I was disappointed when I first heard that the live recordings would be used for the album because I figured it would sound the same. I'm glad he decided to make a studio album out of these songs. These tracks sound more like something you would hear on the radio which is a good fit for this album. The production is also great IMHO.

If I want to hear the live songs, I'll listen to the set that has been released online.

I do think some of the better tracks from the live recordings were left off.

The production is fucking incredible!!! I don't know what you are talking about.

The thing that might be distracting you is that it seems to have been produced in a way that was used when stereo first came out with many instruments panned to the extremes. I think each instrument is so beautifully recorded and mixed that you'd be mad to find many other faults, and also youtube isn't going to give you the best quality, buy the CD to hear it properly!

B. The entire album IS live.

C. Why doesn't it sound live? Where is the audience? Well kids, that's the magic of mixing in the studio!

@cloudpierre I can't agree with you more. I prefer some of the other live recordings that are floating around youtube opposed to this. Very disappointing.

@MyWendal good point. i wonder if both albums have the same producer. the songs are great, and mike is a great singer no doubt.. but the production is just awful imo. whoever is producing some of these ipecac recordings needs to be fired :S
