I love it when cats massage like that. My cats use to do it while I was sleeping to my back, it felt soooo wonderful.

My Golden will hold anything in her mouth. She loves carrying things around with her and playing "grrrrrrrrrs", she'll just walk around with something in her mouth and "grrrrrr", it's one of her favorite games.

Kittens do that to their mothers' flanks while feeding. In a grown cat, it's a comfort thing and shows that they feel safe. Look at the happy blink on the cat at 0:12 - says it all!

Our cats do that too and they are 2 years old. It said that the cats subconsciously powing to suck out more milk out of their mother. Not all cats do that, those who have been taken out of their mother very early have the tendency to do that. It is also said that the domestic cats live in a kind of an extended kittenhood. It is very natural.
