Dang, I wish I had one of these! Too bad I'm a drummer instead of an organist. I love the drums, but always wanted to play one of these just to see how many sounds I can get out of it. Keep up the excellent work!
It is truly a shame that in many of the "I gotta haver MORE ranks" rebuilds the first thing to go is the swell indicators. I always found them very helpful. Wonderful recording, thank you for your playing.
Wurlitzer fills me with a childlike joy that is hard to describe. My heart swells and for a moment I am so completely content. Thank you so much for this. How wonderful!
@johndonofrio84x Those are Swell shade indicators, which let him see how far he's pushing the expression pedals down, and how much sound is being let out. It's similar to a gas pedal: The more you push the swell pedal, the farther that tab goes down, and the more sound is let out into the auditorium.
@kiwiplant You should work on a brain-scanning mechanism for that purpose! You've already master organ remote control via the Internet!
I've watched all the videos but the name of the organist isn't mentioned anywhere. Is it a secret ? What a pity, I love his playing: clean, crisp and uncomplicated...
Great playing on a great instrument! Good use of 2nd touch and the snare drum. Spectacular instrument, this; the only Mayan console ever made (on a French-style shell!!), very unusual tab layout, and it's nice to see an Wurlitzer with the swell indicating keys not only not removed and replaced by more tabs, but actually functional!
completely excellent. The Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar, California collection has some great theater organs and automatic instruments. The Dukes of Dixieland have a circus album where they 'tear up' this song thanks for sharing this.
As always it's great to hear you put the Wurlitzer at the Senate Theater through its paces. Keep posting as much as you can while the organ is still in place so we can save them and listen to our Wurlitzer while it's looking for a new home.
Superb! I love a rousing march on a Theatre Organ, and this doesn't disappoint. I share Glenny56's view, sounds great, and this march is a new one on me also. Never heard it before.
What great playing this is, crisp clean and precise, and as ever the Wurlitzer sounding superb. I think marches always sound good on a theatre organ. Well played can we see more of you playing before time runs out. Very nice march, I haven't heard it before.
@glenny56 Marches always sound good on a theatre organ, because unlike a church organ, a theatre organ was specifically voiced to emulate an orchestra or BAND. Thus the instrumentation on a theatre organ would be very close indeed to what a marching band has. Namely the percussive instruments. Church organs do not have glocks, marimbas, chimes, triangles, or drums...but a theatre organ does. So yeah, agreed 100% Along similar 'notes' theatre organs also sound like carousel organs
