ppl tend to judge movies on how much $ they make the more $ the better the movie is but we forget about the ppl who don`t like the movie(s)and feel ripped off. The only ppl who are benefitting from the $ are the filmmakers and they don`t care if we like the movie(s) or not just as long as they get our $. Well, thats show biz.

I'm kind of curious about "The Wrestler." It looks like the type of movie that would totally turn me off but it has gotten such raving reviews that I almost feel like I have to watch it. I don't know though, just watching the previews makes me cringe so I really don't think that I want to have to waste a couple of hours watching it.

i didn't like the previews either. they're doing a horrible job of representing what this movie really is. go see it right away. it's the best movie i've seen in years and i'm seeing it for the third time next week.

grace, i've always really enjoyed your interview personality, but your taste in movies is MESSED UP. you need to look beyond the obvious sadness of the events in movies like the wrestler. yes sad things happen. that doesn't make the story worthless. it's a truly beautiful movie.

and you're totally off base with that "award pandering" comment. if this movie was made to pander to the awards, randy would've been totally redeemed by the end. or he would've run off with marisa. or at the very least there wouldn't have been a single shred of ambiguity about his fate. that was the strongest, most uncompromising ending possible! geez louise!

As for "awards pandering", sad ending are exactly what the awards people want to see. Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don't Cry, No Country For Old Men, Brokeback Mountain, etc ALL have sad endings. If Randy had a happy ending, no way would it be getting the attention it is.

Also, the ending isn't ambiguous at all. He's dead, dude. 100% I wonder if he thought about how all his buddies who ran the fights are going to be charged with negligence for letting him wrestle, & possibly be shut down...

i never judged YOU. you strike me as a cool person. i just think your TASTE is insane for the above reasons. how would you have ended it in a way that didn't feel pandery to you? i can't think of anything more realistic than that ending. for the last, like, 30 minutes i just knew. nothing else in the world made sense to him. wrestling was all he had. and even though i predicted it, it still struck me deeply when that moment finally came.
