Secularism has advanced our sense of morality beyond religion's darkness. We no longer consider it virtuous to burn people alive at a stake, for example.
Bad people will do bad things whatever their beliefs, and good people will do good things. But religions such as the Abrahamic ones can motivate good people to do bad things. there is no doctrine in Atheism that can do that.
If one makes a claim about the existence of a certain entity, then that individual or group of individuals must carry the burden of proof. Just because you can't disprove the existence of ghosts, aliens, or Bigfoot doesn't mean they exist. Until adequate evidence is provided, the logical position to take is one of disbelief.

The Bible allows slavery, including selling your own daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 and Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9) Corinthians 11:7 - 9 just to name a few.
The Old Testament is no longer in effect some might say. Perhaps they should read where Jesus makes it clear: "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)
I find it interesting that 70% of African Americans, in a recent pole, are against equal rights for homosexuals, claiming religious reasons.
When a person of color, chooses to oppress another person, based on a book that was used to oppress them. They become the true meaning of the word, once given to them by there Christian oppressors. A nigger. That is not being used as a racial slur. It is using the word for its meaning. Ignorant!
GE 3:16, CO 11:3-9, EP 5:22-24, CN 3:18, TS 2:5, 1PE 3:1-6 The husband is to rule over his wife. Wives are to be subject to their husbands even when the husband is disobedient to God. Man is the image and glory of God, while woman is the glory of man. Man was not created for woman but woman for man
@atheistchuy Ok- This is as serious as it gets. There IS no proof that God exists. It is all a matter of faith as described in Hebrews 14. On the other hand you cannot disprove His existence either.
It all comes down to what you choose to believe, and my choice is to believe in Jesus Christ-Son of the living God.

@4me2cclearly No we dont. That is a rule made up by men. Atheists to be more exact, and we do not have to conform to your standards.

@MrBeerbug
In order to prove what you claim exist, YES!! YOU DO!!
Or you can just say I believe by faith. Without evidence.
That is after all what you do. Just don’t expect everyone to be a gullible.

I can not prove Bigfoot does not exist either. Your point?
You don't prove negatives. Get it?
4me2cclearly 1 year ago
@4me2cclearly The point is that it comes down to what we choose to believe. Havern´t you read my reply???
What part of the sentence:"It is all a matter of faith." Do you fail to understand???
