the last 2-3 weeks for about 2 hours a day. I"m starting to get knee pain on my plant foot. I was wondering if you ever got this and if you did what i should do about it. Please reply the pain is getting worse.

  • @21jkicker I don't remember... I started kicking when I was 9 years old. I mostly struggled with hip flexor and groin problems... I have no medical training and would suggest talking to your team physician

  • @finklekicker

My hip flexor has killed me all season so far. is there any way to make that feel better besides the stretch that you've experienced.

  • @here2there11 Icy hot or myoflex...they are hard to get over...I used to have constant problems with it.

  • Well done!

Maybe loose the music and add voice description but still very helpful!!!

    Thanks!

  • @ushideshishodan i will never lose the music... my whole philosophy on life is wang chung tonight! this was the first video i ever posted... i did it in an hour or so

  • there is no way some of you kicked 50 yd + in 8th grade. one of the best high school kickers my school played against this year barely mae 50 years..and he was a junior or senior and ONLY kicked.

  • I am in high school and I can kick 50 yard field goals. People say that that is good, but i am not so sure.

  • mranderson1000 im in 8th grade and i kick a little over 50yards and sometimes 50flat

  • Very good video sir!

You are a very good kicker.

  • Please be blunt with me,Im in Eighth grade and kick off about 50 yards...good??????

  • Yes. That is not bad at all. I was about the same in 8th grade give or take a few yards (I think I was 53 or 54 yards.) You will get a faster leg before you know it.

  • Hey, do you know the pros and cons to both styles of kicking? It would help to know which one works better for me. More importantly, WTF! I hit the exact same way and the ball goes to the left. I'm wearing NB tennis shoes though... Can't afford kicking shoes.

  • Take off the shoe :].

It works, take a look at my video.

Also, going to the left. It's one of these things.

    1. plant foot is too far back.

    2. your follow through is too much around your body.

    3. you're not swinging your opposite arm back across your body.

  • I just started 8th grade and I've been watching your vids and they're great. I tought myself to kick soccer style last year from numerous sources on the internet. I was wondering if a 40 yard field goal was a good distance to be at going into 8th grade.

  • yes that is very good

  • thanks do u have any tips on how to get it up in the air more?

  • watch my other video on "how to kick field goals"

  • thanks for the help so far now i have another question if you wouldnt mind answering. i'm already stocky now, would it benefit me more if i were just a bit more lean or does body physique mean nothing when kicking?

  • there are exceptions to this question... most, and i would as well, would say to be lean and have an athletic build... because it helps you be as agile as you can be... however, there are kickers like sebastian janikowski who break this mold... weight isn't always a bad thing... remember the kid who always hit home runs in little league? he was fat wasn't he? fat kids get momentum going and it's the same in kicking although agility to do the task at hand is a plus... do the best you can

  • what are some basic training exercises i could use to maximise all attributes of place kicking techniques? im already a soccer player so i have general idea on how to kick a ball but i would just like to know what else could be done to attain full potential

  • stretching of course, power exercises (squats and cleans but without too much weigh), core (abdominal training), mental preparation (yoga, positive visualization)... as far as technique itself... make sure you are not kicking it like a shot on goal but rather a deep kick downfield... toes down and out at impact and contact made on the instep (big bone on the inner laces)... hope this helps

  • The instruction was the best I have seen on YouTube. The camera angle wasn't the best. I liked how you cleared the tree. I am going back to school in the Fall and I would like to walk on as a kicker. I will be 35.

  • that's very admirable of you! thank you for the comment and yeah i know the angle sucks lol... the funny thing is that i am also a filmmaker and just did this kind of spur of the moment... when i finally get around to making my next video i will use the proper equipment and editing system! good luck with your tryouts! what school are planning to attend?

  • if u have good form but not power all u hav to do is hit the weightroom and do squats best thing for ya but u deffinently need to work on form too

  • man i h8 to ask like but can you do a video specificly on what part of the foot to hit the ball with game winning kick last year i used my toes all year but untill that game i didnt break anything

  • i also kick i need help, i can kick high but not far, also i can kick far, but not high. How do I do both at the same time?

  • just keep practicing... it will come with time

  • sorry to keep on asking you all these qustions but what mustle do you use the most

  • the quad muscle

  • ALOT OF INSTRUCTIONAL BOOKS i READ SEEM TO STRESS PLANTING BEYOND THE BALL AND PULLING YOUR RELAXED, BUT LOCKED KICKING LEG THROUGH THE STRIKE ZONE. SEEMS LIKE ALOT OF HAMSTRING INVOLVEMENT ON THE PLANTLEG AS YOU PUSH DOWN FIELD. ANY THOUGHTS? IM STILL LEARNING.

  • don't plant in front of the ball... that is the old school way of thinking... plant directly beside it... if you plant in front of the ball you will clip it to the right and if you plant behind it you will hook it to the left... so plant right beside it where the middle of your foot lines up witht the middle seam of the ball... of course you won't be able to get it exactly there each time but get as close as you can

  • I'm one of three kickers at my uni team in England (the Durham Saints). I haven't got the power of the others, but have better technique. Having said that, what goes through your mind as you take the kick. Half the time concentrate on how I kick the ball that something goes wrong...

  • even thohg ur comments old, ima reply. DON'T OVER THINK IT. just let it happen. =O

  • Great video. The best I've found so far. My 8-year-old has a great leg (especially for his small stature). He drives the ball a long way, but has trouble getting it up high. Currently, he clears the bar by only a few feet on PATs. So his coach wants him to work on height. Do you have any advice regarding how he can get the ball up higher or what may be preventing him from doing so? Thanks!

  • I found that I used to pick the ball up off the ground to try and get it high in the air, but instead made poor contact; resulting in a low kick. It's much like a golf swing, try to sweep the leg down on the ball and then give it a high follow through. That's what worked for me.

  • How do you kick that high and far im trying to kick field goals of a kicking tee .

    Could you please help me.

  • it's really all about practice and leg speed.

no one can really tell you. you just have to experiment. i used to take 3 steps back and 2 to the side just like most kickers. i couldn't kick that way. so now i take, 2 back and almost 3 to the side and can hit 60 yard field goals.

    just experiment

  • YA, i only thirteen and up in till today i coulndnt even hit an extra point now i can eisely clear a 35 yarder

  • can you post a vid of you kicking w/o a falt step?

  • falt steps are not bad for kickers... many use it and to falt stepping when kicking will not get you cut from a team... i can do it but my personal way of doing it uses a falt step... many nfl and college kickers use it... just find what works best with you... it's just about how quick you get to the ball

  • Thanks for posting these videos!

When I kick, I rarely get a straight end-over-end rotation of the ball. Instead, I get something halfway between end-over-end and a flat helicopter. What am I doing wrong?

  • how many yards can u kick?

  • longest field goal in a game 51 yards (soph year college) in practice i've hit a few from 65.

  • i felt good about today. we played 3 on 3 football and i was 3 for 3 for field goals :)

  • Im a high school freshman and im going to try out for jv as a kicker. i watched both of your videos. ure a great kicker! maybe 1 day i will be as good as you!

(is there any advice u can give for a lack of height on my kicks?)

  • most likely lack of height is from taking big steps to the ball. when you make that drive to the ball you want it too be a large one. this generates height and power. also remember to keep your toes pointed down. many kickers get in bad habits of letting their toes come up and this will hinder your height.

  • y didn't u go pro?

  • i got tired of football and left my college team after three years... i was a stupid kid back then who thought he had all the answers. looking back now i regret my decision to quit everyday. i tried out for the arena league after being out for two years and still did a pretty good job. don't know if i would've ever gotten to the nfl and i never will... don't make the decisions i did where you have to wonder what might have been one day. still i enjoy kicking and will continue to do so.

  • deep man...

  • good job brent.
